@SunXia Yes, that is why i put XL in parenthesis on the title. I am playing using DW4XL using the DW4 original load to combine the games. That way, I can play the original stages on Expert difficulty.

Just got this game and Sun Shang is the character I'm using. I went directly to hard mode but when I got to the gates level in Act II, Lu Bu utterly raped me. What items/weapon did you have when you beat him the first time?

It normally is, but duel occurred on one of the earlier stages. So the difficulty is quite low. They are a lot tougher on some of the final stages (He Fei for example when you duel Sun Jian).

I suggest using Zhang Fei for dw4 do to the fact that he has two charges that can grab the opponent and he has a taunt which can literally kill people. Plus he's a starter character in number 4 too.

oO In the DW4 not XL Lu Bu at Hu Lao gate looks harder,you can't make him budge by just hitting him you actual stats do not matter,from what I know,and I'm sure it's an option but you only have 45 seconds >_>

Been there done that. It is actually a little harder fighting him in this duel than in the Hu Lao Gate one, since this stage comes after Hu Lao Gate. It is already in the hardest setting as well, but since all my characters are already maxed, it is quite easy beating enemy officers in a duel, regardless of difficulty. But that is not to say I haven't done what you just mentioned with base stat characters.

If you want hard, try making it to level 150 in the Duel challenge mode in DW4XL.

Well, the thing for me is that Zhang Fei is quite the beast if it's a one on one fight. If you're using Zhang Fei, he could easily top anyone in a duel. First, he has two unblockable charge attacks. His first and fourth. Just keep spamming his fourth charge and the battle will be over before ya' know it. Test it out.
