  • ; ) misspell that!

  • jesus everyone shut the fuck up about grammar and goddamn spelling. pay attention to the beautiful fucking music, for christ's sake. no one cares if you caught someone spelling "genius" wrong. listen to a beautiful song by a wonderful singer/singers played in a spectacular manner by a very talented group of people instead of thinking you're clever by pointing out the fallacy in others.

  • hooo tis is a greate song...

  • Yet another completely unrelated youtube comment thread... why am I naht surprised.

  • Thank You... "Your Grammar Sucks" I'm honored. I am in tears......because that made me laugh so hard I cried!!!

  • Five people were so involved in the music that they slipped and clicked the dislike button!

  • Holy shit!!!!!

  • i love when the cellos do pizz for that section.

  • snif, snif,

  • What a Christmas tune! :D

  • so beautiful

  • Did you know playing any music to your baby wont change anything about how smart they are

  • @supernukeboy666 Actually playing music to a person, the younger they are, the better and more consistently it affects them. Music engages all parts of the brain, and is thus a valuable exercise. It might not raise the baby's IQ, but makes the muscle stronger. This positively affects emotions as well as the more logical areas of the brain.

  • @CatFlashBlue thats wrong actualy it is proven that it won't effect younger people so do me and yourself a favor and do some research before you say i'm wrong

  • @supernukeboy666 Didn't it sound like I had done research? I've seen a handful of documentaries on various sub-sections of music & the human brain. It's also showing some implications that music & dancing helps reverse alzheimer's in older people. Just as with many other aspects of science & humans, I could be ultimately wrong. But there is enough substantial info pointing towards "hell yes music helps the brain" that we have to consider it- we have to look into it.

  • @supernukeboy666 besides the documentaries I've also read about music in various places and discussed it with people, two of them being my band and orch teachers.

  • @ThePlaceToKickIt You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of Youtube.

  • @ThePlaceToKickIt -Who are you? The spelling police? People are not thumbing up my spelling, they are agreeing that the Vitamin String Quartet creates amazing, beautiful, inspiring, music that can positively influence the next generation. I didn't write that expecting it to popular, I just shared my thoughts like everyone else. I sympathize you've never said anything others considered worth hearing.

  • How the hell did Jesus and the bible come into this?

    Oh wait... 'Hallelujah'.

    Honestly, guys....

  • @TheDriftingAeronaut lmao no. This song makes references to the Story of Samson where Delilah "cuts his hair" It references to king David who played the harp for God, also how david saw the woman "bathing on the roof" that he slept with later and killed her husband" like this entire song is biblical so its entirely natural that the subject of Jesus would come up.

  • YOUTUBE WAR!!!!........... that is all

  • this rendition gives me goosebumps, every time.

  • You guys down there really should power down. Evolution doesn't necessarily make any pretense about how matter came to be--it just discusses how complex life evolved from single celled organisms, which is completely reasonable. Don't try to use it like a cudgel, hey?

  • Lol@people with too much time on their hands. (referring to all the people writing paragraphs down there).

  • I'm afraid both parties haven't quite done their research here. And who could expect you to? You're on YouTube, for crying out loud. There is no point to this argument since neither of you are going to change the other's mind. I know each of you feels you have the evidence and the better reasoning here, but it would be better to tell it to someone who agrees with you if you want to be right because we're getting nowhere in the comments on a video. Why be at odds with a complete stranger online

  • I feel like on the journey up the mountain to the gates of heaven, this song will be played

  • at the ascendio, i got shivers down my spine

    more shivers coming...

  • ..having this played at my wedding lol this is amazing

  • In response to the philosophical argument ensuing: I do not deny science it's due respect, But I must remind you, many great scientists are indeed devout Christians. They, as do i, look at science as an ongoing attempt to explain how god does things. The ultimate question one must ask themselves is, what started everything?

  • @SuperGuitarapprentic Umm, actually 96% of scientists are either Agnostic or Atheist, only 4% are theists, and only about half are Christian. But your argument is somewhat true, they want to know what started it, but evolution has almost been completely proven, and there is no evidence to hold creationism up, but "What started everything" is the right choice of words.

  • @pokemonffta2 The 4% is comprised almost exclusively of chemists, psychologists and other sciences that do not touch on the meanings of existence. One simply cannot go far into astronomy, biology, geology, physics etc without meeting complete refutation of the religious perspective on these matters.

  • Huh? I don't know what you're talking about...What dislike bar...?

  • @imaginaryenemy13 *hands magnifying glass*

  • I want to walk down the aisle to this <3

  • If someone need the sheetmusic such as this one, I have a lot. Unfortunately I can not upload those scores legally: Petrucci Music Library or Sibelius Music. Silly, outdated, uncool copyright. Contact electronic only: maciejzolnowski@wp.pl Tel.+48880478721. Price per piece: 300-400 euros. Waiting time: 2-3 days. You can order new songs not only for string quartet; other possible configurations are: big band, woodwind quintet, etc. I'm open to suggestions and different possibilities.

  • Idk weather to have this played at my wedding..or funeral...dammit its a free country its playing at Both!!

  • A friend of mine and I just did this, her on fiddle, me on guitar for her grandparents and mine, and it had our grandmas in tears.

    So beautiful.

  • amazingg

  • I love this song! Truely amazing

  • gorgeous!!!!

  • 3 people are trolls. You don't get here by accident.

  • If you think this version is good, you should check out Time for Three's version.

  • Instead of Mozart I play Vitamin String Quartet to my baby. =) I have a suspicion I am nuturing a genuis because of it.

  • @MissedTheBoat05 Did you know that it is thought that playing Mozart to an infant will increase it's potential intelligence only because of the mathematical formulas used to compose pieces of his? In fact it is not only Mozart, but nearly all of the music in the classical period was based on mathematical alga-rhythms. Now I'm no neurologist so I don't know exactly what this means for the child's intelligence, but it is something to do with subconscious brain activity I'm sure.

  • @SpookInherint I guess VSQ needs to cover Mozart for me then =D

  • @MissedTheBoat05 I guess so! Peace dude.

  • @MissedTheBoat05 ohhh muh gawd. O_O I spelled genius wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • @MissedTheBoat05 he isn't going to be a genius because you can't spell genius right :)

  • @supernukeboy666 read the comments :) I was the first person to point that out. I didn't know 100 people were going to like my comment so I pardon me if it wasn't up to par O_O. Mr. "I've never had a typo in my life." Stop wreathing in jealously no one cared what you have to say.

  • @MissedTheBoat05 I came here because of this comment. YGS

  • @macosnine Whats YGS stand for?

  • @MissedTheBoat05 it stands for the Youtube series "Your Grammar Sucks" and you were in episode 16 :D

  • @Rynnakokki lolz spelling isn't grammar.... it's spelling

  • @Rynnakokki omg I am HAHAHAHAHAHAAA that whole thing is hilarious!!

  • AHH I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • so beautiful...

  • eh. still not better than Jeff's version.

A bit too 'pop' for my taste. But, not horrible.

  • When die this is what I would like to hear in heaven.

  • this is somehow happier than the original song, which is quite nice, considering hallelujah's a happy sentiment in a way.

  • meh

  • i've always loved this song but they made me like 10 times better!!!

  • This deserves more views!!!

  • i like how on the like/dislike bar there are so many likes you cant even see the unlikes :P

  • Magnifique...

  • i was just listening to random string quartet songs and playing a game but that one just was moving i love that its truly amazing

  • 3 people forgot to turn up the volume!

  • Gah! Pizzing on an open string!!! lol jk

  • i have lepresy, and i find this song offensive to my black sister

  • @12345678nicdeane what the hell?

  • 3 people are deaf.

  • Vitamin String Quartet has the most beautiful tribute songs. This is one of my favorites.

  • I heard this song bathing on the roof. Hallelujah!!

  • i love this :D

the cello is a little... too prominent for my taste, but it works.

  • @wesafree Cellos are never too prominent. They are the superior instrument. :3

  • @RennieBee They are when the conductor is a prissy little person and we're playing pianissississimo and he wants us basically silent -_____-

  • @wesafree You have personally insulted me, :(

  • @oButtonEyeso i'm sorry! :S i think it's not so much that the cello itself, but that the pizzicato is so strong. for me, this has always been a smoother song... here it sounds almost... playful. i don't know, i'm sorry, i fail, don't take it personally, dah!! :(

  • @wesafree I agree with you. I always interpreted the original as a sad song, so this version doesn't seem quite right to me.

  • I LOVE this song, and VSQ does it real justice!

  • SUBLIME! :)

  • Comment removed

  • i would love to be able to sing this song ^^

  • Usually, when I read YouTube comments, I see the typical sorts of petty arguments and feuds. Here, though? I see support and true, heart-felt advice. I'm surprised, YouTube, and a little bit amazed. Keep up the good work.

  • @Queelez Evolution is a lie!

  • @Hyphopopotamus And an invisible magic sky goblin just clicking his fingers and making everything exist is a better explanation?

I won't go into too much detail (as I fear it would frazzle your brain) but there are numerous biological imperfections across ALL species (including man) that point to a total LACK of an intelligent designer being involved.

  • @mrsanity Haha i was actually just making a joke. Youtube arguments never end up changing anybodys opinions about anything so i will not argue back with you although i do have my own opinions, and i DO believe in God, and it seems to me that you believe in Evolution. lets leave it at that

  • @Hyphopopotamus very well said there mate, completely agree with you.

  • @mrsanity few things i want to point out, i know no religion that believes in magical sky goblins. could you be a little more accurate in your references to religious beliefs? lol.

the fact that you even exist and work is proof of design. miniscule blips are nothing compared to the 400+ billion chemical reactions happening every second, that manage to keep you breathing. how can you say there is no order, when you would know nothing of science if it did not have laws? no more characters.

  • whoops, 400+ trillion i mean. =P

  • @apocalypticfurball magical sky goblin is a catch-all term for YHWH, Allah, Zeus, Ra etc etc. I know it is insulting to believers in these deities, but their beliefs are insulting to me so it's fair game.

No design is necessary. If we were designed, why do we have wisdom teeth, a coccyx that occasionally sprouts as a tail when a specific gene malfunctions, an appendix, a ridiculously routed laryngeal nerve etc etc?

  • @mrsanity God has no physicality (only Jesus has). i can't take you seriously when you make fun/insult; you don't sound intellectual, but ignorant.

why are you ignoring the forest and regarding grass blades? i know not why we have those things. if i did know all i'd be YHWH. i chew better with wisdoms than front but that's me.

order is begetted of order. we knoworder exists. always a reason. water flows down because of gravity. you are held together by attraction of electron and protons. etc.

  • @apocalypticfurball There is no proof tthat jesus even existed.. there are NO records of his existence (and the romans who occupied the area were strict record keepers) until 50 or so years after he supposedly died.

We have wisdom teeth as a vestige from when we had longer jaws similar to the other great apes.

We have a coccyx as a remnant of our tail from our pre-ape ancestors.

We have an appendix as a remnant of the caecum from our herbivorous ancestors

    everything is explainable by evolution

  • @mrsanity if you discount the Gospels (Luke penned about 25 years after His death; considering fact that in our current time-keeping system Jesus' conception is central point, wouldn't completion of Luke be 1 A.D. instead of 57?). Have read works of Rome. Common point: all they saved related directly to Roman empire. They didn't much attend the Christians until Rome became Christianity's capitol. Ever think just because we have similarities withother creatures, doesn't mean we came from them?

  • @apocalypticfurball You misunderstand evolution. We share a common ancestor with all creatures, the most recent being the chimp with whom we share 96% of our DNA. The only reason they have more chromosomes than us is because our chromosome2 is a fused double. Whilst there small gaps in the record, it is fairly easy to predict what a fossil human ancestor will look like at a given point for the last 3 million years or so, even if we don't have any preserved remains to work from.

  • @apocalypticfurball The current dating system is based on an ESTIMATE of jesus' birth. If you base the "actual" date on Herod's involvement in the story, you have to go back to at least 4BCE when Herod died, There are thousands of records from the area, and you'd think someone as prominent as jesus would have warranted a mention.. not to mention the dead awakening on the resurrection...

  • @mrsanity history is an estimate,. how can they prove that the date is wrong if they use the system in obtaining this information? the Jews and Herod -when he lived-were all out to erase Jesus from memory. they had Him crucified. they had guards at His tomb to keep the disciples from stealing the Body. they killed and imprisoned His followers. if Jesus had written His own teaching, they would have tried to find and burn it. and the Romans didn't care as long as they Jews were not seditious.

  • @apocalypticfurball The dates regarding Herods rule are derived from Roman records.. and they were meticulous to a fault.. There are NO records outside of christian (therefore subject to bias) sources for any of the claims. Please come back to me when you can find genuine evidence outside of the bible or writings derived solely from study of the bible and I may be willing to change my opinion

  • @mrsanity well sir, you wanted me to cite references written within 25 years after Jesus' crucifixion. tacitus (annals) 15:44. did say Rome didn't note until the Christians became plentiful. Jewish Antiquities by Flavius Josephus (A.D. 37-100 ish), book 18, chapter 3, paragraph 3. most famous references. google it, find about three more from Roman-ish dudes Suetonius, Thallus and Pliny the Younger. pretty sure they are Roman.

random note: humans are biased. find me one and i'll eat my socks.

  • @apocalypticfurball Josephus' writings on jesus are of dubious authenticity, being quite possibly a later christian addition, or are based on 30 year old chinese whispers if they are the words he actually wrote. We don't have the original manuscripts to know for sure either way. I didn't mention 25 years. that's still plenty of time for myths, exaggerations and outright lies to creep into references. ALL references outside of the bible are too long after the fact to be considered sound evidence

  • @apocalypticfurball God is not necessary for the "order" to exist. we exist because the universe follows those particular rules. If the universe followed different rules we'd either not exist or we'd be differently adapted to that universes conditions

  • @mrsanity order comes from chaos? ancient Greek much? =P why would it follow rules if there was naught to set those rules? what keeps the universe from returning to chaos? difference between creationism & evolution: creationism assumes that laws we observe now were always; evolution assumes what can't be quantified. if we see now the universe acting a certain way, it is logical to think that it has always been so. safer calculations. less chance no?

  • @apocalypticfurball The universe is random, but not chaotic, there ios a subtle difference. The universe follows the rules because it has to. As I said, if the rules were different, we'd either be different or not here at all. Evolution is seperate from the laws of the universe, it is merely the process by which organisms adapt to survive most efficiently in their environment. Safer calculations are not the concern, taccurate ones are...

  • @mrsanity may i start from square 1? evolution claims that matter simply was? that the universe exploded into being and it was? no problem with the Big Bang. logical. and it was proposed by a Catholic priest. but i can't understand how organisms formed out of the earth (not even the proper stuff in the earth for the most basic life forms) out of the blue, and the cosmos settled and gravity arrested the planets and all these elements combine randomly. only explanation i know: somebody did it.

  • @apocalypticfurball evolution hs nothing to do with the beginnings of the universe. The current hypothesis I favour is that energy has always existed and a random fluctuation caused the big bang. Abiogenesis is also distinct from evolution, although related. The elements that comprise life are widespread on earth. for the first few billion years of it's existence, the earth was a chemical soup, with a series of reactions occurring eventually resulting in the first nucleotides and then life

  • @mrsanity what proof of this do people have? if energy is constantly being used up how has it always existed? why would it randomy fluctuate? needs external influence. something beyond physicality in order to influence it so.

life is too complex and works too well to simply arise from chemicals. it's certainly contructed from them. but throw wood and nails on the ground and see if the wind will blow them into a box.

^feels like you are telling me that's possible.

  • @apocalypticfurball It is the same concept as "God has always existed and just randomly decided to create teh universe" but without the need for an unimaginably complex being to just happen to exist.

You are majorly misunderstanding the processes and timespan involved. For 2/3 of the time that the earth has existed so far, there was no life, just chemical reactions. Amino acids and lipids ( the basic chemicals of life) can generate from chemical processes independant of life

  • @Queelez and yet...the arguments have since taken over... so much for that it seems.

  • THIS IS PERFECTION.

  • How could ANYONE dislike such a beautiful piece of art? And by that I mean the song all in itself. This is one of the few songs that I know of that can bring grown men to tears and they DISLIKE it?

    ...Shocking.

  • @MrPatrickWaller welcome to youtube. we have no soul.

  • @NEROcpe no those are us Gingers

  • @Kingcobra1211 either there are quite a few gingers on youtube or this myth is BUSTED

  • 3 people are idiots.

  • @krourou well my dad is still around and stuff but he's too busy to sing to me anymore. He's hardly ever home cuz he got a new job where he's away for almost all day. Im so sorry to hear that. my grandfather passed away before i was born and i just lost all my great grandparents last year. that is kinda tragic though.my uncle passed away on my brothers birthday so i know how ya feel.

  • C'est tres beau, et il y a non autre mot pour ca. J'adore!

  • thanks for adding a bit of beauty to my day :) <3

  • my dad used to sing this song with me when i was little. now im older and my eyes started tearing up remembering those memories.

  • @chimi1999

Did he... you know...? If so, I'm so sorry. I lost my grandfather when I was only two, and can barely remember him. What memories I do have, he hasn't a face, as I've long forgotten, and the only thing I have to go by are pictures that don't have that spark of life every person has in their eyes. My great-grandma died three years ago, and my other one died before I was even born. Also, three of my cousin's relatives died on another's birthday. It's tragic, really. T-T

  • So beautiful

  • So beautiful!

  • um, leonard cohen wrote this song

  • @freakyfastreader but jeff buckley's is more iconic. his is the version the modeled this song after

  • EARGASM

  • Simply perfect!

  • I have chills

  • The actual song is awesome but this kicks it out of the way.

    In the ways of awesomeness!

  • This is beautiful..so glad it came up, or I would not have known.

  • beautiful.

  • This WILL be played at my graduation, my wedding and my funeral. <3!

  • the dude who disliked this song did it just to piss us all off x.x there's no way it was a true dislike

  • The person who unlikes this is have issues.

  • my friend loved you guys...may he rip for all time

  • One person is a serial killer

  • This gave me shivers, then made me cry... It's so beautiful

  • My class is singing this for 8th grade graduation :)

  • who gave it a thumbs down???

  • @gruntfan91 yeah, f them

  • @gruntfan91 Someone who was all HEY THIS ISNT ABOUT SEX! But I guess if they don't like it....I don't see how though but...

  • i found my wedding song :D

  • @RoSeY847 You DO realize that this song is about how love only beats you up and lets you down and breaks your heart, right? Might not be the best way to start a marriage.

There's no denying that it's a beautiful song, but lyrical content is kind of important if you're choosing a song that DOES, in fact, have lyrics. Just sayin.

  • @RoSeY847 this song might not be the best for a wedding! it does not put love in a particularly good light!!

  • @mcbeaz Well, no, it doesn't, but that's the point. Love isn't all angelic and perfect--love is caring for the other person enough to stick with them through all the crap they put you through and still loving them anyway. That's kinda what the song is saying, and I really think there isn't a single song in the world better to describe love.

  • @mcbeaz

Love isn't always easy, and even though weddings are fabulous, marriage is tough sometimes. The song has a lot of Bible references about love that is sad or strange, but overall, it's a beautiful and uplifting song with a wonderful melody. "In sickness and in health" means you love all of someone, every day, the good and the bad.

  • i can play most of this on my violin. ^-^ yay, i loveee this song...

  • amazing!

  • They should sell sheet music. I'd want to buy it.

  • i tried playing this on my flute and sax but it dosen't even compare to this

  • When the plucking is happening, the background plucking though....

  • @insayndevilchild I meant to say, it reminds me of Zelda.

  • Reminds me of Watchmen

  • i love this song<3

  • this is a song from Shrek :D

  • @LOLzzzGraMMaW yah my choir sang this song a couple years ago

  • Does anyone have the sheet music to this?! (In string quartet). I've been looking all over, and none seems to be in existence, and not even this wonderful version specifically. D:

  • @JordyKun for violin: You can buy it at a music store. Same for Viola. For Cello and Bass (solo, or in a quartet) gotta buy the parts seperate! Special order online.

  • The most beautiful song ever

  • seriously, this is the most beautiful song ever.

  • they need to cover 'make you happy' by josh pyke

  • ohmygoodness C:

  • this is possibly my favorite vitamin string quartet composition..

  • Will they sell scores for the songs?

  • That would be awesome!
