where does this loop start? time travelers would have to exist already - mikuru's theory that the world is normal. time travelers come from the future so mikuru started it?

in the movie, the third kyon probably means that the main kyon has to travel and correct time. wonder if we'll ever see that

Yuki's name is actually a pun on Ayanami Rei. Both Ayanami and Nagato were famous japanese battleships. And while "Rei" means ice, "Yuki" means snow.

However, there is a complete difference between Yuki and Rei. This is shown in the Suzumiya Haruhi Light novels. Especially novels 4, 7 and 8. We can see Yuki's character developing. The mystery is why can't Yuki express her emotions: Is she physically unable to do so? Is she afraid of doing so? Or was she forbidden from doing it?

1946, sorry. It was the battleship that carried the survivors of Kaga to Japan and it sent the message that caused the attack on Pearl Harbor, it sailed with Battleship Yamato and sister ship Mutsu. She was the flagship of Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku before he switched to Yamato.

Nagato was the first battleship to mount 16-inch guns and was the first in the Nagato-class. I think her only battle was at Leyte Gulf. She was caught by Americans and destroyed during the BAKER atomic bomb testing.

@rickg22 My thoughts on Yuki's personality is that she simply wasn't exposed to enough human culture to be able to adapt their way of behavior. Remember, she is only three years old and she spent those three years on standby. Other entities like Ryouko have a wider range of emotion because they've probably been on Earth longer than Yuki has.

She does, however, have demonstrable emotions, something that (to the best of my understanding) can't be said of the other Humanoid Interfaces.

@rickg22 I think the reason she doesn't is a combination of the three. At first, she COULDN'T, but she soon learned to, and was afraid to do so, since she thought (or knew) that she would be removed from the physical realm or organic beings, where she enjoyed being.
