Last year when I was 18, I bought a Kawasaki ER6F (33bhp restricted) and it only cost me £140 to insure it TPF&T. That's about £20 less than it used to cost me to insure my 125cc!!! Even though it's restricted to 33bhp, my ER6F still has enough power and I can cruise comfortably at 80-100 mph on motorways.
@TheDemitirus I live in a small town in Devon. We don't get much crime around here so that obviously helps lower the cost of my insurance. My insurance is with "Wicked Quotes".
What's with the crazy high insurance???? I'm 20. Just got qouted for a 2010 r6 for 77 a month. Full coverage as my bike is financed. And a 500 dollar deductible
get an er6f and stick a scorpion can on it, thats what i have and its restricted to 33bhp and 0-60 is just about 4.5 secs and will do 120mph maybe a bit more on a good day
you poor brits, thats bullshit. restricted fuck me. anyone can you please tell me what your insurance is like for a 600 sport bike??? is this restricted shit worth it?? im from canada and have had a 03 zx6r since i was 19 and i pay out my ass for insurance, first year was 7200 dollars.
@UthinkUknowlol3715 I wouldnt waste 7200 on insuring a bike, I'd have gotten something a bit slower, like an SV650s, I got one, and its plenty quick enough for a first bike
@badman2504 insurance here is rediculous... for anything. my first car i paid 450 a month for coverage. and it was a 96 grand am gt. young guys get raped here, it wouldent really matter what bike i chose
@MrWalxiLegendx On a sports bike, it wont be under 1.5k, infact you would be lucky to get insured. For a bandit or a hornet i can get insured for about 500 third party fire and theft
Im hoping to get a restricted bike soon i havent rung round insure places but the cheapest ive been quoted online is 9 grand third party lool so i was wondering how much was your insure and where did you go for it, cheers.
Incase some of you are asking "Why did he change gear at 8,500rpm insted of readlining it at 13,000rpm to get a quicker 0-60 time?" The answer - This is not the case with a restricted bike. You WILL run out of Juice at 8,500 rpm and holding it on it the same gear will give a slower 0-60. Moving up a gear will bring the revs back down to about 4,000rpm which is round about the maximum peak torque of a 33bhp bike. So there ya go!!!!!!!!1
Shifting my bike from first gear at 10K RPM, gets to 2nd gear 8K RPM
At 10K it delivers just 15BHP. At 8K this is 22BHP. Because that 2nd gear is longer, performance in 2nd gear is multiplied by 0.8, makes 17,6BHP (comparison).
The funny thing is, that the bike accelerates just as fast from 0-50 as 50-100.
Even tho i have from 0-50 a peak of 34BHP, while from 50-100 just less than 22BHP on crank.
hey, just got my yamaha FZ6N S2 2008 restricted today, just wondered how yours is restricted? Washers in exhaust or throttle stop? i think mines completely throttle stop, just hope it rides ok otherwise i wont be happy haha. Says on the paper i was given that it tests at 9k rpm 33 bhp and that its max is 96 mph i think :S ... aaahh cant wait for these 2 years to hurry up and go now lol. Would you say your bikes quick from 60mph upwards? or does its acceleration really slow up? cheers
cool. been looking recently at restricted 600s. So u took the bike test and then after 2 years u get to ride any bike? without doing any other test? my mate sed u have to do another test but im not sure about it.
Good question, are you from the US by any chance (They dont have this law over there)??? Over here in the UK and Europe there are laws if you are below 21 years of age and wish to ride a bike, The engines power has to be restricted down from the original output such as 100bhp down to 33bhp so young people dont kill themselfs. Thanks for asking
and the reason why is because in elgnad you can do your b1 test when your 17 and get say a suzuki gsxr 600 but you have to restrcit it to 34bhp for 2 years i think then when you have u can unrestrict it
This vid indicates to me that u are gonna start motovlogging now... yes?!
I'd like to offer u 2 tips:
* Check out the new motovlogger forum MOTOVLOG[dot]COM. If u like it then post an introduction & say Hi. It'll probably get u more subs too :-)
* If u want more subscriptions to motovloggers. Look thru my subscriptions & sub to the one's u like. I have MANY subscriptions & they're practically all motovloggers =)
Pass these tips along to others if u wish. Hope they help. Take care :-)

What is done to the bike to restrict the power?
bigfatbutts 11 months ago
@bigfatbutts Usually it is a little metal ring in the exaust, like a washer, It completely zaps the power

A bike that's had it's power restricted to 33hp so new riders under the age of 21 can ride them. It's a legal requirement for 2 years unless over 21.
