@pokemon200016 I think the problem is that there's a lot of small things wrong with it. It doesn't feel as playable as Sonic 3&K and there's a lot of rehashed content. When I was playing, it didn't feel like I was playing something new or exciting.

@pokemon200016 Dude have you played Sonic 1, 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles? I wouldn't call the physics a small thing to complain about, it's a huge part of the gameplay. And the physics in Sonic 4 are atrocious. On a downhill slope, Sonic loses momentum if you don't hold right (if you're going right). if he's curled up into a ball. That just makes zero sense. You have to control him completely differently to the older games. Sonic 4 is supposed to be the direct sequel S3&K, which to me is an insult.
I know this is a little old, but I don't think that most of the complaints about Sonic 06 were about Sonic. I actually had no problem with how Sonic, Shadow, Blaze or Omega played, they all felt great. But everyone else being slow felt very anti-Sonic. And Sonic 4 doesn't quite felt like the older games, like it was supposed to, but it is a decent game overall. The mechanics in both games is the real problem, which they could have been tweaked.
I know I'm beating a dead horse,but those 3 acts are better than anything Sonic 4 has ever gaven us.Sure,it's cool to see old zones in HD,but isn't a sequel supposed to have new content? The physics in this game are a bit slippery,imo,but are still better than Sonic 4's.
"Sonic the Hedgehog 4" next to "Sonic Fan Remix" is a hair taken for all fans of the blue hedgehog. I am very disappointed that Sega did this game, the truth is that I expected more from them and not only that but even serves as a sequel to "Sonic 3".
Almost forgot to look at them recomindo videos of "Sonic XG" to be continued "Sonic 3" is very well done. I highly recommend it.

Professional as in Retro Fag?XD The only recent Sonic game that was downright terrible was Secret Rings. 06 at the very least had amazing potential and was very fun to play once you got good at it. The only people who hate the new Sonic games are the ones who are stuck on the 2D Sonic games and can't get themselves out of the past. My opinion part -2 Did you immerse yourself in the sheer retro 8-bit music and graphics of sonic 1,2&3? Probably not. The Dreamcast era wowed us with excellent 3-d gameplay. Yes sonic adventure 2 was linear but still a good game! You fake fanboys need to learn your Sega before bashing over oldschool sonic. Yes unleashed was an amazing game, i enjoyed Sonic colours and i know Sonic generations will be good. But none of these can outclass the classics when Sega really put effort into their games!

My opinion part -1 The Sonic games on genesis were by far the best especially Sonic 3! Sonic CD JP version was so amazing because of the music also! Only second to the Sonic Adventure series on Dreamcast. Sonic adventure was so amazing because of the non-linear gameplay and music. People who are complaining about the Genesis era, did you even PLAY these games to begin with?

Sonic returned the Master Emerald, and The Death Egg was already destroyed, if you got the Bad Ending then yes this would make since, but every Sonic game continued off the Good Ending like Sonic 3. But yes the Sonic 4 story is very...bad, especially the PA trying to make us believe Sonic 2 and 3 happened at the same time.

this is an exciting idea but some of the details are odd, like the dust and shield and explosions, too realistic or off (less particles, more sprite/16bit look). i think they don't match the rest of the world which is a sort of polished cartoon look. jumping sound needs to change. jumping physics seem off, like he's on butter or ice (i know it was a bit slippery in old games but here he doesn't seem grounded, like the steps are out of sync with running). also i prefer sonic3 sprite of him.
@variously2 but the backgrounds look great as do plants and level colors. i like the changing background as you progress, i like the music, it's pretty good, maybe could be a little more varied but is pretty catchy, and i like the reworked boss music, it's pretty good too. don't like the style of the meteor fireballs coming on the screen or the sprite of him jumping. so it's look pretty good so far, needs some work, not sure if they read this, but i like a lot of what i see.

Seriously Sega needs to look at their fans instead of coming up with ideas that dosent seem right for Sonic. Sonic has been in situations he shouldnt be in, mainly weapon type games, like Shadow the hedgehog, Sonic and The Black Knight. Those games are meaningless to me. Sega should have stayed 2d and continued the story of Sonic The hedgehog. THIS is a great fan made game. Im actually very disappointed in Sonic The Hedgehog 4 though. i was expecting more out of it.

@ElemntalHeroSparkman the sonic team back then and sega technicle institute were of such quality back then that they were able to make those 4 original gems. it just won't happen again. i highly doubt any fans will be able to do it (those teams had a large staff and talent group that was paid, today's professional staff only see sonic as a nexgen character and it doesn't translate so well)
@TheMKFMusic Believe it or not, there WAS an update for XG very recently. It has merged with the Sonic Nexus and Sonic Retro fan games becoming Sonic Retro Nexus. This is because the developers wanted their projects to finally see completion. XG takes the helm of the trio of fan games, and thus this level will return. :)

My opinion part -2 Did you immerse yourself in the sheer retro 8-bit music and graphics of sonic 1,2&3? Probably not. The Dreamcast era wowed us with excellent 3-d gameplay. Yes sonic adventure 2 was linear but still a good game! You fake fanboys need to learn your Sega before bashing over oldschool sonic. Yes unleashed was an amazing game, i enjoyed Sonic colours and i know Sonic generations will be good. But none of these can outclass the classics when Sega really put effort into their games!

My opinion part -1 The Sonic games on genesis were by far the best especially Sonic 3! Sonic CD JP version was so amazing because of the music also! Only second to the Sonic Adventure series on Dreamcast. Sonic adventure was so amazing because of the non-linear gameplay and music. People who are complaining about the Genesis era, did you even PLAY these games to begin with?

Sonic returned the Master Emerald, and The Death Egg was already destroyed, if you got the Bad Ending then yes this would make since, but every Sonic game continued off the Good Ending like Sonic 3. But yes the Sonic 4 story is very...bad, especially the PA trying to make us believe Sonic 2 and 3 happened at the same time.

this is an exciting idea but some of the details are odd, like the dust and shield and explosions, too realistic or off (less particles, more sprite/16bit look). i think they don't match the rest of the world which is a sort of polished cartoon look. jumping sound needs to change. jumping physics seem off, like he's on butter or ice (i know it was a bit slippery in old games but here he doesn't seem grounded, like the steps are out of sync with running). also i prefer sonic3 sprite of him.

@variously2 but the backgrounds look great as do plants and level colors. i like the changing background as you progress, i like the music, it's pretty good, maybe could be a little more varied but is pretty catchy, and i like the reworked boss music, it's pretty good too. don't like the style of the meteor fireballs coming on the screen or the sprite of him jumping. so it's look pretty good so far, needs some work, not sure if they read this, but i like a lot of what i see.

this is a really well put together game. i have the same program they made it in too (Multimedia fusion 2), and it makes me wonder what all i can create. i love the Sonic CD sprites they used too. and i deliberately got a game over just to hear the "game over, yeaaaaaaaaa~!" i cant wait for the full thing

Seriously Sega needs to look at their fans instead of coming up with ideas that dosent seem right for Sonic. Sonic has been in situations he shouldnt be in, mainly weapon type games, like Shadow the hedgehog, Sonic and The Black Knight. Those games are meaningless to me. Sega should have stayed 2d and continued the story of Sonic The hedgehog. THIS is a great fan made game. Im actually very disappointed in Sonic The Hedgehog 4 though. i was expecting more out of it.

To be honest i look towards fan mades over the originals. Though i do play official Sega Sonic gmaes but only the ones from the genesis all the way up to Adventure 2 battle. Also im saying that if the fans can impress journalist and other gaming television shows/networks, maybe Sega should start looking at us more..

@ElemntalHeroSparkman the sonic team back then and sega technicle institute were of such quality back then that they were able to make those 4 original gems. it just won't happen again. i highly doubt any fans will be able to do it (those teams had a large staff and talent group that was paid, today's professional staff only see sonic as a nexgen character and it doesn't translate so well)

@TheMKFMusic Believe it or not, there WAS an update for XG very recently. It has merged with the Sonic Nexus and Sonic Retro fan games becoming Sonic Retro Nexus. This is because the developers wanted their projects to finally see completion. XG takes the helm of the trio of fan games, and thus this level will return. :)
