Hi, I want to link a 12 volt battery & a 6 volt battery together. I already have a 12v 100AH Deep Cycle, & understand the AH rating needs to be the same, but I want to use them together at under 18 volts. So I would need to have the 12v @ about 11.5 & the 6 volt @ about 5.5. I only need a few 3 second bursts of use. Would the batteries still give a strong current? Or would they perform weaker at those voltages?
@OBXSOLWIND Just a few notes, you should be using a wrench designed for high power and not a conducting wrench. Also, extremely important, you should be using rubber gloves. Safety isn't just about protecting your eyes and face, in this case you should be protecting your heart and body as well. Your heart won't forgive you if you hit it with 100 amps even for just a second :) Best of wishes.
OBX, I am new to solar power - I've been starting slow over the last 1/2 year. Your videos are very useful and informative. This is great stuff to learn and know. Thanks!
Hi Kevin, Thanks for doing this video. It is just what myself and others need to know about keeping your batteries in good shape. Iam glad that you brought up all the safety issues concerning batteries and battery banks. I think this video will save a eye or two. I just picked up (4) brand new Polycrystalline 100w solar panels today and Iam going to start installing this weekend. Wish me luck so I dont burn down the house. lol.
@kary1982v6 You should compare the difference between the amount of energy stored in 1 gallon of hydrogen compared to 1 gallon of gasoline. Gasoline is far more dangerous and extremely flammable and the worst part is it stays on the ground in liquid form rolling around everywhere versus hydrogen that vents upwards into the sky when it burns. Gasoline we are all used to but it's still extremely dangerous.
@helloman1976 that is a good point... no mater the fuel or what ever, Mechanical devises in all their forms need to be respected for the danger of mis use.
Nice vid. What is the expected lifespan of the batteries?

Excellent, where I work (a data center) we use C&D jars for 540vdc strings for our UPS'
We have to glove up, face sheild to take meter readings, top them off, etc...
Do you buy distilled water or do you have an ionizer to make your own?

@ristin59 I get my water for my baterys from my condensate drain on my AC. Thanks for the comment.

@kary1982v6 It is scarey stuff.
