This is the background music to the time I took speed and ran up and down the hill like a crazy kangaroo....didn't get much done but enjoyed the piss out of it
How many trumpet players have you heard attempt Donna Lee? I've heard recordings by Art Farmer and Conte Candoli--both great. But if it were Moon River, everybody would play it. They don't.
Piss you off? It's ok to have ones own preferations, but to "anger up" over such has no place here. The theme was originally played by trumpet and sax. No intent to sound superior:)
Listen to Charlie Parker play in in 1947, 1948 - not quite so fast, although still pretty lively.

a tough and fast jazz standard.

Ira Sullivan too. I've seen him do it, don't know if he's recorded it. He could probably play the damn thing on the clarinet.

his technique isn't the best, but the trumpet sounds sexy anyway!

The letter kills but the spirit gives life. If you are focusing on playing the same notes as Parker you miss the point.

AKIRA TANA is the coolest drummer alive, so swingin', first time i've ever seen him with hair though.
