I thought the same with the iPod touch. I saw how thin it was and how intuitive it was that I thought it was from the future, that somehow, someway, Apple was getting technology from the future and making a profit off of it in the present.
"When you think about it, most natural way to get your thoughts down, is to jot or sketch" This is gold.... This is precisely why I like the newton and the stylus, not my finger, I want to be able to write things.. not smear a screen with digital paint on it... We need the stylus back... and it is not to sound Old... it is the truth... We now went to the stone age.. using our fingers to paint on an iPad, instead of using a recent invention... the pencil... and appreciate the calligraphy...
Wow. I mean, this looks normal today- people looking at a little rectangle and using a stylus or now, their finger to use, but back in 1993? That must've looked awfully futuristic!
I still think Marty McFly brought back some PDA from "antique" store in 2015 and brought it back to Apple who then reverse engineered it. :-P
i had an emate300. loooooooved it. it's gone know but i am still pissed and jobs for killing it off. great machine. i wrote hundreds of poems and stories on their. it went with me to school, work, i even used it to teach the kids math by drawing stuff and having them cross it off to delete and seeing how many is left. they loved it too.

Ahead of it's time but at the same time, too limited by 1993 existing technology.

If only they had called it something more catchy, maybe something with a lower-case vowel in front of it. iNewton?

This had expandability, iPhone doesn't
This had handwriting recognition, iPhone doesn't
This had wireless file transfer, iPhone doesn't
There was a reason why in the Newton vs iPhone article on CNET Newton won.

If this had caught on, we could be so much farther in technology than we are today. But people do not accept things ahead of their time.

wat years was the newton used in?
starkid423 3 years ago
The eMate was used in 1997, though later 90`s to be exact, it was a revolutionary machine for education.
EuroCarfan00 3 years ago
I love my Newton. I have a MessagePad 110, 210, and I am getting a eMate.
