Amazing to read these comments and immediately tell who's worked with liquid nitrogen in the past and those who don't have a clue or just need to be educated on the substance. LN2 can be safely used if you take the same precautions that you would for handling any other extremely cold liquid PLUS a little common sense!
@tgseason12 No he wouldn't, it's the same principal as dipping your hand in liquid nitrogen. Very easy and painless if done fast. If the guy slipped, he would of gotten out of it fast enough that it wouldn't do more then get frost on his face.
@rapeasaurus1 More worried that with his head near the surface of the water, he's breathing a higher concentration of nitrogen and much less O2 than normal air. (actually, I wonder what the volume of the nitrogen in the bowl was versus the volume of that space. Clearly it didn't knock anyone out, but that's one of the risks of liquid nitrogen..)
@rapeasaurus1 He swam through it after its been mixed with the water and its extreme cold has been dissipated through induction. If he had slipped and that splashed over his face, he would either be dead or horribly disfigured.
@tgseason12 I got liquid nitrogen poured on my hand in chemistry class as part of a demonstration. My hand was fine. That was because of the huge difference in temperature. So his injuries would probably be minor.
@Grivahri only problem is that the leidenfrost effect only works for a very little amount of time, soit being poured on your hand would only last a very short amount of time, if his face landed in it, not only would a portion be possibly submerged in it, but gravity would be against him in getting his face out of it, possibly leading to very severe burns, but most likely not death...
if it was a real pool of liquid nitrogen the person would freeze but it only hit the top which was probably warmer then the liquid nitrogen so it didn't freeze her
@RBkidd510 sounded like a woman said it and that they were serious but i didn't really take time to analyze what they said because well honestly i didn't want to hear it again but also people can be that stupid not saying this person was now that you say they were joking but yea
if you swam in this pool and swallowed some of the water would it be at all toxic? I mean I know clorene isnt good for you but ive always swallowed a bit every time i go swimming. also lets say the entire estimated like 15,000 gallon pool is 78* ferh would the pools temperature change much? Im fascinated by weird stuff like this lol. thanks for anyone who has the balls / time to answer ;O
@knaxon In a swimming pool the amount of chlorine is quite low and therefor not really toxic - think of it: Even salt has chlorine, your stomache acid is a liquid also containing chlorine ions. And so on.... And throwing nitrogen in this pool causes nothing but an intersting picture to look at. Around 78 percent of the air you breeth contains nitrogen. The nitrogen even won't get dissolved in the water.
@iRainSunshinee nope, the liquid nitrogen only scattered on the surface of the water, it didn't sink into it. If it did, you would see the water being turned to ice.
@gamegirl579 The temperature difference between the nitrogen and the water/human tissue is so large that the nitrogen close to the water/human body will evaporate rapidly creating an "air pillow" inbetween. This makes it possible to actually put your hands in liquid nitrogen for a few seconds without consequences. BUT ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS!
Have you ever seen a droplet of water on a hotplate? This works the same.. The droplet will float on the hotplate not touching it.
hey everybody PLEASE come check out my creative video's .. i spend a great deal of time on them and get very low views.. be sure to watch (SEEDS) and (SOFTLY CONFINED) and much more. thanks! :)
If this clown had spilled this stuff on his feet, his skin would have become like a glass slipper.
At that point he would have probably stumbled and planted his face in the brew of N2 - the video would have gone viral and his face would have just gone.
@xxxcatxxxx If you look at a water molecule (as an example), it has partial charges that attract other water molecules and help keep them together, so it's liquid at room temp. Nitrogen's structure causes it to not "stick together" as well, so it's a gas at room temp. In order to make it liquid, you have to make it very cold, which slows down the molecules and compresses them. See all of the fog above it in the video? That's it turning back into gas..kinda like when water steams. :)
You're not supposed to wear safety material while working with liquid nitrogen
If liquid nitrogen were to get on clothing or any sort of fiber it'll leak through it and burn your skin where as if it splashed on you it'd immediately dissipate you can in fact submerge your hand in it if you wanted to but long exposure would be VERY BAD
Guy #! Hey look liquid nitrogen!! it would frostbite the skin off of you and intoxicate you at high concentrations. Lets wear sandals, t shirts and swim in a pool full of it.
Guy #2: Dude you are a genius !! *jumps in*
That my children was Darwin's laws at work. Morons deserve to die.
Do you even know much energy it would take for the pool to actually become as cold as the liquid nitrogen though it would freeze before it reached the same temperature as the nitro
ummm.... it was faked somehow no gloves a towel to hold a metal pan of liquid nitro would not of helped and the fool jumped in it and came up moving in 1 piece
In Florida, in a town called Kissimmee, the use nitrogen to make ice cream. The store is currently called Boola. Have you ever tried ice cream with actual pieces of fruit, chocolate or even coffee in it? Not to mention the marshmallow, Oreo cookies, and cinnamon.
