@RomanceofKingdoms The lyrics I sing are those written by Cliff Hanley the journalist who wrote them around 1950 for the singer Robert Wilson in an arrangement by Marion McClurg. These are to my knowledge the first written lyrics for the song. The tune itself has been around for about a hundred years.

Wow. I didn't even know that song even had lyrics since anytime I'd heard it it was always performed on bagpipes. It's been one of my favorite songs for years though, and I'm actually attempting to learn it as part of a course that teaches the basics of the tin whistle.
