wow, my 89 firebird looks exactly look yours, but when your transmission was going bad would it like not catch a gear and just rev up? because thats what mines starting to do, it wont shift into overdrive half the time it just misses and revs up
hey. I wonder if you can help me out with a question. I have exactly the same car as you. I'm looking for a part, but I'm not sure whats the name. its the part thats under the master cylinder. it needs replacing. every time i push the break it makes the car pull to one side.
it looks alot like mine when i got it. though mine dosent have power windows or ac. same motor and year. just replaced the floor. got an orginal shifter knob from a 1982 trans am. though your hood dosent fit with the originality.

@ShredWithMe thirdgen.org is the place to go. Sounds like the fuel pump can't keep up with the demand at 60+. I no mechanic though. Might even be a throttle position sensor or a mass air flow sensor. I'd check the web and see what you can dig up. Good luck

@Zhimaru I'm not sure to be honest. It came with the car. I did finally take it off and put a stock hood on it. If I had the cash for a WS6 hood I would get one but I don't think that would flow with the lines of the car either.
Nice car, that hood scoop needs to go though. Otherwise, I like it. Glad that you're happy with the V6. Many people don't appreciate them. Check out my vids of my '95 V6. It's got Flowmaster exhaust on it so people always tell me they think I got a V8 lol! P.S. 1990 is one of the rarest years for the F-Body. It is the third least produced year for them. I know ALL about Firebirds! : )

You can find 350's if you keep ur eyes open at a reasonable price even more reasonable if you are will to find one and rebuild it. Probably a good thing to do anyway because you do not know where its been or if it was well maintained or not but since you want to keep it original with the 3.1 thats cool too
get rid of that damn glue on scoop off the hood, only makes you look like a ricer especially when they find out you got the sluggish 3.1L under the hood. You could've found a 305 or a 350 for the same price as the newer 3.1L. I have a 88 Iroc L98 myself w/ the 3.27gears and 5.7L 350TPI.
This car actually had a 91 bumper on it that I still have! It looked really out of place on this car because the hood has gaps for the turn signals that are not there on the 91! It was pretty botched but that was the first thing that was changed.

@my90firebird if u wanted to keep it stock why not rebuild the stock 3.1L and leave in the stock stereo? granted u could still have both those still. i too own a firebird and there a lot of fun to drive!

I had to sell my 83' camaro 2 summers ago and it breaks my heart. restored z-28 white with black racing stripes, classic keystone rims, 16" chrome exhaust, the list goes on and on. anyway, the point is i'm lookin at a 90' t-top v6 firebird tomorrow for $500 obo, haven't seen it yet but the guy says it drives great just needs some work and he's just sellin cuz he needs the cash asap. i'm thinkin it might be a steal. thnx for the inspiration =)
i myself have a 1990 and i am the second owner and the car is badass but the motor is in need of work and the guy who had it before me had nit a road median and the median hit the y pipe and knocked off the oil pressure sending unit and he drove it home like that and it sat for 6 years after that so i am trying to restore the whole car this is a badass car tho and there really werent many 90's mad

@my90firebird yea that sounds like a problem with the fuel system. Might have a problem with your fuel pump or fuel injector.

I got a 1990 formula firebird I took the 305 out and put a .30 over 400 sbc in it just because v8 is the only way to go balls to the wall flatout
