This is great time to acknowledge this song, and Kirk Franklin's Don't Cry because Ressurection Sunday/ Easter Sunday is coming up soon. I just want to say that I'm so glad he died for to take my sins so I wouldn't have to. I'm greatful I have a family to celebrate it with, and a church family to celebrate Jesus's Resurrection. I'm going to be really glad when he comes back to take his children home on that great, and wonderful day. "I am the resurrection and the life." (John 11:25).

Richard Smallwood is a "God-sent" genius, he has always been a prolific composer, but Calvary puts him in a class all by himself. I first heard the song only a month-and-a-half ago, and now this soul-stirring song is what I listening to every morning to remind me what my heavenly father sacrificed, when his son died on the cross to save mankinds soul. I am also reminded that even though we are going through tough times now, he is always watching and protecting us. Thank-you Mr. Smallwood

Everytime i hear this song,it's like I get weak and I get chills. This song is sooooo serious!!!! Wow, I will never forget when our combined choirs at church sung this song on Easter Sunday! We killed it and wow!!!! it was just an amazing service! I will never forget it! The soloist in my choir killed it, the part that really got me was this part" Can you hear the hammer ringing"? ohhh my God!!! it's like I felt the pain.... I love this song, I listen to it just about every day. This is one of my top 10 "kick the devil's butt songs" I thank and praise God that He humbled Himself to take on sinful flesh, still remain God, and take the punishment that I deserved. Not only that, he defeated death and hell, and has given us the gift of eternal life. All praise be to GOD!!! Surely He is El Shaddai, El Elyon, The Great I AM. Hi b2, in this particular version, which I believe is the original, does have three different women - Maurette Brown Clark being the first voice you hear. The other two names escape me but I know those two have been with Richard since 'Center of My Joy'. Kim Burrell's is another youtube delight (not the original as this person has playing with these calvary pics.

This is a remake of the song, which can be found in it's original form on Richard's TEXTURES album...which just became available on iTunes! The original line-up was Jackie Ruffin, Darlene Simmons and Carolene Evans. Maurette Brown Clark replaced Jackie on this song because Jackie no longer sings with Richard. I don't know where you could have gotten the idea that Kim led this song. She sang this at a tribute to Richard a couple of years ago, but she never recorded his arrangement of it. Sorry.
