I cannot stand the dancing f/a/g/ on 27:01, he prances around with four women so in reality it's five women. The princess talks like a street market vendor, the prince is creepy and that huge woman... this is terrible.
I love this movie but it always bothered me how the heck do the giant girl and the cow get down! They never even show that they get down they just show them coming out of the castle! lol
@MrsMe526 They probably never do get down. They'll live in the giant's castle the rest of their lives, with only each other and the talking harp for company. Tragic...
They never seemed to pastiche Laurel and Hardy. Yet the scene where the Giant knocks at the door, using Lou Costello's head as a door knocker does have a bit of Stan Laurel about it!
I love the internet. I was just telling someone the other day how I miss all the old movies with abbot and Costello, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Etc Etc.... And here they are on you tube, YES!!!!!!!
you know, this movie may have a lot of editing mistakes, theres some questions about it (were the towns people waiting by the beanstalk for all those days and nights, why didnt they help jack cut down the tree), the giant isnt that tall, the swords are obviously rubber, and it was obviously on a set.
but still, this is better than any other jack and the beanstalk movie and its one of my favorite movies and it is extremly funny.
@Dullfang2 You make some good points. The giant was actually only 6'6. Thats tall but its not giant tall. They couldnt find a 7 footer to play the part?
@copnite12342 I remember reading about it a few years ago, and if memory serves me correctly it was about jealousy. People liked Costello's onscreen character better. Apparently it was open loathing and if one was in a public place and the other came in..one would just get up and leave. Outside of the act they couldn't be in the same room.
Quite a contrast between them and Laurel and Hardy who were as devoted to each other's friendship as if they were brothers.
@islandsylph thats life. like in the jefferson's when the actors who played george and louise those two did not like each other. and in planet of the apes the actors of zira & corenlius were sick of each other.
@Lurking99 what are talking about. this was a total classic. if you were expecting a laugh out loud comedy as their other movies than you were looking in the wrong place. This wasnt supposed to be that funny. Its more of a fantasy musical film than a comedy as it was inteded to be.
Those two did have something special: Abbott...the quick witted, smooth talking con man type, and Costello...Abbott's happy, half-headed but nearly harmless dupe. I miss them both.
@thriller2rayne I get paid per view & click, but I'm not sure what they do about clicking it over and over. They might detect the same person was clicking it over and over and only pay me for one. Not sure.
@LuckyStrike502 dude if one person clicks your ad alot then they could terminate your youtube account because they think you made a fake account and was clicking your own ads to get money. so be careful
@Drfat4 Nah, they won't terminate my account. All views and clicks are reviewed before payment is made. They would know if it was me clicking my own ads.
I used to watch all the Abbott and Costello movies with my mother, she passed away so when i watch these movies it reminds me of better times. thank you for having this up here.
when I first saw the Giant I was hella freaked out and scared because I was like 6 when I first saw this. 13 years later I'm still freaked out by his face. I have this movie on VHS and I always watch it.
Oh my frikkin god. I haven't seen this since my mom got rid of our VHS tapes. This was my favourite movie as a kid. One of my good memories from before my parents' divorce was watching this on a Friday night with my little sister and eating a mint Areo chocolate bar. Thanks :D
WOOOOOOOOOOOW, I remember this! I had this on VHS VIDEO that my mum or dad recorded for us coming back from McDonalds because of my cousin gerald's birthday. Aw, MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN is this awesome memories from this!!!
@mlsj4598 those black tapes that people had long before DVD ever came out.
used on a device called a VCR (video cassette recorder), usually a big black rectangular box that would occasionally eat these vhs's up from time to time, this would also happen to audio cassette tapes when played in a walkman or a boombox. look in thrift stores, where there will be tons of these VHS's sitting on the shelves.
