I remember the Shaboo Inn and also the Back Door in Waterford. They would make the crowds go absolutely nuts when they closed with this number. This song is one of the greatest rock 'n roll songs ever, ranking alongside of Johnny B. Goode............
my favorite band, the Marx brothers of rock 'n roll. Tom was a great drummer. on the bright side, Terry is still touring and the new new rhythm and blues quartet is great.
52joan...........You got that right, the Q rule! I've been to see them before in small clubs with 50 or less people, but that never stopped them from putting on one hell of a show!
NRBQ....i saw these guys at clubs all over connecticut back in the day, in the late 70's and early 80's. the best club band for sure. they never failed to put on a great show. terry adams was a show in himself on keyboard......big Al...remember the wildweeds.
@moose1952 hey man, thanks for the reply. yeah, i'm also showing my age,1954. i also saw them at the new haven coliseum opening up for van halen, which really suprised me because they just don't go together. very disappointing. the accoustics were terrible. they are not an arena band. they pretty much got booed off the stage, which really pissed me off. then again, what do van halen fans know about nrbq.. wildweeds were great too. someday morning gonna gonna take you out with me.love that song.
@bornyesterday21 ..................I hear ya brother, 1952 here. No, NRBQ definitely was not an arena band, but one of the best club bands for sure. Remember their only "Hit" (reached # 70 on the charts I think), the song "Get that gasoline" back in 74? I also liked "The music goes round and round" and their rendition of Joe Turner's "Shake, Rattle and Roll." Those were the good old days..........
@rohbear1 - I've got every album ever released by NRBQ plus rare unreleased songs. One of the best bands ever, they never really got the recognition they truly deserve.........and you are so right, what a killer rhythm section! Thanks for the comment.
Great montage for a great song. My favorite 90 second intro of all time. NRBQ is back . The TARRQ will begin (or should I say, continue?} as NRBQ later this year. Their new CD is out today and I'll be at the show tomorrow. Woohoo!
I bought some moonpies yesterday and was telling my daughter there is a song about them and yours is the only one I could find and you just it up!. Love NRBQ!
