To be completely honest, I don't normally like David Lanz. His music is often very simplistic, and imo sometimes sounds like a child wrote it. However, this song is very complex and beautiful. You can see the images that Lanz creates in this song. It's absolutely beautiful.

I've been playing this for 15 years, but I'd never heard the original. Thank you for posting it! There are no dynamics in the score, so it's interesting to hear what he intended, especially for the ending; the soft introductory material returns, so I always bring the last 10 bars down to a tender mp, but he stays forte and ends triumphantly! I'm also surprised to hear a complete lack of rubato... I think this begs for a more romantic approach, but it's his song!
