What are the "spikes" on the mandrel made of? Are they pieces of metal driven into the mandrel and then sharpened so they can go into the bowl? I'm getting tired of having to deal with the faceplate on my electic lathe so i'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
It's fascinating to watch you work! I admit that I am more comfortable turning miniatures. Large pieces of wood, spinning around very fast, scares the living daylights out of me.
My 4 year old boy was glued to the video when he heard the robin hood music and very impressed when robin hood himself picked up the bowl!!
Really splendid. What equipment and method did you use to get such good detail on the still shot of the bowl? videos on youtube, including those I submit as MP4 files, could improve with higher resolution.
Hi Bob. I've had a quick look at your own videos and your quality is only better because you have little action. The still is good because it's still. I'm working on improving rendering and staying within the size limit but it takes time. Would you like me to rate your videos 1* on content??
AMAZING!

"Creepin Up The Backstairs" by the Fratellis, great live band if you get the chance to see them.

Robinwood, I love how you make bowls. After watching your demo I am not worried if we run out of energy here in the states. Thanks

How cool is that! I want to build a lathe like that. I have played on my dads shop smith but that looks so cool compared to the metal noisy machine.
