  • Dear "nytecam". I'm wondering if this ETX-70 telescope can gently follow a planet? Do you think if It's capable for a very slow camera move for time-lapse photography with the planet following program?

    Balint

  • @itsvalentine No the drive is not very good - my moon shots etc with motor turned off and moon allowed to drift across the field of view - hope that helps;-)

  • Dear @nytecam Thank you very much! I just tried one motor called SynScan. It works well with Time Lapse.

  • I'd suggest you buy some higher magnification eyepieces. Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars look pretty nice through a small eyepiece. Also, for galaxy, nebulae, and cluster astrophotography I suggest image stacking (there is free software for it online).

    Happy stargazing!

  • what is the difference between this telescope and the meade etx 80?

  • @appleipodtouch2g Not much - Meade do/did ETX-60, 70 and 80 for increasing aperture but all much the same in performance - the GOTO very useful for newcomers.

  • @nytecam so your saying i should be able to see the rings of saturn with a etx 80

  • @appleipodtouch2g Yes but quite small in the '80' but you should spot moon Titan too - btw Saturn is 'behind' the sun at the moment [check SOHO pic on spaceweather..com] and can't be seen 'till early next year in the morning sky. Jupiter + 4 moons in the east at sundown right now - good luck.

  • @nytecam i really really apreciate the help i am a newcomer and all i have is a little celestron 50az at the moment but i think i might either settle for the meade ext 80 or the orion xt8 dobsonian, both for great prices

  • Are you able to see ANY deepsky objects through this telescope at the eyepiece? (not CCD camera) Could you tell me?

  • @SaturnAndItsRings You can see some of the brighter deepsky objects through a telescope's eyepiece and more with a bigger telescope but they tend to be *faint 'n fuzzy* but give it a go - I did when I started;-)

  • @nytecam Forgot - the moon and planets look GREAT even through a small telescope!

  • I have the same telescope

  • that telescope is just a toy!!!!!!!!!!!, you need a telescope that shows saturn the same size as the moon in your video, then you have a good telescope!!!

  • @onekeypianoplayer Yep - I've had many scopes like 17.5" Newt and current 12" SCT - the ETX-70 is portable and best on faint star [see my many YT vids] rather than planets;-) What's your scope??

  • I'm always impressed what a great telescope the Meade ETX 70 is. The recordings were madewith love, good work! Greetings, Monique

  • how can I program the computer the telescope to see planets?

  • @moliseracing0 A number of ''scopes, like the Meade ETX-70, have a built-in 'computer' to find the planets ONCE the scope has been correctly aligned at beginning of viewing session. A Meade accessory [Goggle it] can couple the 'scope to a PC/laptop.

  • Very nice video of the moon in motion!

  • Hello please plz plz can you upload the Mars planet today .Regular mode and in night vision HD plz. Thank you remember I was here.Thai

  • 200 euro well spended.

  • nice video :)

  • nice vid but u should be able to get a better shot at Saturn "at least u could get a higher magnification" with your etx-70

  • Vid pics taken with digicam behind eyepiece - see my better Saturn results via TouCam webcam;-)

  • woh it gud quality

  • Is that definitely Kepler? I always thought it was closer to Copernicus

  • nice

  • Nice shots. Thanks
