He says "Better take a look around before you say you don't care, shut your fucking mouth about the length of the my hair! How would you survive, if you were alive? Shitty little person!"
@Django5198 Frank actually addressed that rumor at the beginning of The REAL Frank Zappa Book. He says it's not true in any way. He also shrugged off variations of the rumor featuring Alice Cooper.
INTENTIONAL. "Better look around before you say you don't care, Shut your f***ing mouth about the length of my hair, how would you survive if you were alive shitty little person". It's from mother people. The record company at the time edited it out, AND editing out "fucking" before they reversed it. then, they put it on the end of hot poop becasue they're fuckin assholes. it actually says on the record something to the effect of "the real verse tht belongs here was edited because theyre afraid"
@FZmustacheFZ In the lyrics it says "(the verse that really goes here has been censored out & recorded backwards in a special section at the end of side one . . .)". That they were afraid is obvious.
Love this album, i like the version of Mother People without this cut and reversed part in.
"He is working the controls, because all ******* love to turn knobs. They think it is a way they can create. I wonder what everyone else is whispering about?" I can't quite make out what he is saying. is it dersers or is it tossers that has been cencored?
This was a cut made due to censorship. There are some poor quality rips of the original uncensored version of WOIIFTM currently in circulation which feature this line in its original place on the track "Mother People."
There is, or there used to be, a piece of Mothers footage on YouTube with an intact and decent quality version of Mother People on it, I'm not sure if it's been taken down by WMG though, they own Ryko and as such are in charge of copyright for almost all pre-1994 Zappa material.
There was an LP version I once had on tape, with this original recording forwards. Also, with an uptempo version of "Let's make the water turn black".
Zappa released a remixed version of WOIIFTM, with the entact "shutyerfuckin'mouth'boutthelengthofmyhair" part from "Mother People", and the "dontcuminmeinme" part of "Harry Your a Beast" , plus a different mix of "Idiot Bastard Son". Alot of fans didnt like the remixed version, but I thought it was better. It was a cd with "We're Only In It" and "Lumpy Gravy" together, 2for 1.
No, it was Rykodisc, released in '86, as a 2-fer with Lumpy Gravy. You can google the title (both album titles together with a backslash between them) and find some info and reviews, largely negative, about it. I think they're still available to buy. I actually prefer the remixed version, but I guess I can see why those who grew up with the original would be upset. Some of the songs are changed dramatically. He didnt tell R Estrada and the others that he was re-doing the bass and drums.
@skankspankr The "official" reason given was that the oxide from the tape on which the drums and bass were recorded was damaged. I believe this was done on an 8-track, so 1/2" tape for the masters. If the drums and bass were on tracks 1 and 8 (edges of tape) or if they had both been bounced together to either track 1 or track 8, I can see how there may have been some damage, but it seems like there would have been SOME damage to adjacent tracks (2 or 7) as well. I hated the '86 version, FWIW.
better look around before you say you dont care. shut your fucking mouth about the lenght of my hair. how would you survie, if you were alive. shitty litle person.
Yeah, you can read at various Zappa sites just how much the album was censored when it first appeared. It's a shame; I would love to hear an original mix of the entire album uncensored.
Okay, I have to know: is it just me hearing things or does anybody else hear Zappa say, right after the uncensored verse, "Oh, man. You should listen to this song over and over and over." Hahaha.
Oh man, the reversed version of this song scares me.
"Better look around before you say you don't care. Shut your fucking mouth 'bout the length of my hair. How would you survive if you were alive, shitty little person?"
Nice one, thanks for that, ive always wondered what that said. Don't suppose you have the technology/can be arsed to do the backwards bit on the hidden track at the end of the albm; "Stereopathetic soul manure" by Beck? That's another one i've always wondered about.
Odd. It's still censored?!

MY GOD! I LOVE ZAPPA!
Let me get this straight, because there is a skip in it, i think it says:
Take a look around before you say you don't care,
Shut your fucking mouth about the length of my hair
How would you survive
If you were alive
Shitty little person
Absolutely genius if that's what i'm hearing, love you Zappa

That was intentional. He couldn't put that verse in one of his songs, so he took that verse, reversed it, and made it into a song.
