  • So, the max polyphony with just one of these is 4 notes?

  • @ultimatenerd22

Yes. Each voice has 2 oscillators, 2 sub-oscillators, 4 LFOs, and a 16 step sequencer though, so you can get more than 4 simultaneous tones.

  • Small but Powerful.... Thats what she said.

  • Thanks to every one for the great affordable Tetra.

I take it on the train a lot, and Find that my 3 Hrs. train-rides are to short.

    The PUSH-IT button is genius.

Indead, a VST plug-in Editor would be awesom. Any idea when?

At least you have an editor, unlike Waldorfs Blofeld.

  • Goodmorning Dave, plz a tutorial from Evolver?? - Rack + Desktop please. :) thank you.

  • @theHackerOfMayhem

Check out The Definitive Guide to Evolver by Anu Kirk (free download)- it is written very well, it's easy to follow, and it dissects every aspect of the instrument with accompanying graphics and examples. It's a real game-changer.

  • @DaveSmithInstruments i saw it! thankxz! :)

  • make a vst-editor like Access you amateurs...!!!

  • @iasonas8

We're waiting for the VST too! We don't make software, we make hardware. The software developer SoundTower is responsible for the VST so as soon as they have completed it we'll be offering it to you.

  • @DaveSmithInstruments

get another developer! didn't you set a deadline for the vst in your contracts?

really amateur move by them for not being able to deliver a simple vst-editor and much more amateur from you stacking to a skill-less partner...

  • What can the Tetra do that the Prophet 08 can't? Besides sub oscillators?

  • @kidgloves2

Sub oscillators, analog feedback, combo mode to act like a rhythm box, 4-voice multi mode where each voice can be independently controlled simultaneously like 4 separate mono-synths.

  • @DaveSmithInstruments Any chance of an updated prophet 08 with those features? I like everything under one hood instead of seperate controller, polychained units etc... I would like the prophet to have sub oscillators. Then split the keyboard so I have deep sub bass on the left and cool leads on the right. Maybe add analog bucket brigade delay so it could be stored in the presets. Is reverb pushing it? :) Whats your next monster synth?! LOL Lets get into the 3K range!

  • Hey big thanx Dave for the Wavestation A/D! Its 6 chanels MIDI mode is perfect for a MIDI guitar, and what a synthesis... Great job! You're new gears seems to sound great!

  • Hi folks. There are 4 16 step sequencers on this synth. Does anyone know if the BPM for each can be set independantly, so that the sequences move in and out of phase with each other over time?

  • @deadsealiner

There is actually a 4x16 step sequencer per voice, so there are sixteen 16 step sequencers total in Combo mode! Each voice can have a separate BPM, so every 4 sequences can be a different tempo. You can also get some really good phasing stuff using that in conjunction with the clock divide settings.

  • @stickysf

Perfect, just what I wanted to hear. Thanks stickysf.

  • @deadsealiner

No prob. Just to be clear, the 4 sequences per voice are 1 sequence for each of the 2 oscillators and 1 sequence for each of the 2 sub-oscillators which makes 4 assignable 16 step sequences total per voice.

  • new analog instruments open new paths to our electronique music!!! keep on Mr Dave!!! thanx 4 posting!! :E

  • Dave Smith kicks serious ass. No kidding, this guy changed my life with the awesome machines he made.

Love the size-to-power ratio of this thing, btw.

  • hey .. thanks for responding to my fan mail regarding the mopho last year . i really appreciated that .. the first day i had it i had it hooked to the drumtraks and was going full blast within the first 10 minutes. i can only imagine what this'd be like, but i'll stick with the mopho for now as it alone is more than i can get my head around sometimes . . great stuff sir ! ..

  • Good lord this thing is awesome!

  • Can I chain the tetra w/ a MEK?

  • Only by triggering the notes on the Tetra with the MEK. The voice architecture and instructions are different for those two instruments, so if you want to chain the Tetra the MoPho and the Prophet are the compatible instruments.

  • OMG its actually dave smith himself!

Also, I want one of these. Poly chaining? seriously? theres no reason NOT to grab one of these!

  • No no no please no more small we want 19" rack mount/19" desktop please with a propper program matrix for programing like a Waldorf Pulse/Micro Q, DX-100, Prophet 2000. Otherwise great product but I don't want to look at a PC screen when making sounds that's why I use hardware not VST's followed by the sound

  • Smaller foot print, bigger sound.. just what everyone needs..I dont know about yall, but I grew tired of towing around 5-9 vintage bulky synths around from gig to gig..Give me 2 Tetra's,2 Mopho's a Virus and a Dark Energy in a suitcase and I'm ready to jump on a plane and rock it internationally!

  • Well, if you ask me, I'd say Dave Smith is on to something good here. As we move into the future, technology seems to improve more. I find the Mopho and Tetra to be very futuristic, especially when some people might prefer to use software synths. Now these are small and innovative hardware devices that come with their own software. They could also be used with many other Midi Controllers or Keyboards if you prefer. The Mopho and Tetra prove that small things do come in small packages.

  • I'm sorry, that didn't make any sense. I meant to say that great things come in small packages.

  • Buy a Poly rack or Prophet 08 module if that's what you're looking for. As for myself, this is perfect. Small box with a big sound!

  • I'm looking for another synth next to the P08, and this is going to be it.

Thank you for coming up with such great instruments

    Jan

  • Wait, you already have a P08? Unless you want it for stacking them, I would say your money would be better spent on something different. Definitely good to get some different type of sounds-Moog, Juno106, Oberheim, ect..

  • Looking forward to picking one up. I love my MoPho. Thanks.
