  • thank you so much... now i know and can help costumers at the make up counter... AWESOME!

  • THANK YOU KOREN!!!!

love your vids!!! This vid made my day! :) <3

  • Please, please only foil the powders after you tap them onto a surface that will never allow the powders to be returned to the container. Adding water to the powder can be a lovely and well thought out invitation to bacteria, yeast and mold. None of which you want in your eye. I place a tiny bit in a ketchup cup, buy bunches online, or at a local restaurant supply place, cheap. Use a small, disposable spatula, to scrape off a tiny amount, or scoop a tiny amount into the cup. You'll use it all.

  • can you foil with pressed eyeshadows? or do you have to have loose pigments? also what is the differance from wet app foiling and getting product dry on your brush and spraying it with setting spray then applying it? ive seen a lot of ppl do this and i want to know if its a "proper" makeup application or waste of product and time... thanx xox

  • Thumbs up if your here because of "Beauty Addicted Kitty" XDD

  • Beauty Addict Kitty on Tumblr used my submission about this video lol! "Enkore says you've been foiling wrong. Question your life."

  • Your video's are great, I like how you break things down and explain more in details... Thank You!!!!

  • THANK YOU SSSSSSSSOOOOOOO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!I HAVE FOUND A LOT OF YOUTUBE VIDEOS USING THE WET APPLICATION "Foiling" look!I'm SUPER glad to finally learn the difference between the two! Thanks Koren!

  • All right lol ;)

  • This is very helpful! Thank u for such great tips and tricks! :)

  • This is awesome! SO helpful!

  • As a freelance makeup artist, sometimes i find myself in a rut or forgetting different techniques from lack of use. I find your demeanor inviting and your teaching technique solid. Such a breath of fresh air!

  • So it's similar to the techniques in ceramics for dry brushing (only of course, the brush is damp). More back to basics, please!

  • I am your newest fan and I just want to say your tutorials are wonderfully helpful and you have such lovely positive energy. God bless. xx

  • that hair over ur eye was really bothering me... thanks koren! again, for another insightful video :)

  • Love your videos your awesome!

  • Thanks for clarifying. Makes much more sense to me now.

  • Thanks so much for this video. I know what foiling is in crafts, but was confused that all the "foiling" videos just showing wet application... Now I finally know what foiling is. Thank You!

  • This was very informative. I had been led to believe that a wet application of a shimmer or metallic was "foiling" and referred to it as such for years. I am happy to now be educated in the correct terminology and technique. Which I am going to try, today, by the way. :D Thank you. :)

  • oh god, i´ve really become a makeup junkie, I don´t even find this weird, I just look at it with interest and think to myself how gorgeous the wet application looks...

  • Hi Koren! I'm a fan and i would just want to thank you for all the wisdom you are sharing to us. You are a good person and i hope i can meet you in person someday.

  • Thanks for being back, Koren!

  • Hey Koren :) I hadn't checked out your videos in awhile - you look like you've regained so much health! You look WONDERFUL. This was great to see :)

  • wow ! very useful information !! Thank you Koren, you are THE best...

  • The best analogy I ever heard is foiling=highlighting whereas wet apply=dyeing hair. Highlighting your brown hair with honey gold highlights is not the same as dyeing your brown hair honey gold. One achieves a softer look, whereas the other is dramatic. The method is the same premise, but the result is TOTALLY different.

  • I'm so confuse. I don't get it cause ur still using ur wet brush.

  • OK, now that finally makes sense :-)) Thanks !!! x

  • are you a filipino?

  • @LURVExL , i want to know also If Koren is a Filipino because the of the way his Mom

pronounced the word Lipstick, she said "LIPISTICK".

  • i learned something today! thanks. ;)

  • gorgeous work&gorgeous man!

  • so either way its still the same thing because youre still using "wet aplication" for both

  • @ZoilaSolis there is no base on the incorrectly-referred to application.

  • Thanks for thowing us vids, again. Have been missing your knowledge a lot! Keeeeep 'em comin'!!! ;)

  • though have never heard of the term FOILING, find this vid VERY helpful, thanx sooo much! since I use mineral makeups a lot, i sooo will try foiling method from now on:)

  • Thank u for this video!

  • Wow, I always thought foiling was something different than wet application, but everyone always referred to wet app. as foiling. Thanks so much for this video. I'm gonna try actual foiling.

Question would an e/s-sized stippling brush (like the 187) by better than 'peaking' the tips of the 217? MAC s/b coming out w/ a full-sized 286 (or is 282) e/s stippling brush soon, but don't know if the fibers will be firm enough to foil with. TIA!

  • Thank you for the video. I've never heard of that technique.

  • Hi Enkore need help i want to learn how to do semi permanent eye lash can u guide me where i should i go to get training plzzzz Thanks

  • move that pesky piece of hair!!! lol thanks for the demo tho! ^_^

  • Thanks so much for that!!!

  • What's your nationality? :)

  • I love ur intro. Lol

  • I also am wondering the same thing I'm 49 and I noticed that my eyelids are starting to droop, and when I add color to my crease it dissapears , please make a video for mature eyes:)

  • this is so VERY very helpful. thank you!

  • Yes, I do see a difference and it really makes sense when you said its like foiling an art project!....that really helped...THX♥

  • Thank you for showing us of things you know :)

  • So does the stippling give it a "softer effect" as apposed to the sweeping motion? It's kind of hard to tell on camera. :)

  • Respected

I m one eye half blind n also have essential tremer can u show tutorial for some1 like for winged eye liner would b realy appriciated easy way oh also i do wear glasses too i would really appriciate if some1 OR U HAVE EASY suggestion.

  • OMG, my very first thought was, "no hat!" :-)

  • very pretty and informative! :)

  • I love your videos!!! I learn so much! When I was just learning about makeup I learned a lot from you! Lol I love your intro when your mom says "Ay Koren stop using my lipstick!" :P

  • Did you put the green base color on dry?

  • Great info... Thanks!!!

  • So...it has the same end result?...

  • Is it possible to do both foiling and applying an eyeshadow wet with a pressed shimmery shadow? Or does it have to be a loose pigment? Btw thanks for clearing it up ;D

  • Very informative!

    Thank You

  • Very informative! I've never seen a tutorial where someone explains the two. I've always thought it was the same thing.

  • Ok so foiling is like a raised application right?

  • i miss seeing your videos

  • The difference is instead of just applying a wet pigment on your eyelid, your applying a base color (dry or wet) and putting a DIFFERENT shimmery color on top. (with a wet application). your basically layering two different colors.

  • @imaniannsnelling thank you! finally there are people who understands. sigh.

  • Thanks I didn't know that, you always have great tips and knowledgeable. XOXO

  • you are too good...thank you for taking time and educating people in makeup

  • I know there is a difference, I just can't really see one here, perhaps in person it would be more obvious? What confuses me is the term emulsify...emulsifying refers to 2 liquids, he's using a powder and a liquid here.

  • Thanks for being a great teacher! I <3 learning the correct way of doing things

  • omg people its not the same thing. lol.

  • so basically foiling involves 2 shades.? because if i wet a pressed powder it gets a nasty film over it. =[ ick.

  • So, that's how you get that look; very cool. Thanks for the tips!

  • I have learned so much watching your videos. Thank you for taking the time to explain the "hows" and "whys" of makeup application. It does make a difference.

May I make a request? As someone who is quickly approaching 40, I would like more tutorials on how to do eye makeup for mature eyes without looking like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show. So many of the beautiful ladies (and gents) on YT are younger than I and I just want some basics. For example: winged liner on someone with "crows feet"

  • Thank you so much.... I am a newly trained makeup artist, so little tips and info like these are very helpful to me....

  • Thank u

  • Should I use different colors? Like, for the base color and the foiling color?

  • its the same thing..just saying

  • ooooooh, I see. Thank you. That was great help.

... and please don't change your intro. Being yourself is what makes us like you so much. :)

  • I think you should really change the music in ur intro... it's really stupid even though ur information is good

  • Omg were did u get that pallet?

  • @eclass83 its Inglot's Rainbow Shadows.

  • Good to see your videos again. You're a great teacher!

  • So glad you're back!! Missed your techniques and explanations. Thank you!!

  • ty!

  • Thanks Koren!

  • Love this video. Needed to know!

  • Yes Koren, thanks for showing us the right way....if we don't do it the right way, why do it at all???? You're soo cool! :)

  • Thanks for clarifying Koren. someone taught me wrong so I was calling wet application foiling. This whole time I was wrong.

  • Ahhhhhh, thanks for showing us the right way!!! Education is golden.

  • Viewers of YT don't seriously pay attention to the kids with a ton of makeup and no knowledge, do they?

I trust your opinions and value the knowledge you share Koren, thank you!

  • Thanks so much I was searching this the other day!

  • ahhhhh....big difference! Thanks, Korren! ♥~Tonya

  • Thank you for the informative videos. I have learned a lot about makeup application from you.

  • Thanks so much for this information.

  • You're wonderful. Thanks!

  • this is gorgeous many thanks... the finish is so much better with real foiling technique.... many thanks

  • so i have this eyeshadow and its like a dual finish it looks brown but shines a teal color but i find when i apply it you cant tell it has a teal shean which sux cuz thats the beauty of it anyways i tried applying it wet which did work but it ended up coming out patchy idk wat im doing wrong, oh its a mineral loose shadow idk if that makes a difference help?

  • @drodriguez00 First apply a creamy black product such as MAC Paint Stick in Black, but dont put too much or it'll crease. Then apply your duo chrome eyeshadow or pigment over it while the black is still moist. where you apply the black creamy product, it will look most teal, where you have left the skin rather dry, it will look brown. Afterwards you can also put some black eyeshadow in the crease where you faded out the black cream product if you dont want as much brown there.

  • I see the difference now, lol hate foiling but love wet application. So glad your back. I don't know if you have a video on this but can you do one or updated one on applying liquid eyeliner.

  • i honestly don't see any difference :s

  • @lolaeddaloo3a think of this way - one is painting a surface gold. the other is adding gold foil over a color or finish... hence, foiling... thats the difference.

  • @EnKoreMakeup oh ok.. so that's y u used the teal eyeshadow..

    thanx 4 clearing that up..

    ur the best!! :)

  • I love your videos they are so educational ! Your tour link doesn't work :(

  • Glad to have you back! I didn't know I was doing it the wrong way :/ Thanks for uploading those back2basics videos :)

  • This was very, very helpful! Thank you

  • I haven't even heard this term b4 but I'm glad you introduced me to it the right way. THANK YOU so much Koren :D

  • This is such an informative video! Now I understand how to foil the shadows properly, thanks for this! :)

  • i love your tutorials

  • I GET IT! I think ^^

  • You are sweet and smart. Love ya.

  • i have never even heard of foiling :) thy for explaining though!

  • omg koren,i tried this technique n its worls like a miracle.gve a fabulous finish as though ive covered eyes in a thin gold foil.its a fabulous technique n it works

  • I'm really glad Back2Basics is back! Even though I wouldn't use this method myself, it's still really interesting.

  • Thanks Koren For the information I love the BTB videos please make more informative vids like this XO

  • It's all the same to me, honestly.

  • Are you foiling with the same teal color you used as the base or the previous pigment color???

  • Wow there is a difference between both! And most gurus on YT have it wrong, Tnx for pues video! Its really helpful/informational

  • Evidently I've been doing "Foiling" when I thought I was doing wet application. Who knew! And I'm a crafter. That makes me weird.

  • yep- youre good!!

  • good to know thanks Koren! it is very much appreciated

  • "Poil".. lol.. Spoken like a true Filipino.

  • Thanks for sharing Kore! missed your vids! glad you're back :)

  • thank you so much for your videos. i am glad your making videos again

  • can i use a regular pressed eyeshandow instead of a pigment?

  • this was so helpful :)

  • Now that's a makeup guru!! I'm learning so much! :D

  • I've been doing it right! Yay!

I did this (with gold over chocolate brown) on my sister when she was an Indian for Halloween :D

  • Koren is awesome! Thank you for this vid. I had no idea what foiling was. Lol

  • thanks koren

  • who has this level of conceptual crystal clarity regarding make up techniques.hez soo skilled ,so sorted n is so generous with sharing his knowledge.hez a blessing to the make up world.

  • Nice tutorial! Thanks!

  • awesome video K! who doesn't see the difference between the methods are clearly not doing this for a living or not passionate enough about makeup... your explanations are enlightening and so simple to understand! now I know exactely when to use which term and will sure try on myself and on my clients the dotting foiling! thanks a lot for sharing! <3

  • I don't understand why some are getting so butthurt. He's the real deal, why not listen to what a professional has to say?

  • It is so refreshing to learn something new even after watching hundreds of beauty videos. I would never have thought of doing this myself, so thank you very much! This makes it possible to get so much more use out of my old, slightly boring matte eyeshadows.

  • im not sure if its just me or not. but i really cant tell the difference.. maybe because of the teal on "foiling". my point is, if someone said they "foiled" their makeup and did it the wrong way, according to you, how can you tell by the look of the makeup? just curious...

  • @xxurplaymatexx you can tell by the finish. Must like craft, something painted gold looks different than something gold Foiled or gold Leafed.

  • @EnKoreMakeup you are so right. thank you so much for this video - I love your stuff!

    XOXO

  • @EnKoreMakeup thanks, i think it would've help us even more if you had like close up photos telling the differences. :)

  • @xxurplaymatexx From what I can see in the video, wet eyeshadow application looks like a finishing look to one single eyeshadow, whereas foiling involves a finish as well as the interaction between the base color and the color you foil on top. Personally to me it means a new way to "blend, blend, blend" since foiling looks like a great method to transition colors... :)

  • @xxurplaymatexx Haven't heard of this because I'm not professional but I can tell the difference. Korean if very educational and I thank him for showing us the correct method. But if you want it simple, go ahead and do the wet method application.

  • Yay finally done right.

  • Thank you

  • Thank u! : D

  • I  Koren 

  • Thanks!! Love your videos!!

  • do you have to use pigments to foil?can i use regular eyeshadow.
