Truly a wonderful etude...been working on it for months, still not up to speed..! My left hand gets pretty stiff just thinking about that song though.....
@andrmour I counted about 370 notes JUST on the first page [I counted single chords as 1 note each].... and there's like 5 pages of it..... so I'm thinking around 2000 notes...
I'm playing this for a competiton. It's difficult because of the speed! Luckily the notes are reasonably easy and it is very easy to learn:) Pollini's version is definitely VERY fast!
@liuzhen2006 come on man. Practise and you will play it, this is not impossible, Scriabin etude 12, that is impossible, but this is quite real to play..
@AZFMINOR the etude in order to play it like pollini does or at least right is hard itself.... no.... it is very possible for @liuzhen2006 to play it if practiced but it is quite trublesome ;)
There's sort of a metallic scraping sound at about 1:07. I wonder what it is.

@Perprocrastinate It seems to be the vibration of the steel strings. Answered my own question.

Pollini is my favourite pianist at the etudes of Chopin. He owns the others.

There's something about Pollinis rendition of the etudes that I prefer above all other versions I've heard so far.

this piece is all about energy and pollini is on top of that throughout. Richter even more so.

fantastic!! I'm speechless. Pollini is for sure the best Chopin's Etude performer.
I think this version was used in the movie about Chopin, called Desire for Love.
