  • Very nice songwriting by Kenny R. Great production for capturing that classic 70's pop vibe!

  • I love this and all of Helen's songs. xo

  • This is one of my favorite Helen Reddy songs too. I used to have her Greatest Hits album. What happened to her lips on that cover?

  • This song reminds me a being a very lttle girl camping with my family on the beaches of California. Some of my happest memories growing up always had music involved. Now I live at the beach and this is still a song that brings back those happy memories.

  • Very nce. ;-)

  • I remmember my mom singing this to me to put me to sleep when I was little.

  • I hadnt heard this song for a long time. Very nice and very nice video too.

  • @follyfoot13 Thank you.

  • thanx so much for the share. Love Helen Reddy's music even to this day!! an incredibly beautiful song

  • Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames?? yeah, just downloaded the song from them called "Theme From Bonnie & Clyde".

  • Georgies version is on youtube.

He was very popular in the '60s but mostly in Europe.. still alive today. Had a Jazz-Blues band called The Blue Flames.(backed Hendrix)

    Thanks again for this one.

  • @taildragger53 Not by Helen Reddy. It would have been performed by Kenny Rankin, who wrote it.

  • @MrTrashcan1 Apologies..it seems weird but i was sure the version in '68 was by Helen but it must've been Georgie Fame's version that i'd heard as a kid. Fame's version(on 2nd listening) wasn't as good as Helen's.

Unfortunately, Kenny Rankin wasn't well known in Britain although he was a first class singer/musician/writer.

But thanks again for this musical gem.

  • @taildragger53 Hmm. Never heard of Georgie Fame. I'll have to check him out.

  • This sounds like a song that would've been played on the Miss America pageant, either for the swimsuit, or, evenin' gown competitions. Helen hit #12 in Billboard, 5-5-73. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • I love Kenny (he wrote it) but I like her version better than Kenny's.

  • This is just beautiful! Love the pictures! You did an excellent job.

  • Love this song!

  • One of the 70's best--& underated vocalists. Her voice--like Karen Carpenter--was easy on the ears, & effortless. What a time it was--'73. I was 26, going on 27. Wolfsky9

  • @Wolfsky9 must've been awesome being 26 in the 70's huh? Now it SUX!

  • Beautiful song....

  • This song is done in classic 1970s style (in a good way). I can almost imagine this being the theme song to some TV programme or perhaps a made-for-TV movie or an ABC After School special ("Dawn: Portrait of a Las Vegas Lounge Lizard")...

  • Brilliant song with a stunning video - great job! I used to play this song all the time when I was 13 and stuck in bed a lot with asthma - now I'm a healthy 46 year old but still love it!

  • @finny505 Thank you--glad you enjoyed it. So I guess you didn't suffer an asthmatic attack from the cat pictures. :-)

  • This song is fabulous. I haven't heard this song in quite a long while. I don't

have it on my ALBUM (wish I did). Thank you, Listening to the song & seeing

the very lovely scenery had a very calming effect on me. God bless you for this.

  • @hope037 Thank you, Hope. Glad it you enjoy it and that it helps you.

  • Helen hit #2 AC, and #12 pop in Billboard. God bless! RIP, Kenny Rankin.

  • Thanks so much for this. I listened to it on my parents 8 track when I was 13. This song has always stuck in my head. Matter of fact, I don't think I've listened to it since then!

  • Great song. I had her greatest hits 8-track. She was a great talent. Great kick-ass orchestra too. Reminds me of the accompanying of Mason Williams on Classical Gas. All the music from that era rocks !

  • Classic Reddy! Powerful yet sweet and smooth,... just like the great lady herself!

  • Sally Timms from Mekons sounds like Helen.

  • Sally Timms from Mekons sounds like Helen.

  • describes my life .. right now!! how I love my county life !!

  • I follow Helen Reddy's career since 1971 when I first heard her first hit ( I don't know how to love him). This song is also one of my big favourites. Thank you very much Mr. Trashcan't for posting it.

  • Helen Reddys best song. Its too bad she was as ugly as shredded mule shit.Iif she had Olivia newton Johns looks she would have been more popular than Jesus Christ himself with her amazing voice.

  • @Mydickitches1 oh! You must be a perfect looking human being...congrats! You dumb, stupid ASS....she is a lovely woman, and at her peak was beautiful.....who deemed you to be so perfect? Send me your photo. I love it when someone is judged by their looks.....get a life. You disgust me

  • @Spectres - thanks for reminding me - I had the 45, too, and gave both sides equal play. I wish someone would post "What Would They Say" to YouTube.

  • I agree - I think it's one of her best songs ever. I used it as background music to film my son at home when he was just a few months old - filmed him sleeping in his crib.

  • great track, great singer, great decade. 'sadly missed". thanks for posting !!!

  • Helen's voice is so beautiful. She aged so well too! Very natural and lovely.

  • One of THE greatest female vocalists of ALL TIME. What a fabulous, distinct, unique, just beautiful voice. There's a way she sings some words that just stay with you forever. FOREVER. Like at 1:53 and 2:06 - that is so recognizable, and magical - it's her PERSONAL voice; like the inner her making itself out into the world. That fabulous gorgeous sound. Her singing is like heaven to the ears.

  • Did your wish come true for you??

  • Thanks for putting that together, very sweet and beautiful!!!

  • @Lynney96 Thank you, Lynney!

  • Reminds me of college days...great memories.

  • Very nice video and song!! Helen has a very nice singing voice!!

  • This song has been for more than thirty years, and always shall be one of my all time favorite songs. I absolutely adore its music, and I very much enjoy hearing Helen Reddy singing it (Peaceful). Stephen Wayne Reno Monday, May 24, 2010

  • One of my favorites, Thanks.

  • Oh, I love yr video and Helen singing - she`s been a favorite since I found her when i was 12 yrs old! Yes, I worked then and spent all my earnings on records (vinyl):-)))

  • my greatest family friends and i would sing all of her hits.

This is THE song I always wanted to sent to the LOML

    ...of my LIFE ...cheers !

  • I love this song...it's so beautiful and relaxing. I thought of it today when I came to my office early...it was so quiet. I thought "nobody breathing in my ear...:" and the song came back to me in full. Thanks, Youtube!

  • This is such a beautiful song video it makes me cry but I love it!!

  • The strings sound awesome. Very similar to Anne Murray's music of the same era.

  • Love this song, Love Helen. Thank you for posting!

  • Sweeet childhod memories flood back with this one! Remember "Thinkin' Of You" by Loggins & Messina? seems like that one was big around the same time, not to mention "Operator" by Jim Croce-great AM radio period...

  • Sound like somethin' that could've been played on the Miss America pageant as the girls walked by. Hit #12 in Billboard. God bless!

  • I remember listening to this song countless times in the early 70's. It reminds me of an 8-track that we had of Helen Reddy's Greatest Hits. I love the echo on the drums, and Helen's soft voice. This song should be re-introduced into a soundtrack, or something of the sort. Thank you Helen

Reddy for getting me through some bumps in the road, and for day dreaming your peaceful song.

  • I've been around a little longer than Helen. I remember when this came out. I loved it. No less now than then. When she gets into that chorus and the (french horns)? lead in, the chills go up my spine. Way under-rated song.

  • Still a beautiful song after all these years.

  • +1 on the Vacuum tube sound. This song of hers has a tremendous amount of bass,,and can only be appreciated on a tube unit. In my store here in Louisville I have 4 amps of 125 watts each,, I have seen customers litteraly come to tears when listening to Peaceful,, and the floor and walls are vibrating from the Bass. Thanks so much for posting this for us !!

  • Isn't that funny, about the song being underplayed.I just heard this song a few weeks ago on the radio, and I have never heard it before I am 39 years old and have been listening to 70's music for years and when I heard the song I was thinking "this is an absolutely beautiful song, why is it hardly played?" Song gives me chills and brings me to tears! When that trumpet or flugal horn comes in at the end ,bliss! You gotta hear this through a vacuum tube stereo!! I really like the video .Thankyou !!

  • This is priceless; this beautiful tune 1 of her very best; i was 19 in '73, spent most of the summer in the Big Sur best time of my life. All these years, all these summers & winters later, this song reaches out to me, to you, to so many of us that remember the beautiful '70's.

  • thanks for posting, fan of the 70s

  • One of Helen's most underappreciated gems - thanks for posting!

  • Used to be a fan back in the 70s but she split from her husband and the songs didn't seem to ring true anymore. Still got the albums.

  • I am always amazed at the power this song has over me. A 48 yr old and this song relaxes me and gives me strength at the same time. Often times I will shed a tear listening as this is truly a beautiful song in every respect. Thanks to Kenny and Helen for a great work of music that still brings so may a strong sense of joy even after all these years.

  • When I first heard this sung back in the 70's, I had to buy the album. In some way that I couldn't understand, I thought that Helen Reddy's rendition oozed of sexuality.

  • I totally forgot this song since the 70s.

There is something about the lead in to the chorus by (presumably) french horns and Helen's singing, again particularly in the chorus, than can still send chills down my spine. I love it. I won't stop playing it until me or youtube fades away. Thanks so much for the post.

  • I Adore All Helen's Songs. Thanks for posting

  • hmm, this song is going in my ipod in the "calm down Darryl" folder!

  • Sometimes we hear he on XM radio ch, 28...

  • Oh loveleeeeeee! havent heard this since the 70's , what a great voice from the past,

    made my day!

    :-)

  • Oh,what a great song !!!!

  • Rest In Peace , Kenny Rankin.

  • I :Love U

  • Lovely song and the video is just as beautiful!

  • I Heart the 70's!

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!!!!!!!! I love this song. Thanks for posting this. I was hoping someone did, thanks.

  • I was never much of a Helen Reddy fan, but this song....what a great, GREAT song! Thanks for the post. Hadn't heard it in over 30 years.

  • R.I.P., Kenny Rankin

  • RIP Kenny Rankin

  • From her greatest hits album I played this song the most with You And Me Against The World. A very underrated song and very good song. Thanks to the late Kenny Rankin for writing this

  • Kenny Rankin, the writer of this song, died yesterday. Thanks Kenny for writing such a beautiful song for Helen!

  • Always liked it. Magically just heard it over the radio. Well, its been alooooong time.

  • this is one of my favorite songs EVER ever ever....reminds me of, y'know, way back, not good times, but OK anyway

  • I play this song constantly. Reminds me of my childhood and makes me feel good.

  • I have the 45 of this....on the flip side is a tune called "What Would They Say." It's a great song also....I'm surprised nobody has loaded it on YouTube.

  • It's because most people who post 45s on YT are doing Top 40, rock and roll, or doo-wop, and this does not fit any of those categories. I have posted some 45s, but in this case just went to my mp3s for the music.

  • @Spectres "What Would They Say" was written by Paul Williams. His version is on Youtube.

  • Great,Great song.Just simply enjoy the Tune !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very pretty song. A rare gem!! Thanks for posting.

  • I really love the song and to my opinion, Helen's version is just as great.....thnx for the post.......love fr Tokyo

  • Kenny Rankin did this song too. It's on youtube and is pretty good.

  • He wrote it.

  • Mr.T, this great song is just a reminder that I haven't heard this since you're old station.Love Helen & Love this song!

  • This is for those who are lost in a marriage to an artistic man who thinks that their lives belong to them, and them alone. It is nice to know that there is a woman who has their own ideas, and that their lives don't belong to them. So when (the hubby) says, they say, "how was you're day?" and not get lost in their story, and that that the wife has something equally interesting to share. I love this song. And all the women who are married to an "artist" can relate to what I am saying.

  • the problem with artists is they have this sort of one way vision which is hampered in an aura of self rightiousness, channeled with blinders and bloated with disregard for the "little misses" creativity. he brobably has dreams of sailing a boat up and down the seaboard with you shanghied in his dillusions of grandour. suprise him and set sail in your own steam of promise, you'll thank me for my vision. Godspeed dear lady.

  • p.s. check out Nicolette Larson's "Lotta Love", it's so refreshing

  • Love this beautiful song.

  • Brings back so many memories, this is just music at it's very best.

    Thanks for posting

  • Helen Reddy had so many hits but for some reason the only one I hear is "I Am Woman". What about the rest, radio???

  • Hi, Philip, my Helen Reddy fan, hope you are doing well! Thanks for stopping by.

  • You're more than welcome... I have posted many Helen Reddy songs on my channel as well MrTrashcan1... please pay me a visit too! Take care!

  • WOW!! Thanks for posting this incredibly obscure helen reddy song.

Have no idea why it lept to mind today (I'm not even a Reddy fan, per se) but it did... probably haven't heard it since 1973.

    Thanks again

  • I love to dance around in my underpants to this great song.

  • I appreciate your comment as long as you're a female. :-)

  • great song, brings back great memories from Baltimore in 1973, thanks again.

  • Thanks! I have been hoping to find this song - beautiful pictures!
