just read a couple days ago about the album that nasa sent into space....its on voyager 1 and is as we speak reaching the outer limits of the universe and still sending info back, so nobody has listen to it YET.
@57sheddweller Thank you for sharing this information. I am a big fan of the Ancient Aliens show. Recently, it was stated that although they have always believed the universe is expanding (a result of the big bang) they know believe it has been excelerating. Possibly in the past, Aliens were able to visit because the universe was smaller. Today, they may be just too far away. Even if we make contact, it may not be a good thing according to Stephen Hawking. Enjoy.
@Avolution33 Thank you for sharing. I believe at this point, Steve is writing and performing his own material. I don't know if he ever covered this song. Enjoy.
@kapetanmarul Thank you for your interest and request. I hope to have time one day to tab out my renditions, but currently I have too many projects. If you are interested in learning this style, techniques and methods I use to figure out and arrange songs, please consider purchasing my instructional video CDs. Visit ebay and search: keni lee
@macdonaldscotland Thank you for your comments and continued encouragement. I appreciate that you take the time to respond. This video was a labor of love. I wanted to wake people up to the endless cycle of war from cradle to grave. Maybe someday we will all realize it's ultimate pointlessness. As history has shown, in fifty years are so, we Americans will be friends with our enemies of today anyway.
@KeniLeeBurgess I only started playing 2 yrs ago and when i satrted out i was all about Metal, somewhere along the line i fell into the blues abd it has changed my life.Getting rid of negative thought, positive actions and words even when it's hard to do so.Now i spend my days listening to the old Good stuff a la robert johnson, blind willie mctell, blind boy fuller, john lee hookerand my fav is Jimi(i hear him more)but thank you to people like you who keep it alive and kicking.and great soul!
@macdonaldscotland Thank you for your comments and words of encouragement. The Blues is wonderful form of early American art. It is steeped in a rich history of life in the rural south during the 1920 and 30s. We are fortune to have footage of some of the original masters when they were in their 60s during the Folk Revival Movement of the 1960s. I think anyone interested in finger style guitar, can't help finding the challenge of syncopating the alternating bass fun and musically rich.
I heard the B'Willie version late one night - not knowing it even existed, and it blew my hair back! Your version is awesome - and this is one of my favorite Zep songs. Thanks!
@momofotis2 Thank you for your comment. I started listening to Led Zep when I was a boy. Their Blues influenced music (and other bands too like the Stones) is what got me interested in the old Delta Bottleneck Slide style. Enjoy.
@LTmattYT Thank you for your question. This video is a duet with two vintage Oscar Schmidt Stella guitars. These guitar are lightly constructed with ladder bracing and have a big throaty sound. Enjoy.
Diff' between B'Willy and Led'Z is B'Willy praised Jesus in orig' song while L'Zep's song calls on some demon spirit! Go look up the lyrics, i was disapointed as well. John 3;10-16
@2inchtube Yes, there is some truth here. I believe true to their time there was a big interest into the occult studies of Aleister Crowley. I would also take into consideration they are performers and musicians. There is a certain amount of theatrics. BWJ in my opinion was the real deal. He believed in what he was singing. As for Zep, this is not necessarily the case. If fans choose to turn them into a religious movement, it is at their own peril. I personally just like their music. Enjoy.
No flat notes. This is C Major tuning (the 1,3,5 tones from the major scale that makes up a C major chord). If you flattened the E down a half step to E flat, that would make C minor tuning. Please see this video: Delta Blues Guitar Death Letter Blues Son House Bottleneck Slide
Can you hear the difference. ? Thank you for your question. Enjoy.
Well, I can see your point, but unfortunately, I don't call be vaborized a good ole time. I would rather sit on the couch, play my guitar and drink a brewski. LOL Enjoy.
Yes, I assumed you were joking. My fear is that there are people who aren't. They are building weapons that they think are for protection, but they just cause pure destruction. Building something that has the potential to cause globel destruction is just plain insanity. Extremism at it's worst.
It kills me too see all these teens I know that want to go to the army. I t really does. They dont understand the reality of war and espiecally all those recurters that come to school...cant stand em
Thank you for your comment. I served in the USAF back in the 1980s. It was basically during a time of peace. I was a teenager when I enlisted. I personally do not like war. I feel there is a rush to action instead of exhausting all verbal conversation. Unfortunately, war has been with us since the dawn of time. It seems we have not attained the mental enlightment to out surpass our ability to build weapons of war.
I do too. It is sad to think we are not intelligent enough yet to solve our disputes through dialogue and must revert back to beating each other with sticks and stones. Maybe some day we will all wake up.
Thank you for your comment. Led Zepplin based their song on Bind Willie Johnson's Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed. My rendition is based on my impressions of the Led Zepplin version but using an Opened tuned guitar and a Bottleneck playing style simular to Blind Willie Johnson. Enjoy.
This is a photo I found on the internet. Unfortunately, I do believe it is real. The reality of war is very shocking. If they showed images like this on TV that are occuring daily in the Iraq War, people would have a different idea of what war really is all about!
Were you running in the cemetary? Thats a cool skaking effect -- I think that part is perfect for that part of the song, would be cooler if you had a tombstone in mind to end it at with a pciture of deceased to zoom in on, or something similiar.
Thank you. Yes, I was running. Although, I gave some thought to how to shoot this video, I soon realized, there are so many different ideas that come to mind after the first edit. To really produce a refined final product takes a lot of reworking. Enjoy.
Thank you. It was a very very cold day when I shot this video. I wanted to add a back story with the video that was not directly addresed thru the lyrics. I wanted people to see the larger cycle that was behind war. I don't consider myself a film maker , but video certainly takes the music into a whole new place. It speaks for itself. Enjoy.
Thank you. I own a bunch of slides, but mainly I use a thick glass slide homemade from an Italian wine bottle or a brass slide that was made in the 1970s by mighty mite. In general you want thick and heavy. The relationship between the string guage and tuning will provide the proper string tension, so the slide rides correctly on the strings and produces a good tone. Enjoy.
Thank you. I'm thinking if I get the time, maybe next I should do a little acting and make a short video with a story line and a musical soundtrack. Enjoy.
Thank you for your kind words. Windows Movie Maker is an easy tool to use to add a creative visual view. It certainly opens up a whole new area of expression. Enjoy.
Thank you. I certainly find singing more challenging than playing guitar. As long as the guitar is in tune, you can fret the note, pluck the string, and the correct tone comes out. Getting your voice to match that note is sometimes not that easy. From day to day the guitar stays relatively the same, but with my voice, it changes all the time. I guess this was a good day to do this song. lol. Enjoy.
Thank you. It was a very cold morning when I went out to shoot the video in a local graveyard. The sun was shining very brightly and I tried to capture the contrast between heaven and earth. Enjoy.
if you ever come down to Italy: call me I'll play live with you (if you want of course). Are the lyrics yours? anyway this is damn deep blues! great keni; regards from Claudio
