john lennon, or any other Beatle, were ever considered "hasbeens". they have always been looked up to, especially by any musicion. as far as kid reporters wh did not grow up with them, who cares what they think?. talk to any "star", or musician, and most will agree thati it was not for the Beatles. they would not exist !!!
John was targeted by the government because of his control over a wide range of people and populations not only here but around the world! He summed it up himself when he said simply that," The Beatles Were More Popular Than Jesus Christ"! Literally speaking he was right and so did others too, so they eliminated him!
@alrozz Somehow I fail to see why he was chosen to be shot. What a fuckin' stupid comment.!! If you were targeted to be shot & killed somehow that insignificant event would surely not even make the 11 o'clock news. No one gives a shit.
@CubanCheGuevara That is an excellent idea. Maybe you can sneak into the place where that jerk is locked up and do just that. Remember to shoot a video please. You will be quite the hero. Good Luck
@CubanCheGuevara truth is......McCartney was the main hit maker after The Beatles broke up and Lennon was considered a has been pretty much just before he was killed. It wasn't until afterwards that he became this icon that he is today. He put out some great records though.
@CubanCheGuevara I think this is mainly in the '70's. I think all four members of the band were under a huge amount of pressure to create something similar after they had broken up, to what the Beatles were in the sixties, or possibly better. An impossible task. I think the public pretty much had unrealistic expectations of these guys, and as such, considered them hasbeens when they did not produce "Beatlesque"type material.
@martinone9 Yes, I agree with Che, Now whether he was a has been, I don't agree that he was, but he was certainly portrayed in the media as one. Being a teenager in the 70's and a fan since '73, I remember that quite distinctly. I always felt that there was a bunch of dishonesty when after he died, everyone came out of the woodwork saying how wonderful he was, but I often wondered where these people were before he died. He certainly was not supported by the masses. I do miss John
@CubanCheGuevara REALLY?!? You're as sick as he is! The best thing that could happen to these perpetrators is to erase them. The Egyptians had it right. Erase their names from everything. They cease to exist, to influence and to have effect past the immediate. You all merely glorify him by putting his name on a page that will exist for an indeterminate period. Good job. Way to go!
i was expecting in the middle of the song for yoko ono to just bust out with some sort of psuedo artistic " aaaaaAAAAAAAAEEEEEEEEEaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAeeeeeeiiiiiiii"
More life to JOHN! I've really (I mean REALLY) seen it all. And I see this clip,I would love to see it in it's entirety. 30 seconds was better than nothing!
It's a great piece, and Lennon like always seems to have some attitude in his own is so great you post something like this...Don't you have the complete performance?
The hole thing is so good i dont even bother about the sax, Lennon knows about music and if he had it tha way who cares to me everything is perfect.
Lennon's singing 'imagine no possessions' on a telethon begging for money for a worthy cause and you're posting it on Youtube for free trying to sell his charity performance to the highest bidder.

@Zebonka I thought the same thing when George Michael bought Lennon’s Imagine piano for $2.1 million. Hey George do you not understand what the song is about?

Somehow you can almost see why he was chosen to be shot and most people thought Yoko was the next target.

@Backofmyhand - If Mark David Chapman hoped
to make a name for himself (which he said he did)
it makes little sense to shoot Ringo or Davy Jones
of the Monkees. If you want to make a name for
yourself, you kill the president or...John Lennon.
There simply wassn't a bigger celebrity at the time.
It makes a kind of sense...which is why Chapman
isn't really "insane". He should've been executed.
If I could, I would cut Chapman from his groin to
his sternum with a dull deer antler!

@martinone9 - I always grimace when I see a post starting
with "the truth is". Look, I will grant you that Lennon's YOKO
YEARS were, musically...his worst. Not even his hits can
make up for the overall body of work which suffered greatly
by the use of drugs and Yoko's disturbing influence. However,
John's legacy was firmly established LONG BEFORE the
Beatles ever broke up. The years before he died were just
bonus material. At the time, John was the most photographed
man in the world!
