Don't understand why people make films about subjects or characters they have no fundamental understanding of. This film was tripe and every scene an embarassment to anyone familiar with the real thing. If it was made today I could understand it being the clueless load of shit it was but this was made a mere ten years after the event. The Johnny Rotten portrayal was the worst piece of casting in film history. An unforgivable disgrace.

Although I haven't seen this movie yet (and I'm going to soon enough sometime soon), based on the trailer I think the movie was more based on Sid, than the rest of the Pistols. I do like Sid, and he did put a lot of retrospect on the punk movement and on the Sex Pistols themselves getting them where they are now (which really isn't anywhere, but it did get them more media and social attention), but I think they should've put the Pistols in better viewing. It would have been more authentic.

One of the worst rock movies in existence. Even the (usually quite marvellous) Gary Oldman couldn't save this stinker - most of the time he sounds like Danny from 'Withnail & I'. Unbelievably miscast too - Andrew Schofield's Lydon is a knees-up apples 'n' pears Cockerrnee joke.

I've watched it a few times out of sheer perversity actually, and I always wonder what Paul Cook must have thought when he first saw the movie and realized that the character Perry Benson was playing was... him!

I was going to say the same thing as the above high rated comment, I think a young Courtney Love would've been better as the lead instead of the bit part she played.She wanted to play Nancy. As far as facial resemblance, when Courtney was young she looked like Nancy, way more so than Chloe Webb did.It might've been a height thing with the director as Courtney is 5'10" and Nancy was around 5'1" and Gary Oldman who played Sid was 5'9" and the real Sid was 6'2".
