Notice how when Data removes the last debries before seeing Spot (:58) its a different set of hands(1:04) then the ones that actually take Spot out of the debries, Also when Spot is first pulled out the person is wearing a grey and black uniform (1:04-1:07) and then it flashes to Data who holds Spot wearing the yellow uniform(1:08). Just pointing it out, lol.
@Philllllll Maybe they originally had someone else pull the cat out of the tube but then decided it'd be better if Data did so, that or maybe the cat didn't like the actor who played Data so they had to have someone else pull the cat out to keep him from scratching the actor. Or maybe the director was drunk, who knows?
When spot is pulled out, it is just the lighting on data's uniform which makes it appear grey. Notice how only the shoulders of data's uniform are yellow, while the rest is black. Same with the hands removing the debris; the shading makes them initially appear to have regular skin coloring (as there is tinted light reflecting off of the yellow canister just above spot's hideout). The same effect is present when data lifts spot up to eye level at 1:46.
I dont know, movie mistakes.com also points out that during this scene, Brent is not always wearing his contact lenses either. You have to look close, but at times his eyes are blue instead of the yellow that Data's eyes are suppose to be. I wonder if they used a practice scene where Brent was not in full costume? It could be a light reflection, but he could have also forgot the makeup on his hands.
@s77920 i think it is not a double. the uniform is yellow around the shoulders which cannot be seen in this particular scene you are describing (1:04-1:07).
@s77920 accctually it cold be the same uniform. the sleves on the yellow suite are black and the side of the body of the suit is grey and black. you just couldnt see any of the yellow is the show of him removing the debris so it looks like a different suite but it is indeed the same one. its only the shoulders that are yellow.

If were grey and black then Data would be wearing an uniform that was not in keeping with the rest of the crew. The black and grey uniform is a repair crewmans uniform. For those that think it is a light reflection... why are the sleeves still black and not also grey?
Then why are his sleeves black and the sides grey? When he stands up the color returns from grey to dark black? I have had light shine on my black clothes before, but it has never turned the color grey. The black stays black!
