  • Liberals = bye bye freedom. Modern Liberals have nothing to do with Liberty at all.

  • @SwifTst Please be honest Liberals always hog the center of the road and that's their claim to fame. The C.R.A.P. wrong right was united under an autocrat, forming a bloc, later being Conservative.

The Democrats are trying not only to survive but thrive healthily.

Anyway this coaltion will never happen with any party it's just fear tactics; also the people should know the Goveneor General has the Queen's mandate to ultimately decide who governs & should be of sound mind.

    God save the Queen!

  • this is why is stand for conservative, i also believe it is the most democratic way of governing to create peace and allow people to live their way without dictatorship... I understand why the ndp only ends 3rd especially during the economy where it would be devastating for taxpayers... This is why I dont like the opposition... I know for a fact that the ndp would boost tax costs with all the social services they would provide to a point we cannot afford especially during hard times

  • @railroadtie69 The NDP actually has the best balanced budgets for all the provinces it held. Tommy Douglas had a record 17 in Saskatchewan.

  • i never dared to vote for the socialist and seperatist scumbags... I support capitalist democracy like my prim minister stands for, not the socialist crap... i only vote right wing, i believe in pride of my country, not the tratorous way and i believe in justice, not being sympathetic wth criminals which is totally something the ndp and liberals endorse... and the seperatists? well all they care about is quebec and screw the rest of canada... i believe in a good unity for this country

  • @railroadtie69 So you like selling your country to the United States?

  • I don't trust any of the people I have a choice on employing with my mark on a ballet.

If they don't stand for printing Canadian money instead of Borrowing it to spend it so you have things to by while you pay for their loans.

Take the lean off your life and get on with it.

  • When the 'Premier Sinister'

of a country needs to make a call to hatred against a nation (Québec a nation within Canada his own words)

A nation who also contributed to build up this country.

In Order to redo his majority times are bleak for this country ...

    Joyeux Noël O Canada

  • Mister Harper has just closed parliament in the middle of the greatest economic crisis of our time in order to save his job. Mr. Harper doesnt believe coalitions are un-democratic. In fact, in 2005 while he was in opposition he spoke publicly about the conservatives the NDP and Guess who?... The Block Quebecois forming a coalition if the liberals couldnt form a majority of their own in parliament. At best, Mr. Harper is disingenuous and power hungry. The conservatives must get rid of him.

  • Maybe so, but it seems like most Canadians trust Harper and don't want this coalition to rule.

  • Idiot.

Not every vote not for a party is a vote against them. By your rationale, the Conservatives has the fewest votes against them and the most in favour.

  • Enjoy your Christmas break, Harper!

    After that, you're done.

  • What do you do when you can't get elected through an election process and you hunger for power? Overthrow the elected official? Sound kinda 3rd world? I would rather have another election and let us citizens decide who leads. Legal as a coalition is, it is still dirty and there's no place for it. The rules have to change. No appointed Prime Ministers please, only elected ones.

  • Hello toiluopbruce, not once in the history of our country has the PM been elected. sorry... that's a different form of government. We elect a parliament and the parliament in effect elects the PM. Americans get to elect a President. Canadians get to elect a MP who represent us in parliament.

  • You are an idiot. You're ripping stats out of context. 37% Voted for Conservatives, did 63% explicitly vote AGAINST conservatives? NO. They voted for the other respective parties. Funny did you add up the math, 71.96% of Canadians voted AGAINST the liberals - that's if I used your idiotic math. What harper is doing is illegal and undemocratic? No it's perfectly legal, you do not know shit about our countries system and you need to STFU and sit down.

  • Ranting and Raving on the floor of the House of Commons ... hardly acceptable.

  • WOW< LIBEAL NDO Lefties FASCISM!!! Wow, we are blessed to be living in such times! If the Coalition goes forth, it is the END OF THE DOMINION! FU&K YA! Watch out for ISLMAMOFASCIT meddling as well. Could get really bad fighting the Leftiei Liberal nwew Green Nazi's! HA

  • wrong. both the coalition and the prorogue are legal and democratic...

  • Give your head a shake. Did the 63% who didn't vote conservative vote for a coalition government? If your not sure I'll tell you. No. They voted for a party that they believed in. If they wanted one of the other 2 they would have voted for them.

If the Gov. General must choose, choose a general election, and let the people vote for a coalition.

  • 7 weeks ago we all voted and Conservatives won. They haven't done anything wrong, the economic crisis is not their fault. Its affecting the whole world! When we voted we didn't vote for a coalition government which will without doubt fail, like it did in World war 1, we voted for one party and of those votes the conservatives got the most! This coalition bullshit is just Dion's need and craving for power and to be the PM of Canada. Enjoy having a illiterate Quebecer as the PM.

  • Harper is a traitor...

  • I thought Canada was a democracy, but apparently I was wrong.

While we take pride in Canada's role in defending democracy in Afghanistan, will we idly watch it violated here at home? In many countries, democracy has been preserved or won through civil war.

Perhaps we Canadians take it for granted.

  • That is such a tired argument. If you really want to talk about who voted what, you might also want to note that absolutely NO ONE voted for this coalition. They voted one or the other. To imply that this situation would be exactly the same if this coalition was elected is pretty silly.

If you're all so sure that these guys could be elected in a fair election, why are you so scared of one? Let's see what happens.

  • Harper is a liar and a cheat. He is the worst kind of leader in a democracy; he cares not for governing but loves the power and control. His focus is on majority government at all cost. He has nothing but contempt for Canadians. His legislative agenda is not morally guided. We should not miss an opportunity to remove this viper. Like his friend George Bush, he is excellent at uniting his enemies against him. No leader of mine can be as stupid and arrogant as Stephen Harper.

  • Unfortunately there is a historic precedent for the type of actions that are now being taken: it is called the Roman Revolution.

In quick terms, the Roman Republic was much like Canada with written and unwritten laws ruled by past precedent. That meant the Senate was the executive and the Plebian assembly was used to pass laws. This was ignored by Tiberius Grachus and the result was a gradual decline into chaos as the Senate lost power, the populist generals used troops to back them.

  • As the generals took control, civil war broke out as one faction fought the other. This civil war and chaos brought about the eventual de facto dissolution of the Republic and rise of the Empire.

This move by the coalition won't create a civil war, but it will create a precedent for unneccesary political instability.

  • youre kidding? lmao. this is canada not the roman republic. there is no comparing the two. there will be no civil war because of a coalition government. wow lmao...

  • You tell me Stevie!!

  • I was typing too fast... I meant "them" of course.

  • The actions of this so called coalition speaks volumes of their ideas of democracy. These men are selfish spoiled children who are willing to sacrifice the stability of this nation for their own twisted desires. Its time the silent majority wake up and let their voices be heard. Put an end to this quibbling and get back to work making this country what it should be!!! An example to the rest of the world. Democracy now and forever!

  • Chosen by the people. The coalition system exist in Germany 1966, 2005, Japan 1993, Finland, Belgium, and so on. Even our Great Britain had a coalition in the 30's. Are they evil antidemocratic nations? If the Alliance and the Prog. Conserv. had not joined in one single party, you would be there.

Break up the country! I'm Quebecer, I'm not a separatist and independence is at its lowest point in history, so don't bring fear and your wussy people into this. The US do that, but I won't accept it.

  • god, hes so fake.

  • so true

  • whether you like Stephen Harper or not, the alternative is the empowerment of bloc quebecquois. Is splitting up Canada as a country better than dealing with some peoples unhappy result of democracy?

  • Please that's just propaganda, I can assure you Quebec is not separating. That dream is dead, there is no way Canadians would let that happen.

  • 'Assure' is a strong word, unless you are close, personal friends with Gilles Duceppe I don't think you can 'assure' anything. They aren't called 'Quebec Separatists' for kicks.

The point is that Canadians are not given a choice here to 'let that happen'. We do not get to choose what leaders are going to be elevated into power.

  • Sounds to me like he's begging.

  • I'm so embarrassed to be Canadian whenever I hear this guy speak. He's worse than Palin and seems to speak as though his audience was 12-years old. Unfortunately, many of his fans aren't far off.

  • I think Canada is in need of a revolution. There is no reason why we should be having an economic crisis. We have a monopoly on so much natural resources. We should be the most prosperous. I say disband all parties and elect a brand new party, one lead by someone who actually cares about Canada and not the interests of the US. Come on Canada, rise up and fight the corrupt powers!
