  • The reason a lot of these folks didn't DANCE is because they were SINGERS> Adele has pretty much prove that the wannabes who lip-synch on stage with their big dance crew are just corporate "Talent" while the real talent often languishes for years refusing to sell out or put out to a corrupt industry. Props for singers who SING. I love dancing and used to be a dancer way bad in the day but the best thing a singer can do on a stage is to SING. DUH.

  • DLT the hairy fuckin cornflake!

  • R.I.P Jet.

  • Never heard of her, she's great, but why doesn't she dance it up????

  • @Khultan I think the camera trickery going on means she has to stay put.

  • @sambda No, I think (IMHO), most of these artists had such unbelievably good, catchy music grooves but didn't know how to reflect that in movement. Even Mick Jagger in his early days proves he didn't know how to dance on beat, just does tremor legs and weird movement. Steve Marriot could move.

  • My folks gave me my first half-decent record player when I was 7 for my birthday. I got a Decca hit compilation LP with it that included this song, I loved it. the record is still playable (in Glorious Mono). I love Mono recordings, they would make a little four inch speaker kick ass and cause the next door neighbours to thump on the wall. Try to make your digital stuff do that on a speaker that size.

  • Simply brilliant!

  • When Billie Davis recorded this song in 1969, few of us knew that it was an oldie dating from 1954, recorded first by Louis Jordan and His Timpany Five. By the way, the song was written by Jon Hendricks from the jazz trio Hendricks, Lambert and Ross. Billie Davis brought the song to the atention of a new generation. King Solomon said: "There´s nothing new, just old forgotten things"

  • BIllie Davis has poise and is so elegant

  • Recuerdo que iba a la discoteca y esperaba el momento en que pusieran este gran tema para salir a bailar y como yo much@s era la canción que animaba a salir a la pista.

    Siempre Billie Davis

  • I bought Tell Him when it came out but had never seen Billy Davis until now, gotta say what a cracking lady she was. Thanks for uploading Sambda you made an oldish guy happy.

  • I love this song. I can imagine Chrissie Amphlett doing a brilliant rendition of this song.

  • Bonjour, vous aimez les sixties ? écoutez et podcastez mon émission "le super son des 60's" sur le site de plumfm. You like the 60's ? please, listen and podcast my broadcast "le super son des 60's", connect to "plumfm". Salut et faites gaffe au rock and roll.

  • BILLIE JUST SIMPLY brilliant

  • billie sing this song very well

I also like the original version

because Gorgia sings smooth and very fast

  • This single was really big in Spain. I was 15 and saw Billie Davies in my hometown backed with TuckY Buzzard, the band produced by Bill Wyman. It was great.

  • The production may have been influenced by the Clapping Song, but the song is from the 1950s - I think it was Louis Jordan who first cut it. Great rendition though - although I dont think Billie davis looks very animated on this show. Maybe flying her off to Germany with the Hairy Cornflake wasnt that much fun in 1968 !

  • @DoctorRadio Haha.I can't imagine it would be fun to fly ANYWHERE at ANYTIME with The Hairy Ars..er I mean Cornflake.Anyway Billie be way too cool to be animated.Although she does jive somewhat on that 'Pop Gear' clip from 1965.Anyway this is a great record.

  • Brilliant performance!

  • This song sounds like a carbon copy of "The Name Game" by Shirley Ellis.

Was there ever a lawsuit over this (a la "My Sweet Lord" and "He's So Fine")?

If not, someone got away with one here...

  • So pleased to see this one on here, what a knockout Billie Davis is.

  • now this lass REALLY was a sexy chick. that lucky twat jet harris was seeing her when she was about....17 i think. it caused a load of fuss at the time but hey...who can blame him? not me! billie always reminded me of being a good laugh and a passionate chick. pity i never got the chance to find out for myself!

  • @nuipret Surprised that seeing a girl of 17 mattered even *slightly* then (age of consent was 16 then, as now). After all Mandy Smith (13) dating Bill Wyman didn't generate *that* many waves 15 years later!

  • @sambda yeah man. i think what made it so 'wrong' wa that jet was a married man! but i still don't blame him for taking his chances with billie. of course, I'D refuse her invitations. yeah,i'm sure! :0) signed, billy liar.

  • @sambda I know a guy who was a bodyguard for the Stones in the day. He remarked that of the men in the group Mr. Wyman was by far the greatest "home run hitter" to use an American idiom. In other words he was more successful with the lasses than Mick or Keith, by a light year.

  • @sambda que gran cantante!!

  • Georgia Gibbs did this back in 1955, prefer this version best, although Georgia's is worthy a listen

  • Good but I prefer Ellie Greenwich's version xx

  • MY FAVOURITE RECORD EVER EVER!!!!!

  • a great lady from the sixties

  • Great stuff thanks for posting

  • I useter play this as a DJ back in the day. First time I've heard it for about 40 years. A very overlooked song and singer. Her version of 'Angel of the Morning' is terrific.

  • this is great !!! love it xx 60s' forever .... Lyndloo...
