  • He really looks like Elvis.. I mean he could really be his brother in my eyes.. Very interesting.

  • Who was doing the introduction-he's cute

  • @pillroller88 your joking right?? it's Paul McCartney.

  • @rontenn If it was just a figure of speech then Proby doesn't have a point does he? Who is the everybody who has watched those videos and knows he didn't mean what he said?

Talking to me like I'm an idiot for not understanding what PJ Proby REALLY means looks REALLY good coming from somebody who is OBVIOUSLY part of his promotion staff. Maybe he's picked up a few new fans by reading your insulting comments NOT!!!

  • I bet if this aired in the States we thought he was lipsyncing Rufus Thomas or made his living doing voice impressions. It looks like he was doing OK in England so I suppose people there have more respect for acts like this than Americans do. Usually we rank this kind of thing as an imitation and only second rate at best. If PJ Proby tried to palm this off as his own voice he was DOA in the States. Aerosmith and Jackie Shane knew how to cover Walking the Dog and not copy Thomas.

  • This clip defines charisma....and boy is he a versatile singer...and he is having a gas doing it. Vernon Girls are fun to boot....all I ever heard til youtube was the maginificent Mission Bell. Come play some shows in NZ please PJ...

  • Crikey. I can remember seeing this on the television (Gulp).

  • The Beatles were probably thinking

'What have we done'? 'This guy is

    better than us'.

  • @texasprobyan Better at what? The Beatles weren't trying to imitate Rufus Thomas and Lonnie Donegan like Proby was so they didn't have anything to worry about did they? By 1972 the Beatles had sold over a half billion records worldwide. PJ Proby never sold enough records anywhere to make the slightest dent in Beatles record sales.

  • @JudicialError It was not my intention to offend anyone with my comment. And I would like to appoligize to you if I did. If you judge talent by record sales, the Beatles win hands down. But I personally like P.J. better & think he is more talented. I respect your opinion and I like the Beatles, too. Peace !

  • @texasprobyan I wasn't judging talent. I disagreed that the Beatles probably thought Proby was better than they were since they weren't trying to be great vocalists. Proby wasn't better on a musical instrument or at song writing and he showed little aptitude for either. You may prefer his voice but the world preferred listening to the MUSIC the Beatles produced over Proby's voice and still does. Pop music hasn't been dominated by great solo singers since the fifties. Peace.

  • @JudicialError You know what? I shouldn't have made that comment. It was just the first thought that came to my mind when i watched the video. But it was my thought, not the Beatles.I don't have a clue what they were thinking that day. I hope you will excuse my comment , and Happy listening to ALL music lover's. PEACE.

  • This is STUNNING! I'm doing BACKFLIPS over this keyboard! THANKS OR SHARING! YIKES

  • @rockabillydj Thanks for watching. Yeah, it's a FAB performance in every way ...

  • @rockabillydj P.J. was so unique. This performance is magic now....imagine what people thought of it in 1964!No wonder he became an overnight star & the best thing of all is that he's still touring & making CD's & his voice is probably better now than ever!!

  • @rontenn >>> This is absolutely KILLER! Cumberland Gap, is the absolutely best rock version ever recorded hands down! MAGNIFICENT! Better then Dickie Bishop, & Lonnie Donegan! ABSOLUTELY LOVE PJ PROBY!

  • P.J. looking real good walking the dog...

  • FABULOUS

  • Thanks for posting this - it sure takes me back! I think I was about 14 when this cam eout, and I thought PJ Proby was terrific -shame his split pants ruined his career!

  • Nowadays, it'll take A LOT MORE than splitting your pants to ruin your career .... LOL!

    Thanks for watching ... :-)

  • @tunenito As P.J. says " You don't get paid these days unless you come on stage half nekkid!" He's right & his career was spoilt in 1965 by the Victorian reaction of certain people at seeing a bare thigh!!! Still eventually he got back on track & he's still around singing better than ever!

  • @rontenn In one of the "Three Week Hero" documentary videos (in 2 Parts on youtube) you can hear PJ Proby say "half of everybody that goes on stage nowadays if they don't go on nude they don't even get paid". I can't imagine where he goes for entertainment because I've never been to a concert where a male singer performed nude on stage.

  • @oldtowntonight He's mentioned that topic several times in different interviews. Obviously he did not mean completely nude !!! It was a figure of speech & everyone seems to understand what he meant except you!!

  • Yup! this is what started the ball rolling for P.J...April 1964. FORTY SIX YEARS later The Legend is still going strong!!! Ron

  • Thats my man...

  • I must have been born in victorian times as a 53yr old woman i find yr language totally unacceptable, shame on you young lady,my daughter is 14 and would never use language like yours.

  • What a sexually charged performance! Now I know why he was considered controversial in the 60s. I'm sure all the teenage girls swooned over him

  • There's no doubt in my mind, P.J. Proby is the Best Singer Ever.

    Rock On P.J.

  • can the so called best elvis stop sending filthy perverted messages to my private e mail, you are sick in the head,

  • It's possible to block messages coming to your Inbox, you know...

  • pj proby is in fact elvis presleys half brother. the media hushed it all up for the sake of elvis`s career and vernons reputation.

  • u pathetic sang lowlife with language like that. well at least it proves my theory that you are a bit brain dead to believe a made up trash story like that thats been made up in some naff newspapers thats short on gossip.

    LIKE I SAID..PROVE IT ??? IDIOT LOL.

  • Proby is still knockin them dead with his powerful voice, singers are born not made.

  • Excellent. What a voice and style !! Walkin' the Dog was the first song I remember PJ singing in the sixties. One of many happy memories of that fantastic decade. Thanks for posting this.

  • What a goodlooking guy.He still has that look in his eyes. The eyes are a mirror to the soul.

  • In Sweden , about -65 , dis guy made all the chicks crazy , and leave their husbands . Must have hundreds of kids in this cuntry ...

Although a ( straight ) guy it was fun watchin dis clip .

Wonder why some dudes have it all ?

  • No other male singer can hold a candle to Proby. He is still singing and the audiences are getting younger.

  • AMAZING ! He´s like from ...outer space .And some voice !

  • pj could try blakes publishers for his book.

  • anyone got a video to post of him singing 'Hold me'

  • it`s now been posted on youtube

  • cant wait to see him in blackpool again.

  • Thanks for posting this, brilliant stuff. It just shows the versatility he has, he can sing a number like this then go straight into a beautiful ballad, the man is amazing, his voice is like a musical instrument.

In answer to lYDIA, Jim has written his life story but sadly he can't find anyone to back him to get it published, its a crying shame.

  • i hope pj writes his lifestory, it will make for good reading.

  • HE IS SO HANDSOME

  • WHEN IS PJP COMING BACK TO BLACKPOOL

  • Probably next year now but he`s booked for 5 gigs between Sept 16th and Oct 26th `07 if that`s any help.
