those .17s are great shooting rounds. out to 300 yards, there isn't a squirrel whose life wouldn't be in jeopardy. nice shot on the dime. keep it up, and one day we'll see a video of you shooting a 1000 yard shot.
That's some good shooting. A golf ball isn't that big at 100 yards. I also own a .17 HMR (Savage) and I've shot a quarter a few times in a row, but only at the 50 yard line. Other shooters better than me do that same coin trick at the 100 no problem.
That's a great shot.
Look into a .204 Ruger - same basic thing - very, very small and light bullet, very, very fast. Just as accurate. I'll bet a good shot like you could do that golf ball at 200 with a .204 Ruger.
11 year old, wow tell that kid i said nice shootin! lol only thing i got to shoot as a 11 year old was bb guns, didnt get my first rifle til i was in my teens, i bet he has a blast shooting that thing.
@81Bobbo thats what i hate about the sport of shooting, people cant appreciate other people, instead of telling someone good job, or nice shot, they instead try to show how much better they are. so congrats on your attempt to one up an 11 year old.
Nice shooting! I Have a collection of mainly assault rifles, and 2 AKMs (AK-47 Modernized with Stamped receiver making it stronger) and I can hit just about anything up to and including 50 to 300 yards, with no scope... It takes a lot of practice though, only I shot Rolaids... The explode into dust when hit... I want to get a .17 Cal. Firearm, but I don't have the money... They are deadly little cartridges, and I think they would work well for a sidearm, but using AP rounds. 10++
can people just either use 177. or pellet gun nlols but i like your shooting i am trying to upload videos of me shooting my 22 cal and 20 guage and 12 guage (well the 12 guage i wouldnt upload because i get knocked on my ass rofl)
u probly dont know how to shoot..i`ve shot a twelve gauge last year and im only 13...last year i was twelve...i shot it sitting down,u have to squeeze it really tight to ur shoulder..and with a shotgun u need to bend ur head down to look down the sights so that u have the whole butt on ur shoulder and not just half(thats how i shoot a rifle...)
For anyone who doubts this, I have a Savage .17 HMR and it can do as well with a carefully zeroed scope. First I zeroed at 100 feet , then moved the target to 300 feet (100 yards)
I know the distance because it is the limits of my yard for which I pay taxes.
With just a saw horse padded with a blanket for a rest and kneeling on the ground, it consistently shot groups of 1 inch! I was amazed.
Just backing up your claim for any naysayers. The little .17 is fast and very accurate. Much more so than the .22 but it costs almost twice as much for ammo where I live. Hope someone will start selling it in bulk.
keep on practicing so you will have a sharp eye if ever you need it.
good stuff, i got my marlin 917vsf last week, 1st day i got too shoot it it was windy as hell, but still did a half inch MOA at 100m with a 5 shot group, i was shooting out to 300m but with a few feet drop, wasnt on paper thou just into a dirt bank. ill have a few 400-500m 17hmr vids out in a month or 2.
my m4 is more accurate than my mini 14 but the mini 14 is more challenging to hit something golf ball size at 100 yards! i usually run out of golf balls before bullets!
you must know that any 22 will drop 2 or 3 inches at 100 yrds without any wind the 17 cal is deadly at a hundred yards in high wind check out the vid 100 yard toonie
@BigGunz357 I have yet to see a 17 hmr bolt action with iron sights. I've got a savage 93R17 and it's tons of fun with a sweet 17 3-12x scope.

no aftermath of the golf ball? I wanted to see it...

i dont think that was 100 yards out because it would have taken him alot longer to walk back to the target than that. 100 yards=football field

the longest shot i have taken with my savage is 225 yard into a paper target it dropped 24 inches
we were shooting 200 meters (measured with a gps) and got a 4 inch patten with a cross wind gusting)
taiming71 2 years ago
Try shooting a .223 case at 100 meters or a swinging moving golf ball on a windy day. Check out my video of this under "trick shot project."
