Breathtaking!!! I love the movie cos great actors but mainly for the music. I knew movie version sooner then this one. That cello is just wonderful. Im not really sure wich version i like more :)
I also had assumed that "South American Getaway" was performed by the Swingle Singers--it sounds like them and it makes sense--but...
A good Swingle Singers web site disabused of my notion thus: "Contrary to popular belief, the Burt Bacharach-penned song 'South American Getaway' from the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was not performed by the Swingle Singers, although it was supposed to be." I am not 100% convinced but enough so as to be willing to bet it is probably true.
with such depth and sensitivity this piece of music deserves more recognition than the relative obscurity in which it appears to languish,a beautiful piece of Bacharach.
Couldn't agree more. Are you aware of any other pieces like this? This piece reminds me of music used in The Thomas Crown Affair where Steve McQueen is driving the Rolls Royce through the toll booth.
Love it cellos are perfect for this great film theme.

@MrEckythump I don't know that it is so obscure. The Swingle Singers sing it in the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."

Wonderful. For recent, gorgeous Bacharach, listen to Come In Ogni Ora, also on YouTube.
