@FebruaryDarkness1 I was never into Marshall amps all too much, to be honest. If I could find one used, I might get one. They're versatile, but I dunno. I'll go try this out next week.
i just bought this amp online and i have a few questions. what is the speaker cable that you mentioned? and i play a lot of metallica/ avenged sevenfold add use EMG 81/85's so would you reccomend this amp?? and how much drive does it have?

@ThrashMetalTrivum Dude go down to your musci store they will have a vyper its like a wayyyyyy better line 6 better tone and can go louder the randall is has nice gain and tone good volume less features but its more to my likeing but i want a vypyr too

@DieToFleshNotSpirit hmm price probably the crate if you have a way to boost gain then this amp i love the yea i agree now that a little gain boosted is needed
@pantera2004hellbound your going to use the speaker cable for the actual speaker to head right??? lol if so then hell yes lol like im just using a crappy speaker cable i jacked from my friend you dont have to go all out but monster cables are amazing no doubt
Hey jake I have some questions. I have been playing guitar for a couple years now. I play mostly death metal. And I am looking for an affordably priced solid state half stack. I have been looking at this one for a while now. I have read some reviews saying that this amp doesnt have quite enough gain for metal and to use metal distortion pedals with it. But then I also read that when using pedals with this amp you get alot of noise.
@InitiatorOvChaos11 well the noise problem can be solved by useing a noise suppressor. I dont have a noise problem they maybe like craking up a dist pedal on the distortion channel which sounds terrible . Theirs to ways to get a good dist tone out of this one distortion channel on the amp and you can boost it or running a dist. pedal through the clean. having a nice guitar with nice pickups helps bring out the distortion but it is an awsome amp i only use a compressor and a noise suppresor for
@InitiatorOvChaos11 mt distortion channel i would go with this or a peavey possible a vypyr check out both but they are the best sounding ss i have ever heard. if you want more gain out of this buy like a tube screamer and set everything to 5 except for gain or level set that to 0 or 1 and that will give you a gain boost
@FebruaryDarkness1 I also have an mxr m 108 ten band eq pedal that I could use for a gain boost. Would that work as well as a tube screamer? And I am going to put emg 81 85 pickups on my ibanez. The zakk wylde signature set. So with the EMG active pickups and mxr this amp should sound great right?
@InitiatorOvChaos11 yea lol i think that would do it if your still not satisfyed you can always get a pedal but ithink with that you should be fine i love my amp i play heavey and lot but its up to you to judge but yea i would recommend it to anyone and with that setup you should be able to get what your looking for
@jmatotek216 most people cant afford tube or im sure they would and or they are more fragile especially for band practice check out peavey and randall for best sounding solid state amps out there
Great review man! One of the few that really shows what this monster can do.I got this amp and it sounds INCREDIBLE, even with my Ibanez grg270 and its somehow-maybe-high-output humbuckers it kicks ass. Amp´s distortion is PERFECT for metal (no need for pedals if humbuckers are good). Btw I tried the 'FebruaryDarkness' settings and sound really good, have you thought of patenting them? lol.
@zigurathnqn thanks man and i love it too lol my settings have changed only slighty so like treble 4 1/2 -5 mid 7 bass at 7 or 8 contour 10 gain at 9 and then i have my zoom pedal with a noise gate and a compressor on and sonds killer. THis amp sets the bar for all other solid states i can really crank this thing before it clips like to 7 1/2 unlike other solid states where like half way it gives up not only that it is in my opinon the best solid state dist i have ever heard and love it
@FebruaryDarkness1 o btw february darkness was a band i was in and just decided to make my personal page my new band is call lost sanity you should check them out sometime all shows are done with the randall my recordings was software due to limitations but still sounds nice. I would only ever recommend this or any randall for that matter or a peavey for any kind of amazing dist tone from a solid state randall rules!
@FebruaryDarkness1 That's great man I play in a band too and recorded some songs and stuff. Well the settings I use resemble yours (treble 4, mids 2,5, bass 9 contour 10) and I use a Floor Pod in the effects loop for effects. I can also plug the Pod in the input and use the amp moldels. I decided to buy this head instead of the rh300g3 because that one was said to have some serious volume issues. Well also this randall was cheaper lol. and yeah Randall rulz! These things were born for metal.

@dan95brantner according to the manual the ground lift switch on the back gets rid of 60 cycle hum by taking out the ground on your power chord ?? but basically if your amp has a newly noticed hum to it flip that switch and see if it helps other than that always keep it on gnd or ground
Man this is the only review that makes me wanna go buy it..and i will... i hope i wont regret it!!!also i have the 81/60 jh signature so it must have a great sound..
Do you think that a distortion pedal with this amp will match well..like how about a boss ml-2?can you do a review with a pedal board if you have one?distortion chorus delay wah and all that shit!!! thanks in advance and thanks for the review!!!
can you use this guitar head with any guitar cabinet? i plan to get a marshall mg412a cab an put 2 vintage 30's an 2 greenback celestion speakers in there instead, does this head only work with randall cabs or not?
@xxsladedethxx yea you can use any cab with this just look at the manual to see which speaker out matches the input of the cab 4ohms to 4ohms or 8 to 8
Dude i fucking love this amp, I'm hopefully gonna get it next year after this year, b cuz this year I want an Agile Interceptor Pro 725, and that's why I wanna ask u, do u think it'll sound good with that, or will it sound too muddy, b cuz the Agile is Mahogany body, maple top and maple neck, with EMG 707 actives, what do u think ?? thanx man, and this IS better than the other reviews lmao alot better, NO OFFENSE TO ANYBODY WHO MADE A REVIEW OF THIS AMP, I know it's sorta hard to do so, but thi
im getting an amp for my birthday and im getting a half stack and i play metal and rock like pantera, motley crue, iron maiden and zeppelin and i was thinking about a marshall mg100hdfx or this which would think would be better for my what i play?
@acefrehley813 the distortion on this has so much more it may say marshall but eh it does get enough this you will. Besides that has a great bass response isnt that exspensive looks awsome and i love absolutley love it the only thing better would be a tube.
hey dude, i want to buy this stack, is it good for playing live like bars and stuff? i own a Boss Me-25, you think will sound good for thrash metal???
@CreedofCorpsesTV yea i have played a couple of gigs with this amp miced? and un miced not sure how to spell that anyway yea it will hold up at a gig i have had the volume to like 7 1/2 with gain cranked and the sound didnt clip so plenty loud lol. As for tone its one of the best sounding amps i have ever played this and some peavy amps i think if you eq it right and since you have the pedal boost the gain give it a tighter sound you should be able to achieve some crazy thrash metal
@seedofcorruptionmtl basically its like a measurment of decibels when you get most heads it will have two jacks 4 ohms and 8 ohms basically you look at what your cab your speaker cabinet says where you plug it in it will say 8 or 4 and you plug in you cable to the matching input jack on the head. The jack on you speaker cabinet will say 8ohms or 4ohms. On your head it will have 8ohms or 4ohms you simply match these together
@FebruaryDarkness1 ahh...yeah it just confused the shit outta me haha.imma order this amp later today.I herd the distortion aint that great so im just gonna use my boss dist pedal haha
@dan95brantner from your guitar to amp or head to cab. FRom guitar to amp most definatly a speaker cable will hiss like crazy and make your guitar sound like string. Head to cab yes also if honeslty dont have a speaker cable use a guitar cable but you shold go buy a speaker cable. I used my stagg guitar cable for my setup but i jacked the speaker cable from the p.a . system at my drummers house. ON picking a speaker cable only need like 3 ft 5 at the most and just get a cable thats thick
@dan95brantner But any ways speaker cable is only going to run you 20 bucks at the most! so try to get one but a guitar cable will work but dont rely on it. Speaker cables are made to send high amounts of electiricty and audio singnal through it with nothing to block it guitar cables are made to operate on the lowest noise but keep the singal. The thickness of a guitar cable doesnt affect anything the connections does thickness of a speaker cable keeps out interferance. My little advice to lol
@KjellGibson marshalls are definatly what you want but yes i think you could get a pretty awsome acdc tone out of this let me try it out and ill let you know
@crazya7xs i think it would work pretty awsome with that lol and if your truly un sure get a boss ds pedal to use as a boost and youll be set but i dont think youll need it lol my opinon the best solid state amps ive played are randalls and the peavy vypyr look at both and consider your options dont go by looks and watts go by sound 50 watt vypyr is loud and 75 definatly and the randall definatly kicks ass but look at the two and check them out but yes your guitar will do it justice.
@jackassfilms69 from what ive seen every amp and or guitarist out there uses a boost with their amp even mesas and 6505 etc so with the right eq and a boost yes . The best solid state amps i have ever played are peavy and randall the have the most relastic tone and one of the best tones. SO for thrash you should check out the peavey vypyr or this lol possible a boost but the vypyr may better suit you.
@jackassfilms69 i mean like something to boost your signal which gives you more gain and sometimes tightens up your amp. Basically like buying a tube screamer and turning the gain off and the eq flat but this will boost you guitar signal and alot of bands do this. For thrash i think it would work well if you can try it out do so i would recommend this or the peavy vypyr so check that out.
@FebruaryDarkness1 thanx bro well i'm am gonna get a boss mt2 pedal with this so i think it will work out do you know anybooster that are good ? like can you send me a link ?
@jackassfilms69 basically any tube like distortion pedal set the eq flat and the gain off or at 1 and your good to go. lol tube screamer, zakk wylde distortion umm the nds2 i think? stuff like that are nice
@bullsnake505 i think it would work pretty awsome with that lol and if your truly un sure get a boss ds pedal to use as a boost and youll be set but i dont think youll need it lol
great video the killswitch engage was sick. i am lookin at possibly gettin this amp i play an ibanez rg2ex1 with decent pickups and in your opinion would this amp be abl to handle more death metal stuff in drop B?
@DETHMETALZ4LIFES theirs only two problems with this amp 1. THe caB IS HEAVY in the sense of weight but well worth it comes with wheels. 2. this amp is picky about guitars my jhonson gets a monseterous tone with this amp with stock high output pickups. The distortion on the randall is awsome and you can understand it. HERES THE bottom line if you want distortion from an amp thats going to sound GOOD and be good at loud volumes for the most part go with A RANDALL this one or another or go peavy
@DETHMETALZ4LIFES Randall is very awsome about their distortion this amp COmES EXTREMELY close to the rm100 tube models all randalls distortion is sick . but one sure fire way to gurantee youll love is to possible get a distrotion pedal one like the tube screamer or overdrive ds1 something that will give you a warm tone and very little distotion. DONT GET METAL ZONE OR DEATH METAL none of that crap just get ds1 and turn the gain off and eq flat and it will boost your signal giving you more gain
Alright man thank you so much for your help. It's just a hard decision since ive always had tube amps handed down to me but now I don't have the money to buy a tube amp. By the way, I tested this out and you're definitely right. It blows my mind how well it sounds for a solid state. Thanks again!
@kooldudez8 i know right this sound is killer and you wouldnt expect it especially from a solid state it kicks ass randall is the shit and your welcom man keep on rocking and i will never get rid of this amp
Hey i've been looking in to buying this amp for a while now and I'm still digging it. I play metal and have a schecter hellraiser with emgs. I'd like you're opinion on whether I should get it or not?
@kooldudez8 dude i would get it if you have the chance test i out for sure but in my opinon this is the best solid state amp ive played hands down and it can go loud. THe worst thing that would happen from buying this is if you dont have an effects pedal or a boost if you want more distortion i keep more dist on 8 and a half but if was definatly a amazing decsion for me and it sounds great with my wall mart guitar just not so good without high output pickups.
One question, will it be able to do a stoner metal/rock sound without a fuzz?

@pantera2004hellbound active emgs would be sick on this amp most def and speaker cable wise just get one thats thick other than that any will work
FebruaryDarkness1 6 months ago
Would active emg's sound good on this amp? I've never had a half stack hah also this is a great review of this amp, thanks.
pantera2004hellbound 6 months ago
can you use this guitar head with any guitar cabinet? i plan to get a marshall mg412a cab an put 2 vintage 30's an 2 greenback celestion speakers in there instead, does this head only work with randall cabs or not?
xxsladedethxx 6 months ago
@xxsladedethxx yea you can use any cab with this just look at the manual to see which speaker out matches the input of the cab 4ohms to 4ohms or 8 to 8

im getting an amp for my birthday and im getting a half stack and i play metal and rock like pantera, motley crue, iron maiden and zeppelin and i was thinking about a marshall mg100hdfx or this which would think would be better for my what i play?
acefrehley813 7 months ago
@acefrehley813 the distortion on this has so much more it may say marshall but eh it does get enough this you will. Besides that has a great bass response isnt that exspensive looks awsome and i love absolutley love it the only thing better would be a tube.
FebruaryDarkness1 7 months ago
Respond to this video... check out some videos of the mg100hdgx but i recommend this for metal
FebruaryDarkness1 7 months ago
hey dude, i want to buy this stack, is it good for playing live like bars and stuff? i own a Boss Me-25, you think will sound good for thrash metal???
CreedofCorpsesTV 7 months ago
@CreedofCorpsesTV yea i have played a couple of gigs with this amp miced? and un miced not sure how to spell that anyway yea it will hold up at a gig i have had the volume to like 7 1/2 with gain cranked and the sound didnt clip so plenty loud lol. As for tone its one of the best sounding amps i have ever played this and some peavy amps i think if you eq it right and since you have the pedal boost the gain give it a tighter sound you should be able to achieve some crazy thrash metal
FebruaryDarkness1 7 months ago
@FebruaryDarkness1 yeah!!! thanks a lot!
CreedofCorpsesTV 7 months ago
@CreedofCorpsesTV how are you getting your distorted sound right now ? what equipment
FebruaryDarkness1 7 months ago
@FebruaryDarkness1 right now i own a Line 6, 30 watts and it sounds let say, "decent"
CreedofCorpsesTV 7 months ago

what are ohms?
seedofcorruptionmtl 8 months ago
@seedofcorruptionmtl basically its like a measurment of decibels when you get most heads it will have two jacks 4 ohms and 8 ohms basically you look at what your cab your speaker cabinet says where you plug it in it will say 8 or 4 and you plug in you cable to the matching input jack on the head. The jack on you speaker cabinet will say 8ohms or 4ohms. On your head it will have 8ohms or 4ohms you simply match these together
FebruaryDarkness1 8 months ago
@FebruaryDarkness1 ahh...yeah it just confused the shit outta me haha.imma order this amp later today.I herd the distortion aint that great so im just gonna use my boss dist pedal haha

seedofcorruptionmtl 8 months ago
and does it matter if u use a guitar cable instead of a speaker cable?
dan95brantner 9 months ago
@dan95brantner from your guitar to amp or head to cab. FRom guitar to amp most definatly a speaker cable will hiss like crazy and make your guitar sound like string. Head to cab yes also if honeslty dont have a speaker cable use a guitar cable but you shold go buy a speaker cable. I used my stagg guitar cable for my setup but i jacked the speaker cable from the p.a . system at my drummers house. ON picking a speaker cable only need like 3 ft 5 at the most and just get a cable thats thick
FebruaryDarkness1 9 months ago
@dan95brantner But any ways speaker cable is only going to run you 20 bucks at the most! so try to get one but a guitar cable will work but dont rely on it. Speaker cables are made to send high amounts of electiricty and audio singnal through it with nothing to block it guitar cables are made to operate on the lowest noise but keep the singal. The thickness of a guitar cable doesnt affect anything the connections does thickness of a speaker cable keeps out interferance. My little advice to lol
FebruaryDarkness1 9 months ago
is this good for getting a tone similar to Disturbed or Godsmack or any deep tones like that?
dan95brantner 9 months ago
Any descent AC/DC tones in this one? Maybe lower the lead gain and using that epiphone? Thanks for great video!
KjellGibson 9 months ago
@KjellGibson marshalls are definatly what you want but yes i think you could get a pretty awsome acdc tone out of this let me try it out and ill let you know
FebruaryDarkness1 9 months ago
Will this sound good with a Synyster Gates Custom?
crazya7xs 9 months ago
@crazya7xs i think it would work pretty awsome with that lol and if your truly un sure get a boss ds pedal to use as a boost and youll be set but i dont think youll need it lol my opinon the best solid state amps ive played are randalls and the peavy vypyr look at both and consider your options dont go by looks and watts go by sound 50 watt vypyr is loud and 75 definatly and the randall definatly kicks ass but look at the two and check them out but yes your guitar will do it justice.
FebruaryDarkness1 9 months ago
would this be good for some Thrash Metal
jackassfilms69 10 months ago
@jackassfilms69 hahaha im asking myself the same question xD
CreedofCorpsesTV 8 months ago
@jackassfilms69 from what ive seen every amp and or guitarist out there uses a boost with their amp even mesas and 6505 etc so with the right eq and a boost yes . The best solid state amps i have ever played are peavy and randall the have the most relastic tone and one of the best tones. SO for thrash you should check out the peavey vypyr or this lol possible a boost but the vypyr may better suit you.
FebruaryDarkness1 8 months ago
@FebruaryDarkness1 When You Say Boost Do you mean like a pedal?? or Eq Booster
?
jackassfilms69 8 months ago
@jackassfilms69 i mean like something to boost your signal which gives you more gain and sometimes tightens up your amp. Basically like buying a tube screamer and turning the gain off and the eq flat but this will boost you guitar signal and alot of bands do this. For thrash i think it would work well if you can try it out do so i would recommend this or the peavy vypyr so check that out.
FebruaryDarkness1 8 months ago
@FebruaryDarkness1 thanx bro well i'm am gonna get a boss mt2 pedal with this so i think it will work out do you know anybooster that are good ? like can you send me a link ?
or the name
jackassfilms69 8 months ago
@jackassfilms69 basically any tube like distortion pedal set the eq flat and the gain off or at 1 and your good to go. lol tube screamer, zakk wylde distortion umm the nds2 i think? stuff like that are nice
FebruaryDarkness1 8 months ago
@FebruaryDarkness1 Thanx bro :) can't wait to shred on this
jackassfilms69 8 months ago
my bad dont know how that happened. but do you think it would work with a dave mustain vmntx because the pickups are dean humbuckers.
bullsnake505 10 months ago
@bullsnake505 i think it would work pretty awsome with that lol and if your truly un sure get a boss ds pedal to use as a boost and youll be set but i dont think youll need it lol

great video the killswitch engage was sick. i am lookin at possibly gettin this amp i play an ibanez rg2ex1 with decent pickups and in your opinion would this amp be abl to handle more death metal stuff in drop B?
DETHMETALZ4LIFES 10 months ago
@DETHMETALZ4LIFES theirs only two problems with this amp 1. THe caB IS HEAVY in the sense of weight but well worth it comes with wheels. 2. this amp is picky about guitars my jhonson gets a monseterous tone with this amp with stock high output pickups. The distortion on the randall is awsome and you can understand it. HERES THE bottom line if you want distortion from an amp thats going to sound GOOD and be good at loud volumes for the most part go with A RANDALL this one or another or go peavy
FebruaryDarkness1 10 months ago
@DETHMETALZ4LIFES Randall is very awsome about their distortion this amp COmES EXTREMELY close to the rm100 tube models all randalls distortion is sick . but one sure fire way to gurantee youll love is to possible get a distrotion pedal one like the tube screamer or overdrive ds1 something that will give you a warm tone and very little distotion. DONT GET METAL ZONE OR DEATH METAL none of that crap just get ds1 and turn the gain off and eq flat and it will boost your signal giving you more gain
FebruaryDarkness1 10 months ago
@DETHMETALZ4LIFES THE PEDAL IS REALLY NOT NEEDED BUT IF YOU DONT LIKE HOW IT SOUNDS WITH YOU GUITAR GO THAT ROUTE THIS AMP IS WORTH IT BY FAR.
FebruaryDarkness1 10 months ago
@FebruaryDarkness1 thanks man thats a pretty straight up answer you and a few other guys have officialy sold me on this.
DETHMETALZ4LIFES 10 months ago
@DETHMETALZ4LIFES buying an amp isnt easy so i try to help but i love it wouldnt go back and wont buy another solid state besides randall
FebruaryDarkness1 10 months ago
@DETHMETALZ4LIFES IT CAN handle drop b i have done it might need to roll down the bass just a tad though lol depending how bad it shakes.
FebruaryDarkness1 10 months ago
Sorry it was a typo I mean megadeth
AJG2718 11 months ago
Hey I just watched your video and I was curious if this amp is good for Thrash Metal like Slayer megalith
AJG2718 11 months ago
@AJG2718 i think it could handle it this things a best and the best sounding solid state amp ive found
FebruaryDarkness1 11 months ago
Alright dude looking forward to them
kooldudez8 11 months ago
One more question, are you gonna start making some covers with that beast? Lol
kooldudez8 11 months ago
@kooldudez8 hell yea just havent yea its been at my drummers house
FebruaryDarkness1 11 months ago
Alright man thank you so much for your help. It's just a hard decision since ive always had tube amps handed down to me but now I don't have the money to buy a tube amp. By the way, I tested this out and you're definitely right. It blows my mind how well it sounds for a solid state. Thanks again!
kooldudez8 11 months ago
@kooldudez8 i know right this sound is killer and you wouldnt expect it especially from a solid state it kicks ass randall is the shit and your welcom man keep on rocking and i will never get rid of this amp
FebruaryDarkness1 11 months ago
@DragulaROB thanks man
FebruaryDarkness1 11 months ago
Hey i've been looking in to buying this amp for a while now and I'm still digging it. I play metal and have a schecter hellraiser with emgs. I'd like you're opinion on whether I should get it or not?
kooldudez8 1 year ago
@kooldudez8 dude i would get it if you have the chance test i out for sure but in my opinon this is the best solid state amp ive played hands down and it can go loud. THe worst thing that would happen from buying this is if you dont have an effects pedal or a boost if you want more distortion i keep more dist on 8 and a half but if was definatly a amazing decsion for me and it sounds great with my wall mart guitar just not so good without high output pickups.
