  • Thank You so much for the translation. I love the singing, now with the translation, it is much more interesting!

  • @4sil

You are welcome. Thank you for watching. I'm glad the translation helps.

  • thankyou for uploading

  • you are welcome

  • Thank you for posting. I love this movie. I have the VHS.

  • Welcome. I am glad you like it. Yes, we did have the VHS when VHS was popular.

  • Your translation is quite admirable and I'm sure I cannot do a better job than you. Translation is an art, not just knowing the language. I'm really glad to have met you too! James

  • I liked this movie a lot. When it was playing in the theater as reruns during the 80's and 90's, I use to go into the theater and copy down all the singing lyrics while I was watching the movie. That was why I realize the subtitiles by the DVD company is off in some places. Nevertheless, I think you did a great job with what you had.

  • Your Chinese must be really good for you to be able to have done that. And your written English here is great. I am sure you can do a better job than me translating this opera and I could learn from you too! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm really glad to meet you! Jeremy

  • Great translation of some very difficult and poetic Chinese lyrics. Too bad the Chinese subtitles are not all correct so your translation is off on some parts because of the mistakes of the Chinese subtitles. Otherwise, it would be perfect.

  • Thank you so much for pointing that out. I did realize something was amiss, but I wasn't sure what. My mom used to have some Opera Song books with all these lenghty operas in full. I used to read them when I was a kid so I knew something wasn't quite right.

  • Hi, my mum really enjoys this video clip - thanks for uploading! Do you know where we could get a version of this (with English subtitles)? Thanks!!

  • I believe DVDs or VCDs are available in Cantonese-speaking communities. I do not think English subtitles are in those prints. That is the reason why I have uploaded these clips, adding the subtitles myself.

  • Hi, Joerg,

I checked Wikipedia. It's 1957. A colour movie before I was born! Cool! My sister told me that those days, some movies were partially black and white. Only the ending part was in colour! I'm glad you like it! The movie is about 2 hours so there would be about 12 parts when I have finished uploading it.
