I see a LOT of carryovers from MW3-4 on here. the ever durable Daishi, Mighty Thor, the versitile madcat, just to name a few faves. this is COOl. kind of looks like someone just made a video using MW3 and 4 stuff though with new backgrounds and combat theaters.
One game I want to play that reminds me so much of MechWarrior is Earth Siege. Out of all the mech sims I've played, that is a true, honest to God, mech sim!...Second to this one Xbox mech game who's name escapes me...
@GalmLead I remember Earthsiege, had sort of a "Terminator"-ish storyline, humans vs machines. In EarthSiege 2 you could pilot an aircraft called a "Razor". Mount a pair of fire-linked particle beam weapons on it and rip PitBulls to shreds without being touched.
loved this games still have the orginals but even though i loved mw4 - mw4 merc i think mw3 was the best better graphics than 4 weapons effects better, i dont knw why the graphics changed so dramatically from 3 too 4?

I was referring to MechWarrior *2*: Mercenaries (yeah, Activision got original with their titles, didn't they?) which came out in 1996, two whole game engines earlier than the game we got talking about - at that time a man by the name of Jeehun Hwang was composing soundtracks for a LOT of Activision's titles in the mid-to-late-90's (my bad I'd said Soundelux, but they were doing post-prod audio work on the same titles)

As well, there were two other 'expansions' - the Clan and Inner Sphere Mech Packs that introduced a new weapon or two, a couple of maps and a handful of additional Mech chassis; they got to be quite rare, tho.

well it is originally called battle tech... i use to play it before it was mechwarrior or a video game... mechwarrior is the mercenary companion to battle tech in the books... the game came out in the 70s or 80s as a rollplaying game with little figures.. it was sooo cool... then in the 90s turned into a video game...
I remember it, little pewter and lead miniatures that we could give a custom paint job to. or using the card-stock mechs in the box (or plastic miniatures with the deluxe version... I think I still have an original plastic battlemaster in my gear somewhere.

I´ve been playing lots of Mech Warrior games now and many of them are truly impressive. Of course the generation which right now is around 12 yo wont be able to see how good this game is as they define a good game when A its just action and no story and B its graphics are good.
I think the Battletech games will survive this era as games like Modern Warfare will be forgotten in around 5 years as these have nothing that makes them stand out.
Any news on MW remake? Last thing I read about it was about legal issues for one of the mech designs because of harmony gold USA (I hope those greedy talentless fuckers break).

Separately, Catalyst (the licensed publisher of the books) recently secured the rights to publishing images of 'The Unseen'; not sure what that'll do for Jordan's MechWarrior (reboot) - it does have a Warhammer in the trailer, but that's not a static image in a book, but an animated model in a videogame; still haven't seen the thing released yet so there's probably more legal wrangling going on. *shrug*

too bad the online community sucks balls. Every game is 100 ton mechs hiding behind a mound and using jumpjets to snipe. All multiplayer games devolve into that. I am not getting mech5 unless there are multiplayer modes that spice it up like king of the hill or capture the flag...something. I was hoping to use mechs like madcat or the faster ones like owens or jenner. nope, every game is 100 tons of large plasma snipy slowness. very boring and gets old fast. huge dissapointment.
@krondax teehee i love it when they are alone and i can exploit thier slowness. I can feel thier rage as i slowly take out the legs and torso while easily avoiding line of sight. They usually never go it alone after that though and theres not much i can do when 4 heavies huddle together. The giant lasers are too much and unavoidable when they hunker down like that.
@7255202 best was when i snuck up on a black knight jumping.. and we both had passive radar. i had a cauldron borne... and when when i was about to strafe, he jumped, so i entered "hi" into the chat box, stopped infront of him and waited for him to land before sending him the message, and hit him with an alpha.
@krondax alpha strikes are a thing of mechassault and not worhy to be used at all in the mechwarrior universe, since firing all your weapons at once would not only spike your heat, but shut down your 'mech AND have the possibility of cooking off your unspent ammunition - IE internal ammo explosion.
@Basspounder5 theres mech commander and mech commander II... i ve never played starcraft, but i assume its a 'eye in the sky', command and conquer/warcraft type game.... the mech commander games are similar but you dont 'build' things and 'upgrade' them.... you just buy mechs and weapons and do missions and such... still fun for being made in the late 90's...
All the Mechwarrior games have been about covert ops and surgical strikes, or convoy escorts. I think Mechwarrior Reboot needs to have some missions involving total warfare with atleast 100 mechs on each side. Even in MW4 mercs the largest fight only involved 8 enemy lances, AKA 32 mechs.
@Ironheart93 go check out "Soundelux" they're the house that produced the music for all the MW2 games - one of those is the source of this track (can't remember which)
@fyte4luv808 MW2 got me hooked, and I still have the CD too (and you can even play it on WinXP with a hook program). But I think MW3 was the best. It was so immersive. MW2 has the boss tunes, though :P Unfortunately MW4 really ruined the gameplay, as it seemed like they were trying to make it more like a first person shooter and going for mass appeal. Have you seen the HD gameplay video on youtube for MW5? That Hawken game looks pretty cool too; look for the HD in-game video on youtube.

Nice work on the vid, however if the new MW comes out, and apparently wiping 5 out of the tittle, it's going to take place before the clans showed up to the IS. So that means some of those mechs like the Mad Cat and the Vulture probably aren't going to be present.

@Helldiver450 They've tried something like that with MechAssault. There's a reason there's no MechAssault 3. MechWarrior is a series where precision and variety holds out over throwing as many homing weapons as you could onto a chassis. When everyone is zipping around like Wasps on crack, you lose a lot of the charm of the series, which actually was meant to have huge, plodding monsters alongside the aforementioned speed demons--specifically for the contrast.

I cannot help it: But the more modern computer graphics get the more uglier they do appear to me; these semi-realistic graphics look far worse than the drawn old ones did look far better; just take the difference Mech Commander I and II; even in the cockpit Mech Warrior games these new graphics look ugly and someone must tell these coxcombs that having 31st century War machines combined with current American planes and helicopters is not a very good idea, as one recognizes the models.

Assault Tactics 1 is a newtech indie update of the series which takes the series and makes it a tense white knuckle brawl with 16 people struggling for supremacy in 65-ton monsters. Bloody good fun. And remember, just because something is recent, doesn't mean it's good. Kane & Lynch 2 came out in 2010 and it was arse from beginning to end. System Shock 2 is a superior game with better gameplay, atmosphere, and story, and that classic came out in 1999.
I would expect the planes of 22th century go a lot faster. And a copters? Aircraft dependent on density of atmosphere in a war running on hundreds of planets? Bullcrap I'd say. But the mechs are awesome, especially the massive rocket barrages, i allways loved that in mech series. Can't wait for REAL mechwarrior 5.

@Wawtable Well I have news for you. You fail. Mech Warrior has been around since 1991 or so for DOS, and it's precursor battletech coined the term Mech Warrior some time in the 80's.

What I think I like about this vid is basically the music, thats about it, I mean obviously this is a mw4 vid, or possobly something similar, but clearly not even close to what mw5 will be if and when it comes out. (yes I know they plan to its just will they ever, that is the question.) From what I know with the new one, look at the trailer, and take about 80% of that, and thats what they plan to do with it, if not go the full 100% of that video.

too bad the online community sucks balls. Every game is 100 ton mechs hiding behind a mound and using jumpjets to snipe. All multiplayer games devolve into that. I am not getting mech5 unless there are multiplayer modes that spice it up like king of the hill or capture the flag...something. I was hoping to use mechs like madcat or the faster ones like owens or jenner. nope, every game is 100 tons of large plasma snipy slowness. very boring and gets old fast. huge dissapointment.

@krondax teehee i love it when they are alone and i can exploit thier slowness. I can feel thier rage as i slowly take out the legs and torso while easily avoiding line of sight. They usually never go it alone after that though and theres not much i can do when 4 heavies huddle together. The giant lasers are too much and unavoidable when they hunker down like that.

@krondax alpha strikes are a thing of mechassault and not worhy to be used at all in the mechwarrior universe, since firing all your weapons at once would not only spike your heat, but shut down your 'mech AND have the possibility of cooking off your unspent ammunition - IE internal ammo explosion.

@Basspounder5 theres mech commander and mech commander II... i ve never played starcraft, but i assume its a 'eye in the sky', command and conquer/warcraft type game.... the mech commander games are similar but you dont 'build' things and 'upgrade' them.... you just buy mechs and weapons and do missions and such... still fun for being made in the late 90's...

All the Mechwarrior games have been about covert ops and surgical strikes, or convoy escorts. I think Mechwarrior Reboot needs to have some missions involving total warfare with atleast 100 mechs on each side. Even in MW4 mercs the largest fight only involved 8 enemy lances, AKA 32 mechs.

@fyte4luv808 MW2 got me hooked, and I still have the CD too (and you can even play it on WinXP with a hook program). But I think MW3 was the best. It was so immersive. MW2 has the boss tunes, though :P Unfortunately MW4 really ruined the gameplay, as it seemed like they were trying to make it more like a first person shooter and going for mass appeal. Have you seen the HD gameplay video on youtube for MW5? That Hawken game looks pretty cool too; look for the HD in-game video on youtube.

Nice work on the vid, however if the new MW comes out, and apparently wiping 5 out of the tittle, it's going to take place before the clans showed up to the IS. So that means some of those mechs like the Mad Cat and the Vulture probably aren't going to be present.

@Helldiver450 They've tried something like that with MechAssault. There's a reason there's no MechAssault 3. MechWarrior is a series where precision and variety holds out over throwing as many homing weapons as you could onto a chassis. When everyone is zipping around like Wasps on crack, you lose a lot of the charm of the series, which actually was meant to have huge, plodding monsters alongside the aforementioned speed demons--specifically for the contrast.

I cannot help it: But the more modern computer graphics get the more uglier they do appear to me; these semi-realistic graphics look far worse than the drawn old ones did look far better; just take the difference Mech Commander I and II; even in the cockpit Mech Warrior games these new graphics look ugly and someone must tell these coxcombs that having 31st century War machines combined with current American planes and helicopters is not a very good idea, as one recognizes the models.

Assault Tactics 1 is a newtech indie update of the series which takes the series and makes it a tense white knuckle brawl with 16 people struggling for supremacy in 65-ton monsters. Bloody good fun. And remember, just because something is recent, doesn't mean it's good. Kane & Lynch 2 came out in 2010 and it was arse from beginning to end. System Shock 2 is a superior game with better gameplay, atmosphere, and story, and that classic came out in 1999.

But the mechs are awesome, especially the massive rocket barrages, i allways loved that in mech series. Can't wait for REAL mechwarrior 5.

4 minutes should have been plenty of time.
Camera work is limited to one fixed angle only in every single shot,
and seems only vaguely aware of what is going on in front of it.
What's that all about?
And what is with the blurry washed out ground terrain?
Even Mechwarrior 2 had more detailed textures.
The action doesn't follow the music in the slightest.
The Mechwarrior 3 and 4 intros have set the bar FAR higher than this.

What I think I like about this vid is basically the music, thats about it, I mean obviously this is a mw4 vid, or possobly something similar, but clearly not even close to what mw5 will be if and when it comes out. (yes I know they plan to its just will they ever, that is the question.) From what I know with the new one, look at the trailer, and take about 80% of that, and thats what they plan to do with it, if not go the full 100% of that video.
