  • o ok its because i recently got the lap band and want to loose as much as i can fast!!! :)

  • doesn't really work that way. The way the band works is that it helps your metabolism speed up because you're eating less and slower. Then you start losing weight naturally. It's not a quick fix. It takes time. And there are cheats that will keep you from losing weight (like eating a bowl of ice cream every night before dinner...it's easy to eat, but very unhealthy. It's supposed to help you change your lifestyle so that you gradually lose weight (which keeps from having excess skin)

    Amelia

  • were you doing any exercising during the process?

  • at the time, no

  • im like 5 foot only and 178 pounds i want to do this but do u remove it once u reach ur goal weight or is it there throughout life

my other question after having liquids and eating mushy food did u eat normally but lightly

  • It is really up to you if you want to remove it or not. I still have mine in and it has been over 4 years. They are completely removable and adjustable. It is whatever is right for your body. Since I did it four years ago I have lost 86% of my body fat. I even look amazing in my wedding dress and got a whole dress size taken in!

I can eat normally...just slower and smaller bites

  • ABOUT HOW MUCH IS THE COST?

  • depends on your insurance really

  • awesome.

  • I'm thinking about getting this, I'm only 17...Will you lose weight in the breast area too? I'm not super overweight, but I'm kinda overweight

  • They will only do it if you are either considered morbidly obese or if you have enough famiy health risks to make it a viable option. But yes, I did lose weight in my breasts.

  • @AmeliaRH I have reconsidered because i am not comfortable with it. I am glad you are doing well with it though. ^^

  • It should definitely not be the first choice. Especially when your body is still developing. I did it when I was 22 and I still probably could have waited a year but I was further to a plateau in my growing.

  • this is the song from EDWARD SCISSORHANDS!!! :D

  • This video is amazing!!!! Love it! The way it started to finish...Congrats Amelia!!!!!!

  • Pretty girl to start with. Congrats! I'm looking to do it myself. What was the overall cost?

  • How was the cost?

  • wow...you're an inspiration, and you actually gave me even more of a reason to do this. You look absolutely fantastic! ^_^

  • You look great! I just got on insurance that will cover this so I'm taking in everything I can on my journey! I've done the research, gone to the seminars, now that I finally have the insurance, I hope I go quickly along from here! :-D Keep up the great work!

  • Hi I wanted to thank you for putting this up, am having my surgery on the 13th Jan and was getting really scared and thinking of not going ahead with it but after watching this it's spurring me on to have it.....thank thank thank thank and a thousand times thanks....u look AMAZING!!! xxx

  • You are a brave and beatiful girl!!!!

  • u look nice did the lap band hurt at all

  • thanks. not really...sometimes I get some tenderness if I eat too much

  • this song is from edward scissorhands isnt it? :)

  • yes it is

  • Nice pic's I've gone to the informational session, I have an apointment this Friday I'm so excited. I hope to look as good as you do.

  • diggin the edward scissor hands music!

  • Wow! You look fabulous & did a great job with your video! My surgery is in a month & I hope & pray I do as well as you! CONGRATULATIONS!!

  • You look fantastic. I can't wait for my surgery. I have my consult with the surgeons this week.

  • Good luck!

  • are you going to need any skin surgery or breast lifts? Some need a lift after major losses. Supposdly the insurance pays for that as well a couple months after you have met your goal weight. Congratualtions on your loss. The back pain must be strong though i have big boobs as well but you have got some awesome knockers that many pay to have that big. I know that because they are real and not silicone they have to be heavy to carry mine are and I am a 38DDD.lol. Own that sexy physique girl!

  • No surgery for excess skin...I don't have any excess skin from it. Thanks for the compliment...I've actually surpassed my goal weight...I'm lower than my doctors and I thought I would be...two and a half years out.

  • Wow congrats you look wonderful! My friend and i start our process monday i cant wait..very nervous!

  • Good luck!

  • Congrats to you! If I am lucky I will get mine done in a few months once the approval goes through. If I may be blunt, you have to be the first girl I've seen, post-op, to NOT loose any breast!! O.O

  • Thanks. Good luck to you with yours. Actually, I have lost in my chest as well. Proportionally it's the same though, but what you can't tell from the pics I've gone down a minimum of two full cup sizes and smaller number around too.

  • anytime

  • It's definitely not something you should just walk into. Make sure you get all the facts you need before you make your decision! :) Good luck to you. Thanks for the compliment! :)

  • I was a bit scared...but honestly I'm more satisfied with the positive outcomes then anything else though. The only advice I think would be really beneficial is that you should make sure you listen to your body...it'll tell u if you are eating too much or not enough and when you are hungry...etc. :)

  • Congrats. I had mine done three days ago. In a lot of pain but just keep on thinking of the end result. You look great!!

  • Thanks! I wish you the best of luck...the recovery time isn't too long, so hang in there! :)

  • I've watched this a lot in the past two months in the lead-up to my surgery (which happened this past Monday). Congratulations on your progress, and thanks for being an inspiration. :)

  • I'm glad I could be an inspiration to people. :) Good luck with yours! It'll go great!

  • Comment removed

  • good luck with it :)

  • i got one about two months ago i'm still having to actively control myself otherwise i think i tend to cheat it. might be bored, losing bout 3/4 of a kilo a week with no exercise

  • Good luck with yours...it'll get really easy. I lost a lot initially without exercise :)

  • I got my lapband yesterday....it feels like I have slight indigestion...but I'm so fucken determined to lose weight!!! My sister had it done on Oct 8th 2008 and to date, she has lost almost 80 pounds...has never vomitted...she also completely omits most carbs from her diet...she follows the doctor's instruction to the most minor detail...and she hasnt even started execizing yet...I'm looking forward to meeting the new me! By the way, u look fantastic!!!!

  • congrats and good luck to ya!

  • How old must u be to get it??cause "my friend" is like overweight for "her" age "shes" only 15 and weighs a large amount but "shes" not in her 200'z yet "shes" lk 176 "she" has a hard time dieting "shes" tried many of diets . do u think "she" shud consider it if "shes" old enough because i care about "her" health

  • That's really a personal decision she'd have to make with her family and doctor's. My personal opinion is that is too young, but it is done that young. She'd need to really talk with her family and DEFINITELY her doctor to make an educated decision on that.

  • Great job! I am sure that you are slimmer now. How do you feel? I am wanting to have this done, but I am scared of pain. Are you in a lot of pain and discomfort? Do you and can you have plastic surgery for some parts that don't shrink?

    Thanks,

  • I've done really well...Honestly there is not much loose leftover skin like on the bypass. I have not had to have any plastic surgery to help anything like that. I'm basically half the size I was all around. Not too much pain unless you eat too fast. But that is mild discomfort at best

  • THank you So Much i live in tx also im looking for the right person to do this ...

im 18 and struggleing with weight ...

Seeing this change in your pictures and life made me wanna cry because you can see it in your eyes you are soo happy!!!

congrads Girly on the new look!!

  • Thank you very much. I am happy now, but, to be honest...I'm not happy because I'm thinner...I'm happy because I have more energy and feel better and am now NOT at risk for a heart attack anymore!

  • Congrats Amelia,

you look great, I'm hoping i can get mine next spring. i see your boobs didn't shrink to much, i hope mine do!

  • Honestly they really did. I've gone down about two D's...I was four...now only double...and the number got lower too...hehe. Thanks for your

  • Thanks for your comment!

  • Hi there Amelia! I'm Renee and i'm in the process of trying to get the lap band. It is very encouraging to see a video like yours. such an amazing change. I hope that you are preparing another to put out November of this year to see your current progress! :O)

  • Yeah I keep meaning to add a new one but keep putting it off...maybe this week I'll get to it since my two year band anniversary was on the second

  • I hope the process goes as well for you as it did for me. Hopefully I can make my new video soon :)

  • I was banded 2days ago, and much like Cathleen I am wandering if I done the right thing... THANK YOU for encouraging me!

    Congratulations!

  • It is really a personal decision, but I wish you the best of luck and hope you have the same progress I was lucky enough to have!

  • A 2XL before surgery you lucky bugger, I'm a 5XL, 60KGS of extra fat and I was told I was not suitable for lap banding. Owen Australia

  • I'm sorry that you are not having as good of an experience as I was able to have. I have a close friend who really wants it too but her health insurance won't cover it :(

  • Amelia, How much can you eat now that you've had it done? How often do you have to eat each day? MY BIGGEST QUESTION!:!!!:!::::: Are you HUNGRY all the time???? I have a huge problem with being hungry, I don't think it is normal. I am on a med to control my hunger, but I am tired of being on this med. Are you constantly and uncontrollably hungry after this surgery? If it does help you feel full then that would be a wonderful blessing! Please let me know. Does anyone know the cost?

  • I do get full now...the band helps you to get full faster because it forces you to eat slower so your body understands WHEN you get full. Don't worry...you'd think that it'll be hard but it isn't too bad actually :)

  • looking good... keep it up!

  • Thanks!

  • Hello and Gratz on the work and progress u have made!!! just doing some lookin on youtube at people's results, im goin in for my surgery on sept 22 this year! been fighting to get it since Feb,, finally gonna happen i hope it does as well for me as it did u!

  • I hope so too. Good luck! I know it went well for me, I hope it has been good for you.

  • Yes, with RNY and permanent procedures most excess weight seems to drop off in 8-9 months. It is slower with lap band but then you have a lower risk of excess skin and health complications such as a fatty liver. The lap band has longer term issues like slippage and having to be replaced. I intend on getting pregnant one of these days the lap band is a safer, easier option. You also don't have malabsorption isses for the rest of your life. Great song choice Amelia!!

  • Yeah I wanted to make sure I could still have kids in my future...that was a BIG reason I chose to have the lap band done. :)

  • Hi Amelia, I am Cathleen. I just had the lapband surgery on the 7th of august. I am also in Texas. Killeen to be exact. I am more hopeful now that I have watched your vid. Today, 2 days after the surgery, i am wondering if i did the right thing. I am glad a found your vid.

    Thanks so much for sharing

  • I'm so glad it helped! I remember those first few days where I was questioning if I did the right thing. It is a tough decision, but was definitely life changing for me and I hope it helps you as it did me. :)

    Good luck!

  • Wow u really just enouraged me and I thank u so much.

  • aw thanks!

  • I had this done a while back. since I had lost enough weight I was able to do a "day surgery" I have had little to no problems, mainly heart-burn when I eat too much chilli :) but the most "uncomfortable" thing I can remember from the surgery was really having to go to the Rest Room and being to scared to because there was all these wires attached to me. I had to get the DR's ok to walk down the hall and go pee pee. *blush*

  • Hmm I didn't have to go when i was attached to the IV...i just remember being very drowsy when i left the surgery center

  • thats good, and when I went to the seminar, they said it would take 5 years for the results to be complete. It works slower then gastric bypass, but much saffer

  • five years?! Wow...it only took a year for me to get results...I felt it works faster AND better than the gastric :)

  • Can I ask what was your motivation? Were you scared? Are there many stmach scares? Can you have the band removed eventually? Was there any negative side effects? I really want to do this but am scared to death that I will over eat and hurt myself. I am 31, 245 lbs, size 24, diabetic and have arthritis. This video has changed my life...hopefully. Please respond soon. Thanks. Jen from Wisconsin

  • My motivation was to mainly get healthier...I was at a high risk for a heart attack at a young age, pre-diabetic for Type 2 diabetes, had serious back/neck/shoulder pains from the size of my chest, had major pain in my feet since they couldn't hold up my body well. I was scared, but the benefits outweighed the risks in my mind. I have three little scars on my stomach. Occasssionally it hurts to eat when I eat fast, but you learn fast what you can handle and it has been mostly great! Good luck!

  • Also..you can have the band removed...you can also adjust how much salene gets put into it :)

  • I love this video. I am thinking about getting the procedure too but the one thing I was worried about was losing my boobs! I don't want to be flat chested. But after your video, I am inspired. lol. Aren't you so glad you kept your boobs?! Thank you so much.

  • Heh they went down in size a bit, but yeah I still have em...they are just a better porportion to my body now...and don't cause me as much back pains :) I'm glad this was a helpful video to you!

  • hi just had my lab band serguery two weeks back.... u look really sexy and 36 DDD man that is hot...but i have a qustion how would i get rid off the extra skin that i will have after loosing all the wieght???

  • heh thanks...good luck with yours. I didn't really have much extra skin, but toning by working out is usually a good way to lose that. :)

  • Congrats on the weight loss. I am getting my surgery next month and am also size 26. Nice to see the results I should be able to achieve! You're an inspiration! =)

  • Thanks...good luck with yours...hope it goes well!

  • Gppd job with the weight loss - keep up the good work

  • Thanks

  • Did you have saggy skin after you lost the weight???

  • I don't...my stepmom did the same procedure and has a bit but they basically told me the older you are the more toning you'll have to do to get your skin to firm back up since the elaticity of skin isn't as great when you get older...but there is not much loose skin no matter who you are as far as I've seen

  • O, i was accually thinking about this surjury, but i wanted to find that out because i heard it somewhere and i couldnt find anymore info on it, thanks :]!

  • Glad that helped :)

  • I'm glad to have found this video. I will be having mine done soon and really need to see how others have done.

    You look great!

  • Thanks...I'm glad this has helped you.

    Good luck with yours. :)

  • Amelia - you look great! Have you had an slippage problems? Or refills? My dad is getting this surgey soon. If you had anything bad to say about it, what would it be? THANKS!

  • I haven't had any slippage with mine...i've had a few difficulties when i've eaten too fast a few times, or too much...but no major messups to cause any slips :)

    good luck to him! :)

  • DO YOU HAVE ANY LOOSE SKIN

  • I don't...my stepmom did the same procedure and has a bit but they basically told me the older you are the more toning you'll have to do to get your skin to firm back up since the elaticity of skin isn't as great when you get older...but there is not much loose skin no matter who you are as far as I've seen

  • I am seriously considering doing this myself. I would have to say that your video is one of the best, and most encouraging that I have seen yet! I can see the happy all over your face. I know you are so glad, and beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

  • I am definitely excited about my new found energy that the lack of weight has given me! I'm glad I was able to make an encouraging video. Good luck to you if you decide to do it! :)

  • Hi!! Where u at now if u don't mind. I would like to get a lapband myself. Awesome job and good luck!!

  • Still losin more! It isn't going as fast now cause I have started to plateau, but it is still slowly coming off! :) Good luck to ya!

  • have you ever had any food get stuck for not chewing good enough???

  • Yeah I've had that happen a few times where I had to cough it back up. But nothing has been too bad so far. The benefits have outweighed the negative in this case. Plus, I learn from my mistakes...if it takes me so many chews before I can swallow something, and I rush, I learn not to rush very fast and I don't usually feel icky towards the same food twice.

  • Congratulations! Keep up the good work. Have you lost more since you posted this? Not that you need to, just curious I guess.

  • Yup I have! :) Thanks for the comment :)

  • This is a great video! What is the song playing in the first half?

  • Thanks! It is a song from Edward Scissorhands...I think it is called Ice Scene or something like that...

  • well done.

you should be very proud of yourself.

i am having a band in 3 weeks i hope my results are just as good as yours.

  • Thanks! Good luck on yours :) I'm sure it'll go well! :)

  • Thanks for all your post! You have inspired me to start my own video journal.

  • I'm so glad I could be a good inspiration for others :)

  • wow you look so great!!!!!!!1

  • Thanks!

  • you are an inspiration...My name is rob and I am 50 days post op Lapband...I am down 45 pounds so far through dieting and walking 3 to 5 miles a night...so far the lap band has done nothing for me...I got my first fill two weeks ago and it did nothing...next one is tomorow....I am hoping this does the trick cause I am freaking tired of being hungry all the time...You have done so well and your videos are awesome...thanks for shareing...

  • Aw thank you! You will get there, don't worry! I honestly still don't even see the difference in myself, but everyone around me says they can tell. I see it in pictures now though. I think most of mine started coming off after my second fill. :) Good luck to you!

  • Well done!! you look like a different person. Did you get any food stuck or did you have any problems with the band moving?

  • Thanks! I have had a few things not go down right due to me eating them too fast, but for the most part I have done very well. I have learned how slow I need to eat and how small of bites and have been doing well. :)

  • Seeing this has made me so excited to get my lap band! I get it in a few weeks, and I am so motivated by seeing your progress! I cant believe you are in a 12! I haven't worn a size 12 since I was 16! I wear a 20-22 now, but I still like to think I am in an 18, even though I cant button them. I cant wait to see results!

  • Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Good luck with yours :)

  • HOW MUCH DID IT COST???

  • well my insurance paid for most of it so for me it was 2,000 out of pocket...I think and can get pretty high up there without insurance though

  • can you give us any pointers on how you got your insurance to pay for most of it?

  • I dunno...my insurance said they would cover all but 2,000 dollars of it because of health risks

  • Mine was not covered by insurance. It cost $16,500. That includes 2 years of follow-up and adjustments. I would imagine you can get it done for cheaper. I went through True Results. It may be cheaper to go directly through the doctor, as I am sure True Results gets their cut... I was just focused on getting it done, and checking into the doctor. No regrets at this time, and almost one week post surgery. =:0)

  • I'm sorry it cost so much for you...I went through True Results, but I got very lucky my insurance covered it. Now I have no insurance since I just graduated college in May and am trying to find a new one that will cover my fills...

  • Thanks for the video!! You look great!! I am excited to start seeing results. I was just banded last week, and on the liquid diet. Did you have a lot of gas pain? If so, how long did it last?

  • Thanks! Good luck with yours...you'll do great! :) The pains were mostly in my shoulders...where gas builds up and sits in your body unless you get up and move around...it goes away so long as you walk every hour or so

  • wow u look good!! i cant wait 2 have my surgery!! :D

  • hi. you have done great. i have recently found out i am having my lap band op on the 28th. you can view my video at lapbandmichael leave comments if you like.thanks

  • kewl! good luck!

  • You look so HOT! I am drooling. You're a abosute knockout stone fox! You were so attractive even before this procedure, but now you look like the type to stop traffic everywhere you go.

  • heh thanks!

  • i was gonna get gastric at 48 after losing and regaining over 200 pounds but i was told of the horrendous irreversible side effects and am now going for the lap band. thank you for sharing.

  • no problem! :)

  • WOW YOU LOOK GREAT! I'm on my journey to be banded and your video is so inspiring. Thank You for posting it and WAY TO GO GIRL!!!!

  • aww thanks! Good luck with yours too!

  • Hi Amelia, great job. I'm getting my lapband soon. I was just wondering, how many days did you work out. I'm a full time student plus job, i can't take time out for work out.

  • nothing more thand my usual day...i don't really have any time to either...i'm trying to make some

  • Hi Amelia, great job. I'm getting my lapband soon. I was just wondering, how many days did you work out. I'm full time student plus job, i can't take time out for work out.

  • heh actually i didn't really work out any...

  • Great job, love the video (and music choices!)

  • Thanks! :)

  • You look amazing!!Well done :-)

  • aww thanks!

  • Congratulations. You look fantastic. I have my 2nd App with my surgeon on Thursday and then we decide the day for it. I live in a small town and the doctor has to come to me and he is only here every 4 months so it is hard to get in to see him but it is happening finally so i am glad. You look fantastic, and healthy. Congratulations...Best of luck for the fucture..

  • Thanks! :) Well good luck to you with it all! :)

  • Hey Amelia, Im getting my lapband in a months time! I can't wait!! You look fantastic and so happy!!

I hope all the best for you in the future!

How did the whole strict eating before the surgery??

  • good luck to you on it! :) it didn't go too poorly...pretty easy i'd say...and i did it during my bithday too so wasn't too bad

  • Thats awsome!!!

  • Wow...you did absolutely amazing! I was banded on May 31, 2007 and I'm down 55 lbs so far. It's really an AMAZING life change. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

I wish you luck in your future. Excellent job =]

  • thanks! Good luck to you too :)

  • WoW what a great video :) I was just banded on 12/11/07. How long did it take for you to start dropping the weight? I am losing but it is taking me a while to notice it lol. Thanks for posting this. I cannot wait :) - Melissa :)

  • thanks! Good luck with yours too! Honestly the only way I notice the difference in myself is by looking at pics. But it is pretty gradual until about the second or so months. You'll see it more in your pics than in your mirror...least that is how it is for me. :)

  • WOW! You go girl!!!

I'm currently considering the lap band. I'm scared though. I have been heavy all my life. I'm well preportioned.. but still heavy. I'm at 283 right now! YIKES! But i'm currently taking thyroid meds and stuff to see if that is what's making me stay so big. We are going to give it about 3 more months then its on to the band! :-D

  • good luck with all of that! :)

  • You rock! I have a lap band too. ;-D

  • awesome! :)

  • Good for you ! You are inspiring others.

  • thanks!

  • WOW WOW WOW! You rock girl!

  • Thanks :)

  • Awesome! You look so great! I added you, fellow bandster! And I salute you!

  • aw thank you! I love being banded! Hehe :)

  • Thanks! The hardest part is pushing myself to make all the required doctor's appts. and getting everything ready to submit to my insurance. I am a big procrastinator and I just want it done already!

  • yeah it can be a long process in the beginning...:) you'll get through it. :)

  • oh yeah...me too...hehe...but once it is said and done, it's great :)

  • Way to Go! I am hoping to have my lapband surgery before the end of the year. Cant wait to start losing like that :) You give me hope. Keep up the great work...Have a blessed day - Melissa :)

  • I'm glad I have given others hope! :) Good luck with it!

  • Congratulations! That's wonderful news... You look wonderful. I'm just starting the lap band process...Very encouraging...
