  • very,very impressive indeed.

  • The most beautiful train in the world

  • brilliant pics. where was it filmed?

  • Awesome scenes, just right for any train set manufacturer to put on the box of a train set!

  • Obviously better boiler, better valvegear than Mallard but fairs fair the Germans should have the record no?

  • great stuff!

  • is she completely out of service now. i remember goin to one of her last galas at the ELR not long after she got her green livery but wasnt sure if her withdrawal was permanent.

  • She's at the NRM, streamlined. They've made modifications to the streamlining so that she complies with modern load gauging...so never say never.

  • lovely video of one of britains best loco's personally I think it's criminal what they have done to hamilton.

  • Why?! She looks fantastic in her original styling.

  • An excellent video of 46229 in action, I remember seeing this loco in the fifties at Crewe on my way from Wales to Yorkshire, and she was in BR Green Livery at the time...5* Bob

  • What's wrong with streamlining a steam locomotive? I think she looks nice streamlined, it would be great to see her run in streamlined form.

  • great vid 5* the steam shooting foward is duel to a sticking central drain cock.

  • drob1980..I totally agree with you..as streamlinig was part of the pre-war attraction to win over the travelling public..road services were also threatening to rail travel at the time..luring passenger and freight away alike..thank you for this great piece of footage..

  • I personally do not approve of what the have done to 46229 by putting back the streamline casing, it should have stayed in its BR guise as streamlining was cosmetic compared to the LNER A4s whose streamline casing was actually a fundamental part of its design

  • I don't either, it is criminal to have a loco as good as that stuffed and mounted. The money should have been spent on putting it back into steam.

  • well go look at some of the video's of her completed now and say it wasn't worthit... best looking loco in britain now imo

  • well it looks like an upsidedown bath tub

  • @ShaurntheSheep Maybe - but with some decent coal and two men shovelling she should be able to beat the Mallard's record

  • @Nastyswimmer I have been told by a fireman of the LM region that it was a struggle when he used to fire Princess Royals and Duchess's/Princess Coronations from London to Crewe to fire them fast enough if they tried to go above the usual speed and with there being not enough room for 2 to fire it it sadly wouldn't happen looks great though and @dm3830 no the Germans shouldn't Mallard hit 90mph going up hill then the famed 125mph just after and the papers are there to prove it :)

  • aMAZing!!!

  • Lovely film and sound of a lovely engine erm.... man. Thanks and best wishes

  • Nice one mate. Once of the most beautiful machine i never had the honour of seeing in Steam :-(

  • nice vid man
