I actually really love this scene. And this might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm glad she didn't open up the door sooner. I think we're all pretty sure what could have happened if he hadn't left, but I don't think it was the right time for them. Kate was still with Josh and had just lost Royce. This scene is very powerful and moving. Now, that's not to say I don't want them together, I want them together ASAP, I just don't think this was the right moment.

But had Kate given in knowing she had a boyfriend it would have set a bad impression. Afterwards they would have felt awkward. Seeing that she was disappointed proved that she is in fact in love with him. And in order for them to really be in a relationship it has to feel right. Their sexual tension is dead on.

The EN-TI-RE show is just like the scene: when one of them just start to believe in, the other one has a wrong word and/or is in a relationship and/or is in a bad mood or anything else that deceive the first and makes him/her run away...

I died when this scene ended as it did, like most. I say it's a good thing Castle left when he did, like most. It's like he KNEW she was going to come back out, but he also knew the state she was in-- her vulnerability, and helped her maintain her keep.
He MUST'VE heard her opening her door again just as he was just closing his. Not like those doors are quiet.
She should know how he feels given the time she left to when he left. But we ALL know how he feels, though, don't we? ;)
You know, everyone keeps complaining about how Castle should've been standing there when she opened the door.

Beckett actually gave in to her emotions and decided to open the door to go and see him again. And i that the fact that he wasn't there anymore confirmed her feelings for him. She was so disappointed.

I honestly HATE this scene! I thought she would touch the door but then change her mind. But she actually went in!!! So annoyed by Castle, damnit:p And I hate to say it, but its true; the more we wait, the more excited we will be when they end up together :) Can't wait!

I'm just watching the first season and it is a little weird to see how the interaction between them is so different now. But I love how their relationship depveloped. And I think that she's so scared to loose people (first her mother en now Royce). She lost the ones she loved and then there's Castle. So, to live and maybe loose another one or not to live, keep your her heart save en never be loved...... Such a dilemma....

You know, everyone keeps complaining about how Castle should've been standing there when she opened the door.
But they are missing the whole point of this moment.
Beckett actually gave in to her emotions and decided to open the door to go and see him again. And i that the fact that he wasn't there anymore confirmed her feelings for him. She was so disappointed.

Oh God, I've seen the episode (more than once), and even knowing how it'll end (and, come on, we knew how it would end even before seeing the whole thing) it's still almost heart attack inducing. The music singing "Come and find me now" on the background doesn't help to the heartbeat rate either, lol. A personal season favorite, no doubt.

I honestly HATE this scene! I thought she would touch the door but then change her mind. But she actually went in!!! So annoyed by Castle, damnit:p And I hate to say it, but its true; the more we wait, the more excited we will be when they end up together :) Can't wait!

I'm just watching the first season and it is a little weird to see how the interaction between them is so different now. But I love how their relationship depveloped. Hopefully they take the next step in the next season otherwise it would get silly to find more excuses why they are still not admitting or devote to their feelings although everybody knows and they know that everybody knows

@KB612503 Yeah, there's Josh, but I think what's more important is that Kate is scared. She's scared to dive in because she knows that her relationship with Castle is real. And I think that she's so scared to loose people (first her mother en now Royce). She lost the ones she loved and then there's Castle. So, to live and maybe loose another one or not to live, keep your her heart save en never be loved...... Such a dilemma....
