and for those arguing about rap or rock.. well, why dont you stop arguing and listen to what you want instead of wasting your time... what if someone likes rap more than rock? what if someone likes rock more than rap? who gives a flying fuck about what an individual likes? yet again: why should I care?
PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and... BIGGIE SMALLS!!!!!!!!!! haha you people are pathetic.
people we must wake up my generation there all asleep and not even a rock to their head will wake them believe me ive tried how can we survive as a musically tallented generation when there is very little of it left soo sad we need floyd like bands in this shity 2000s i hate rap pop and all that recycled bs but unfortunatly most of my generation loves it and if we dont do something soon we may never get bak in line and continue to produce such psycadelic masterpieces that bring a tear to my ear
if you like syd's music, please check out my music! Search for Roger Delarge on facebook or youtube! Syd is my favorite artist and a huge inspiration for me! thanks ;)
The risk of writing an album almost every year is to create one whose sounds are quite similar to the previous. Although Pink Floyd wrote an album almost every year, each was different to the previous. This is something magic. This is the magic of Pink Floyd. This is why Pink Floyd were magic. If they still played, they'd clean some shit someone dares write nowadays. Anyway, when I listen to this album I wonder what Pink Floyd would have been if Syd had kept playing till their end.
@pinkfloydson87 i think had syd kept playing pink floyd would not have been as great. dont get me wrong the albums with him are amazing and he was a great song writer, but i think wat waters and gilmour wrote later on blew syds stuff out of the water. and if syd had still been experimenting with drugs his music would slowly destroy the band.
@BigDaddyCooL1 they wouldn't have produced dark side of the moon or the wall, that's for sure
as you said though, he would have kept experimenting with drugs and led the band downhill, which, if i'm not mistaken, is the reason they let go of barrett in the first place? he was unreliable and experimenting too much.... if he stayed with the band on drugs they wouldn't have been successfuly because of antics like him not singing or playing guitar on stage, eventually not showing up, etc...
me and my best friend whom i consider my brother, used to sit up late at night, stoned, and listen to this, making all the strange sounds at the beginning.. lol oh to be young...
haha, i always thought it was some kind of joke as to "power to hate" or something alike...
shit, i can still remember my bad trips during this theme... how amazing and comfortably felt when the organ comes in suddenly and covers you as a mother...
Toc H is a charity that,I think, looks after old soldiers. It was established during the war,and was originally called Talbot House. Up until 1942,the phonetic alphabet word for 'T' was 'toc'.It then became 'tare', and is now 'tango'. so 'Toc H' stands for 'Talbot House'.Haven't a scooby about 'Pow R' though. 'Prisoner of War Roderick'?
According to Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, the original four members of Pink Floyd were present at Abbey Road Studios and watched the Beatles recording "Lovely Rita" from the Sgt Pepper album. Voice effects and noises similar to those used in "Lovely Rita" could be heard in Pow R. Toc H., recorded next door during the same period as Pink Floyd also recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Whether Pink Floyd were influenced by "Lovely Rita" or not is debatable.
For some reason, this is my favorite song on this album. It's 'caveman music.' It's so strange, and...erotic? For some other reason, it feels like that word should be used to describe this song.
To be honest, a few of their early songs sound pretty cool, but much of this first album sounds like alot of random hippie noodlings to my ears. It may have been an innovative record, but it hasn't aged well in my opinion. Pepper and early Hendrix put it to shame I think.
I've no idea what hip-hop is but I know one thing - this album is amazing. I discovered it when I was about 12 and still love it all these years later!
The best Floyd's album ever...with meddle i think...but i prefer this one to meddle..just a little more...this is the bible of psiychedelic rock! And this is a......a natural phenom....
Man, this album isn't what got me into Pink Floyd initially but in some ways I like it even more than Wish You Were Here or Animals. Great stuff, really.
Perhaps the first recorded human beat box and uncelebrated founder of todays modern hiphop, we can all thank this album for what we now know today as "lil wayne"
SRone45 - as a Pink Floyd fan and hiphop producer im insulted by your narrow mindedness. My previous comment was clearly a bad joke and it was not my intention to insult or offend anyone. I'll have you know I have sampled quite a few Floyd songs (off of the original records which i own) for hiphop beats. So if you were offended by Your Floyd being associated with rap then so be it, My Floyd not only is associated but woven into the very fabric of the genre.
all music from Pink Floyd - 2Pac, from Frank Sinatra to Mayhem rules so fuck off the lot of you, music is my life, I love it all, music to me is like candy, I can't get enough and am always looking for new and innovative stuff.
not so. rap and hip hop are good in their own ways. limiting yourself to a specific genre of music is foolish. with that said, my favorite music is from the mid sixties to 1974. i don't think rap was invented back then.
