Great film, just watched it. It manages to be fun and seriously satirical at the same time. Most intelligent film I've seen in the "spy spoof" mold, it completely transcends the genre. Also makes a great companion film with Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round, another Coburn film from the same era that didn't do well but showed he had an eye for genuinely interesting, if not commercial, scripts.
I consider this to be the most important film of the 20th Century. Yes, precisely. It is the one film that clearly defines the true underlying motivating factor in all of civilized activity: paranoia.
"The President's Analyst" is one of the three best comedies to ever come out during the 1960's (the other two are "The Wrong Box" and "Bedazzled"; which incidently is on the related videos window!) and next to "Blow Up"-the movie that changed my life. This is one of the two best previews during the decade (the other is the Ingmar Bergman film "Persona") and it's a shock as to why James Coburn wasn't nominated for a Best Actor Oscar that year. Spencer Tracy? Please. Needs to be on DVD again.
@EricandDish I have it on DVD (it's on Amazon now, go take a look), VHS, *and* laser disk. And I don't even have a laser disk player. That's how much I love this film. If it were available on Bluray I'd have that too. You can't have enough copies of this film. If they confiscate one, you'll always have a backup. What? Who's paranoid? You can't be too paranoid these days.
One of the most hilarious movies ever made!

To fully appreciate just how fucked-up our society is, you must see this film and "Wrong is Right".

This is a great movie and should be more easily available on dvd.
It is regrettable that a remake is being considered. There's no way it can be as good as the original,
