  • it has to do with lumberjacks and crack of tree echos

  • we are born with that In Michigan

  • ass kickin bass line!

  • Does everybody want to? Now give me that lick. One of the best ever.

  • Their best alum is Mark Don Mel 1969 - 1971 If you can find it!!

  • The start of this is IDENTICAL to the start of So This Is Love by Van Halen.

  • Grand Funk Railroad IS An American Band

  • my 1st band we opened with we're an american band

  • Grand Funk may not be the best...but they sure are good and they move your behind, what more could you ask for.

  • Those two persons who dislikes this song are missing for two years, died a few months ago all alone in the dessert and just need to fall... they just don't know it yet.

  • damn, they straight funked my ears rawdog.

  • E Pluribus Funk classic from '71-'72

  • This song is so frikin good that I waNT TO BUY THE WORLD A COKE..................

  • FUNK ME IN THE BASS!

  • There sure was a lot of great music in the late 60s/early 70s, I consider 1967 to 1973 to be the golden era of classic rock

  • Great song, doesn't seem to get as much airplay as their other hits

  • U damned right it is!!! Love it, baby!!!

  • ♫♪♫♪ YEA GRAND FUNK RAILROAD ♫♪♫♪

  • God bless musicians, in it for music. Awesome tune.

  • just 10 min ago i was playing bass to this, everything full volume. just 5 sec before the 1 min long ending, my computer speakers crashed and the song was still going. im more proud then disapointed, for this isnt the first time when my speakers died. one of the greatest accomplishments a teen can have.

    Amen. xD

  • From this day, Grand Funk is my favorite band!

  • these cats still beat anything out there on mainstream music still till this day. nothing thats produced today can ever compare or come close to these cats.

  • @daddyishot2 you are so right.

  • First two LP's from 1969 and E Plurbus Funk are by far the best ever Grand Funk Railroad. The only other song released by them after 1972 I liked is Some Kind Of Wonderful.

  • 1 person who dislikes this song obviously does not like any good time & footstompin. What a miserable waste of life that has.

  • nearly brought down shea stadium with this song!

  • Grand Freaking Funk!!! At their best!!!

  • Marc, Don, & Mel at their best!!!

  • OW YEAR!

  • here ya go Dave...miss ya lots dude

  • GFR kicks ass!

  • I can't stop my leg ! There it goes again !

  • Mark Farner is one of the cleanest/dirty mofo's out there. This band really respected that the hammer HAS to come down.. always - like Humble Pie and Deep Purple as well-no B.S.

  • that sound was born in Michigan,a blend of MOTOWN and white rock bands like Ted Nugent and M.C.5 Mitch Ryder and Detroit Wheels,Iggy pop I can go on...

  • this is REAL FUCKIN' ROCK & ROLL !!!

  • That´s the kind of rock I love!! The best!

  • Why do rock bands of today not play like this????? Can they just not accept the fact that it just might be better than what their already putting out?

  • what a rhythm section! don brewer and Mel Schafer!

  • What happen with these 3 guys they were great. Was happy to go to 1 of there concerts.

  • AHHHHHHHH SHEEEEIITT!! LOVE LOVE!!!!

  • Funk everything!!!

  • GRAND FREAKIN FUNK FREAKIN RAIL FREAKIN ROAD!!!

  • For me one of the best for all the time, de las mejores de todos los tiempos. Musica para dar saltos, Footsompin' Music

  • rock n roll

    nuff said

  • Top !!

  • K'n A Jackson!!

  • K'n A Jackson!

  • This was the first cover my garage band put together. Great music lives forever!

  • If u don't dance to this ur dead!!! Wink!!

  • i've heard them do at least twelve different versions of this song, and their studio version is clean and heavily rocks. i'm thankful that i can show off a handful of GFR songs like this one on the greatest hits album to my musician friends who have never heard...

the wild, shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner, the bone rattling bass of Mel Schacher and the (more than) competent drumming of Don Brewer!

  • @astronomius why do we need new bands? everyone knows that rock attained perfection in 1974, it's a scientific fact.

  • @NightoftheSlunks Try Volbeat. A lot of their music is old rock only rocked up to a heavier version. Dusty Springfield's I only want to be with you they gave a giant face lift to as a lot of others. That song is where I started with them & got hooked. The lead singer Michael Poulsen looks a bit like Elvis & sounds like him only heavier, clear strong voice. He isn't an Elvis impersonator. Have a listen to a few of their as 'We' & Radio Girl, more 5o's heavy rock.

  • @inspire734 my comment wasn't serious, i like a lot of new stuff. astronomius quoted the simpsons episode where homer tries to teach the kids about classic rock, so i was just sending another quote back to him from that same episode.

  • greeeeeeeeeeeaaatt....

  • Says it all, notfragile and the Fred, dudes!

    :O)

    Buddy

  • To me, there's just no kind of music better than the hybrid of heavy rock and soul music, and NO ONE played that combination better than the Mighty Railroad!

  • @notfragile33 - well said. I tend to hear a bit of a bluesy influence with GFR's music. Love the organ work, guitars, bass, percussion, vocals. It all just works to perfection. Long live GFR!!

  • @majorxlr8n totally agree! I think they are a whole lot more bluesy than a lot of the English bands who claimed to be blues-based. Not to mention the fact that Mark's family roots are in the Mississippi delta, so he was a whole lot closer to the source!

  • @notfragile33 Mark F from GFR grew up across the street from my aunt in Flint Michigan.

  • Kids, it doesn't get any better than this. Farner was / is fantastic!

  • When anything gets over copied off of without creative new change, the novelty wears off and dies. Even from the Beatles to Elvis Presley had to mature and change from the 1950's and 1960's early days to create new sound and vocal style or they would have died out early in their fame.

  • i like high tech but i believe music has reached it's limit of creativity about a decade ago. everything now can only copy after everything from the 20th century and go no further which is why music is so dead and boring in this decade.

  • The problem with music is the great groups and singers have died or retired too long ago to keep the legacy exist from one generation to the other generation.

  • @NiagaraFalls4424

that's why this music still exists in our hearts and minds, and not just with the mummies who created, produced and inspired it... somebody truly talented will eventually pick it back up again,

    guaranteed!

  • i have questioned for years if there are any good singers that still exist born after 1969 or 1975 with total uncreative lazy garbage bunch of sound for the past decade?

  • It just won't end. Now we have the Lady Gaga's,Kayne West and the Other gargage that makes me if there are any good singers that exist that were born after 1969.

  • There are singers like Kelly Clarkson and Britney Spears then there are SOUL SINGERS likes Janis Joplin and Mark Farner. Singing is boring with NO SOUL

  • britney spears sings??---another no talent blonde!!

  • @maggiemae70

Saw Britney a few years ago at the Tweeter Center, was a 14 band radio station concert, featured Matchbox 20, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Lionel Ritchy, Meriah Carey, Run DMC, (W/ Steven Tyler & Joe Perry,) Donna Summer, Ben Folds 5, ect. Pushed a bunch of 13 year old's out of the way to see Spears (Did not care what she was "singing") she dances like a dump truck and had a silly beehive hairdo, she smokes and is out of shape, hops around panting, doesn't even sing!

    All recorded.

  • Favorite GFR song along with Some Kind Of Wonderful and Locomotion.

  • @NiagaraFalls4424 What a maroon! Those cover tunes SUCKED!!! Listen to all of the album E Pluribus Funk. It'll rock yer ass off!!!

  • I listened to Grand Funk Railroad in High School, all these years later their still the shitzs....Great band

  • Kids. This is Rock!! Can you feel it inside and out!! This is what it was.

  • I TOTALLY agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • formidable! fantastische! great!

  • Agree. Cum dumpsters like Kelly Clarskon, Jessica Simpleton and Britnay "Look how fat and Ugly my Vagina Is" Spears ought to be giving these guys head for a month, thanking them paving the way for them.

  • Kelly ROCKS. LUV Kelly.

  • Wouldn't it be cool if corporate rock died. Bands could play music like this for a profit and let Kelly Clarkson burn in Hell.

  • Well i wouldnt want her to burn in hell but maybe she could write a song she wanted to then. Corp Rock SUCKS!!!! Why is it that these pieces of shit latch onto one sound then decide that we have to listen to bands that all sound the fokkin same for the next decade? We need a fokkin music revolt and revelution in this country!

  • FUNKIN AWESOME

  • Too TRUE!!!!

  • espetacular!!!!!

  • TRUE CLASSIC ROCK

  • I just KNEW it!! '71 was a VERY good year!!!

  • Egad! What year was this???? I sure remember dancin' to this one!!! (wink!!)

  • 1971!

  • Can see why they call it the footstomping music. Its the best......Thanks for posting

  • this kicks royal ass!!!!!!!!--gotta get up and dance

  • I love Funk yeeehaa :D
