Gone (live from Popmart Las Vegas)

Edge has his in-ears out and isn't singing his parts in the choruses, and can't find his pitch in the Middle 8 - I admire Bono trying hard to sell it - seems like a surprising number of technical bugs in addition to just not knowing what worked yet thanks to the short rehearsal time.

Also pretty odd to see Bono play a Les Paul.

@u2boy16 They were under-rehearsed due to the rushing of POP to the stores, and the fact they let management book the whole tour before the album was even finished.

That's also because they were under-rehearsed. Plus the songs sounded thin cause they didnt have enough of a backing guitar to fill in the holes. So some of these songs never quite sounded as good live(Last Night on Earth had one of the worst live intros ever. And early on they were fuckin em up all over live.

But POP is a very good album overall. My 4th favorite U2 album. But the tour was not.

I didn't like this song at first but after listening to the Mexico city concert in the car over and over it grew on me and it's probably one of my favorite ones from pop.

Just sounds like a lot of mistakes were made with how Pop was handled. The album was rushed because of the tour being booked, plus Bono having voice problems. His voice sounded shot, even on the album.

Never understood why POP was so disliked. Aside from Miami and The Playboy Mansion there isn't a song I skip. There are some really solid songs, Gone, LNOE, SATS, DYFL...

I like POP more than Zooropa. And yeah, Miami is the only track I skip. The Playboy Mansion sometimes too. But the first half of the album is solid as hell. As good as Achtung Baby's stuff IMHO. Unfortunately, there are two weak songs on the album where AB had none.

I actually think so much of the bad vibes people give POP stems from the tour that came with it.

their only human, u2 have genrally always done great gigs, so to fail would stick out.

it's just that the song needs edge's backing vocal in the chorus, like in mexico

This is u2 during their first night without practice and someone has not made tampered with the sound to make them sound better.

Personally i feel they did a great job without getting time to sort themselves out :)

This is the infamous Las Vegas opening night of Popmart. It was a disaster! just go back and read media reviews for this show. It was hard enough just to sell the concept of this show to the audience at the time.
