  • I met Grand Master Choi Chang Keun, one of Gen. Choi Hong Hi's students, a few days ago when he came to visit one of his students (my instructor) A really nice man, i picked up a book he wrote called The Korean Martial art of Tae Kwon Do & Early History. I has many Tae Kwon Do movements, but most intresting is the history part! Gen. Choi Hong Hi sounds like an amazing man, like Choi Chang Keun.

  • wasn't general choi the one in bruce lee movie with the golden suit. I can't remember the title but kareem -abdul was in it. somebody hit me up with the answer

  • No, he was Jin Han Jae, Great Master of Hapkido.

  • he died at the year of 2002....

  • TAEKWON!! sir

  • This is news to me. I feel so sad. The picture at 3:40 was the photo I took at my Do Jang. The man bowing to Gen. Choi Hong Hi was my Master from when I used to train before at Lee Sukhi Tae Kwon Do in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada. We had the banquet in the honour of Gen. Choi Hong Hi. I moved to Mexico about 6 years ago and recently moved back to Canada. I still have the negatives to this banquet. Gen. Choi Hong Hi used to live just outside of Toronto. I feel really sad now. Tae Kwon!

  • can some1 please tell me when he died, i want 2 remember on that day, that he was the only true taekwondo master

  • gen.choi died in 2002. a sad day

  • Saturday 15 th June 2002

  • 15 June 2002

  • that "sine wave thing" is the scientific principal general choi has taught since he created tkd, it is what makes tkd unique.

  • actually he only started that in the 80`s. early tkd movement was more like shotokan , which he studied . The science thing , well we all know technical linework is not relevant to self defence. If you stand in front of a boxer and try to block his punch with an palmock mackgi you will have a black eye

  • if you try and employ sine wave it will be even slower so I am not sure how the idea it is "scientific" is useful. it is only the itf (I think) that do it

  • eww get out bufantas wtf person shoo

  • not wtf i like punching people in the head

    tagb 4th dan

  • cool

    whats tagb...

  • they are a bit like the A team , only uglier ,but with more money. keep kicking

  • whats A team -_-

lol i dont know a thing

  • you never heard of mr t?

  • whos that

i know who general choi is...

  • Sine wave and "technical line work" / patterns and fundamentals are very relevant to self-defense. From a scientific standpoint it serves to build up efficient neural patterns (both inter and intra muscular coordination) which serves as the basis of proper movement for optimal attack and defense in a sparring or self-defense situation. Patterns should not be a carbon copy of real fighting; they are strength and conditioning exercises.

  • Rest in peace dude

    true master of taekwondo

  • Genaral Choi was amasing!

    R.I.P sir

  • thank you 4 being a true leader always remember

    courtesy

    integrity

    self control

    perseverance

    indomiable spirit

    Atrue leader

  • Who came up with the name "Taekwondo"? Who founded Taekwondo as a combat art for training the Korean army after the war? Who first promoted Taekwondo outside South Korea? Who founded the first international governing body to promote Taekwondo? Of course, it was the Father of Taekwondo! The "True" Korean history should speak out.....Gen. Choi was ahead of his time and understood what Taekwondo should be like as a combative art.....for all the practitioners to learn.

  • Rest in Peace General Choi Hong Hi! Its a privilege to train in the great art of tae kwon do. You will be missed!

  • he was a legand of the world not taekwon-do
