  • Listen to Charlie Parker play in in 1947, 1948 - not quite so fast, although still pretty lively.

  • a tough and fast jazz standard.

  • This is the background music to the time I took speed and ran up and down the hill like a crazy kangaroo....didn't get much done but enjoyed the piss out of it

  • like the sax

  • Who was the bass player?

  • John Donnelly

  • lol John Donnelly

    get it? Donnelly-Donna Lee

    nvrmind

  • That was actually quite a good one. I found your of phonetic play to be quite comical and clever.

  • hahaaa i get it...

  • @aqua9126 HA! thats pretty funny

  • 素晴らしい。

  • How many trumpet players have you heard attempt Donna Lee? I've heard recordings by Art Farmer and Conte Candoli--both great. But if it were Moon River, everybody would play it. They don't.

  • red rodney

  • Miles Davis...

  • Ira Sullivan too. I've seen him do it, don't know if he's recorded it. He could probably play the damn thing on the clarinet.

  • his technique isn't the best, but the trumpet sounds sexy anyway!

  • does anybody know where can i get the sheets (scores, notes) for this song....thx

  • Charlie Parker aebersold has it, volume 6.

  • real book

  • @Djpawno1 from band-in-a-box... :-/

  • dude

    the charlie parker omni book..

i have the publisher info if you want it..

  • there is however one wrong note on the aebersold. The end should be a c not a d

  • excellent players -- great rendition of one of the all-time jazz classics.

  • NICE

  • The trumpet and the sax don't sound too hot but the drummer is swingin

  • oooh erksine

  • That dude is asian

  • hahah i need glasses. he looks like an asian peter erksine though

  • These guys are the best

  • Piss you off? It's ok to have ones own preferations, but to "anger up" over such has no place here. The theme was originally played by trumpet and sax. No intent to sound superior:)

  • The pianist Walter Bishop Jr in this footage was actually the pianist in Charlie Parker group as well.

  • isnt the trumpet suppose to articulate this?... whatever, he can play it alright

  • not the trumpet and sax....

  • Jaco was the man for that dude

  • i know......after hearing the bass play the theme line, it can only be done by bass

  • thats what i call music

  • i agree with radio jack

  • none of these guys have very good tone.

  • damn that trumpet player has great stuff happening

  • the drummer is the asian version of magnum, nice goin' vatos

  • hahaha

  • viva el jazz

  • The letter kills but the spirit gives life. If you are focusing on playing the same notes as Parker you miss the point.

  • AKIRA TANA is the coolest drummer alive, so swingin', first time i've ever seen him with hair though.

  • These guys are keeping the memory of Parker alive.

  • these guys can bop man... and you can tell he's studied bird for a LONG time.

  • This guy's embouchure is not very firm. Not very good. =\

  • Are you serious? Come on man.
