  • I carry one in my back right pocket. Once you get used to sitting on a chunk of metal its awesome. lol

  • @RENOGUY777 hah Sound comfortable

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie Why would you get looks for carrying a knife in a sheath? It's not like it's a gun. Alot of people carry knives on their belt for their job.

  • @VideoGameFallout It just depends on where you are and the social attitudes.

  • The Buck 110 is a great knife. I carry a Case Peanut for EDC, but anytime I head into the woods, I'll have the Buck 110 on my belt. Or since I always wear Wranglers whitch are a sort of tight, I'll just stick the knife in my back pocket next to my wallet. Modern knives are overrated. Who needs tactical stuff? Pretty much the whole knife industry is focused on tactical bullshit..... It's a damn shame.

  • Only a pussy could not edc this knife, and how the fuck are newer knives better???You clearly stated they prob. won't be around in 30+ years like the110!Oldskool all the way!!

  • 55€ in finland

  • @MahanHalkoja expensive

  • Bolsters scratch because of the crappy packaging. The wiggle when closed is typical 110 but means nothing as it locks open solid. The 110 has been known to be a durable and dependable performer by millions of users over the years. Not because it's a lightweight, sexy edc but an affordable workhorse that speaks of the traditional woodsman spirit. No, I'm not carrying it on my belt when dressed for work in slacks but when I plan a visit to the bush it comes along. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  • I bought the 110 at a pawn shop and paid $16 the next day I took the 110 to Buck in Post Falls Idaho. The blade was badly dull, and the brass was tarnished. the warranty department sharpen the blade to the best they can but it was badly altered. I chose to keep the original blade on. and they polished the brass. when it was done it looked like almost brand new. the wood was in excellent condition. There was no date code stamped on, the knife was produced between '73 to '75. Around 38 years old

  • This knife is less threatening than the "tacticool" black blades, its more useful. I dont see how the technology is dated, if it aint broke, dont fix it.

  • Im moving out to the country soon. Ive never had a real hunting knife. I was looking and this one caught my eye. Would it be worth buying for a first knife?

  • @DanielJTeichroew For a good priced knife the Buck119, wal mart $40. it is a fixed blade 6" length. One of Buck's oldest knives still being in production

  • @DanielJTeichroew yep, this knife would be great for a hunting knife. Also check out the Buck 119 Special for a decent hunting knife. I carry the 110 hunting all the time and it works great. Also check out Case knives, they make excellent pocket knives. Also, stop by bladeforums(.)com and look in the traditional section, there's alot of cool stuff in there

  • iv seen these for $29bucks at walmart, then $79 at Bassproshop. is there any diffrence?

  • @project510 prob not, but check the differences in steel.

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie people don't normally give you weird looks when you carry knives, for a very good reason

  • @honda1296 I'm not familiar with the old timer, but I see that as a different type of knife. Locking blade versus a slipjoint.

  • I carry my 110 every day to work in its sheith.

  • @hustleandsnow awesome

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie Your right it is...

  • I agree, it's a heavy S.O.B., but mine has outlasted 9 other hunting knives over the past 20 years. For EDC I use the Buck 55...much smaller and lighter, but for the woods I still dig this 110. Great vid, and very smart review...many thanks.

  • The blade will tighten up if you put it in a padded vice and press it together some. I got it a lot more firmer in the handle. Mine had a gap between the brass liners that was fairly large.

    nice video, very informative.

  • Does the blade wiggle?

  • @irulemuch oops, nevermind!

  • well i think is a great knife.and i have no problem carrying it as edc.

  • buck will replace the blades for like 10 bucks and clean them up. i did it to years ago and got it back pretty quick. i have used it alot and its still hair shaving sharp and i havent retouched it at all

  • @leatherwerewolf i. Agree only someone who hates it

  • where did you buy it?

  • great knife, good for edc if you dont mind weight, meant for the belt though not the pocket, the 112 is good for if you need to save weight. Great to pair with a smaller pocket knife for edc but it's a matter of prefference, not tactical by modern standars but there was a guy in my area that faught off a cougar with his, and you can get thumb studs that attach to the blade if you like.

  • "I think there's a whole lot better knives out there... for the same price... ummm... and alot more updated, using better materials. Uhhh, they may not last 30 years like this one might, but ummm, ya know I think that's a good trade-off, to have a more lightweight knife."

So, you're saying lightweight materials that don't last very long are better, because they weigh less and are disposable... for the same money. So Bic razors should cost the same as high quality straight razor... hmmm.

  • This Buck is a 1 handed opening knife. I guess if you have been handicapped by only using knives with thumb knobs, you would be incapable of doing it though. Ask an Old Timer. They will whip that knife open with one hand every time. They can probably use the knife better as well.

From the pristine condition of your other two knives, I highly doubt that you have cut more than paper with them.

After the Bowie, the 110 is the most influential American Knife ever.

  • i like most of your reviews but i do think this one was kind of unfair this knife for years was the most widely used pocket knives in history so it obviously got something right and im not getting why you have an issue with the blade moving when its closed thats not a problem as long as the deployed lock up is fine and i mean if all you ever use is newer style knives which i do have many of you get a very one sided view when you pick on of these up yes one handed opening is nice but not needed

  • mines doesnt wiggle when closed :p

  • A couple of comments on your negative comments about the knife: The Brass bolsters will always "smudge," but more accurately, oxidize. You can either let them go, for a nice patina, or constantly polish -- your choice. The blade play when closed is a design characteristic. As the blade opens, there is a slight taper in the gap between the liners which pinches the blade tightly when open, but letting it swing closed freely. That's why it works so sweetly :)

  • keep in mind this it not a combat knife it is a hunting knife it was not made for fighting or quick opening

  • "Beast"?!?! the 110 is a mid sized pocket knife, not a hunting knife. and it is a very good edc knife. i've had one(the same one) in my pocket every day since i was ten, and i've never had any problems with the weight, or functionality. the steel on the new ones is kind of soft(mine is from the 60's), but still holds an edge for well over a month unless it is misused. best pocket knife a person could get.

  • I carry a Buck 110 made in the early 1970s. Every day. In trousers or basketball shorts, no sheath needed. The blade has lost some of its original shape but it's still in marvelous condition. It's not to be taken as a pocket knife, rather, it's a folding hunting knife. Only needs to be sharpened once every month or so. The brass patinas very easily, it's not dirty, thats what brass does. The blade wiggles because it's not locked. This has to be the most solid folding knife I've ever see.

  • would you consider sending me the sheath if you dont like it? and its for collection anyway so you wouldnt really need a sheath.

  • I personally thought this was a great Knife until its tip broke off after i stabbed it in some wood to and when i went to grab it the tip broke idk the Blade seems way to Soft for a knife and too heavy for edc

  • those are fine edc knives! there was a man years ago around where I live that fought off an attacking cougar with one, worked fine for him. (probably clubbed it to death lol). Great tool either way, but this is coming from a guy that edc's slippies so..take it for what its worth.

  • It is a heavy knife but mines been in the family for like 25 or 26 years. I love it and my pops gave it to me. Buck will even replace the blade for like 10 bucks and they clean and wax the wood and polish the brass. its like a new knife. so they will last you for like 100 years or more

  • I meant to say that this knife opens with two hands.

  • I bought this because I am going to Germany. I like tactical folders more but there not legal to carry over there. This one is legal because it is a hunting knife and it needs to be opened with one hand. Germany has very strange knife laws over there. The knife in its sheath looks like I am carrying a multi tool. To each his own.

  • Why would you not recommend this for an EDC knife?

  • Its a brick to carry around in your pants. If you don't mind using a sheath daily and don't 'mind a slower opening mechanism then its okay for edc. It wouldn't be practical for an urban area.

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie When you say "practical for an urban area" do you mean self defence? I can't imagine any other uses where you need to deploy a blade quickly other than self defence.

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie i dont mind, im used to carrying around about a pound a day in my pockets, but im keepin my edc to my sog flash 2 until i get a good auto preferrably an otf

  • man im carrying it right now and i cant even feel it. its heavy and tough and i can open it one handed safely. i have a spyderco endura stainless handle and a cold steel american lawman full size and i can open those just as fast. i think we are so spoiled my modern knives to be honest. just my two cents man. happy new years brother

  • @MrTech40 i use it as edc cos i love it i dont need modern cosmic knives i had some and used them but this is best knife for me needs.o and its great hummer when you need one for some reason;)

  • the brass comes very polished, its not about quality control, its just very sencitive even if u just put the knife on the leather sheath it scratches the brass a little, the handle itself is made of brass other then the wooden handles and the mechanism inside, its one of my favorite knives, i dont like the leather sheath too much eighter, its too tough and its not easy to put the knife in it, but the nylon sheath is pretty good, i have 2, 1 for collection propouses and the other as a buddy knife

  • 7.2 ounces is a beast? Dude their not that heavy. Its a hunter knife- their supposed to be heavier than those plastic Chinese models.

  • its very heavy for what it is.

  • the 110 is a beauty and not such a big deal to carry in your jeans for EDC, old-school knives are refreshing from the endless tactical style knives of which I have plenty but sometimes EDC calls for something more traditional.

  • Now that is a Big Bertha! I kind of want one just for sentimental and collector's reasons, but that is a heavy beast that i would never EDC.

  • Great Video! I have this knife also, just to collect. I agree it's a part of American History. Everyone should have this knife in their collection. Very nice quality video!

  • it is a classic my brother has one there nice

  • i bought one for the same reason. for collection

  • @ 7:45 You said Paramilitary but it is the Military.

  • whoops sorry if I did. tired and with a cold when I did this one.

  • As buck likes to say "The world's most copied knife." I also own one and never use it. I imagine that as a hunting knife, with the extra weight and very clipped blade, it functions very well.

  • As said above, you can get it in S30V from the custom shop, in addition to nickel silver bolsters, and a variety of handle materials, all the way upwards of $500 knife. Here in CO I could wear that on my belt and never get a crossed look lol. I still see people with the 110 on their belt!

  • like SAK's for some reaons people are not intimidated by classic knives, even these larger buck knives...

  • Seems to remind people of their father's and grampa's old knives... Wonder how long we will have to wait before our benchmades and spydercos are non-threatening american classics?

  • @deerhunterp once a new trend or style in knives comes out. At one point this knife was very trendy, just like today's trendy models.

  • Also I think its because the 110 was the very first lock back knife, and the most copied knife design ever, that may be why its so popular.

  • You can get it from Cabelas with S30V, or Bass Pro with 154 CPM. I don't think people would look twice at you carrying a 110 in the belt sheath either, especially the leather sheath.

  • Some stores have the blade in S30V

  • Those are the Buck Customs from their shop. You used to be able to get them in a lot of different steels, but now it seems only S30V is offered. It changes from time to time, I remember them offering BG42 at one time.

  • Oh, and 154CM, which I still think they offer on their Alpha Hunter.

  • The American Classic
