An absolute cracker of a song on a great album, they were stopped from charming the biggest record buying market for some reason unknown. A real shame as they had it all and offered a different view of old Blighty. Another great British band, shame we don't really have any more to offer theworld (bar a few maybe).
The story is that Ray Davies had an argument with a musicians union representative in the States, and actually hit him!! That's why they were banned.
@wenahaone thats intersting, is it because they played lots of brittish wave rock, or because the lyrics match up with the working class-stooge attitude going on in Montana?
@solerso68 thats [sic] intersting [sic], about your comment concerning brittish [sic] rock and rock and roll. I highly suggest you un-fuck your grammar and spelling before you start mocking other people, stooge.
What a perfectly amazing tune...THIS is how it's done folks...

You're such a creep. I wish the Youtube police would escort you back to whichever sewer you came from.

the vague charge of "unprofessional behavior". bottom line, they were sick of touring and skipped several dates, hence the ban.

Very interesting. Well, they were kids, no manager to keep them in line and I know how I was when I was that age. But I've never heard that before

if they hadnt been banned from touring USA from 1965-69 these songs would have gotten the attention and praise that they deserved. thx for posting.

What did they get banned from touring USA for?
