Nowadays you are really something special if your a "triple threat" but back then if was just expected. Sinatra is a singer, actor, and comedian & among other things.
@wackyrachel Certainly there was a respect for music as an art form present in that day and time even if many of the people involved in making it might have been personally classless at times (including Mr.Sinatra). There was a degree of professionalism and an approach to music that I haven't seen or better yet HEARD since.
@wackyrachel You are perceptive and wise... I miss Frank a lot..I was lucky and saw him twice first in early 90's and he blew us away. I could not believe I was in the same room as Sinatra and he and his orchestra were playing live for me! He is my hero
This was our wedding song 25 years ago.. We didn't pick the popular wedding songs of the day but wanted one that we could believe in. I was a widower with a young son after 25 years I can say the song still rings true.
@royoce1, I believe that Billie Holliday recorded "All the Way" only in 1959. Perhaps your reference to a 1946 rendition is connected to one of her many recordings of "All of Me" instead?
@pmbyou09 Yep, you are correct. I somehow confused Billie's version of "All of Me" recorded in 1946, I believe in LA at the Embassy Theatre. This was pre Ben Webster days. I think that Lester Young was on tenor sax during that period. It is unfortunate that the 1959 session was about 4 months before Billie passed away.
Frank Sinatra had class in his music and his style of dress. I follow both. It is so unfortuante that a lot of young women I came across never appreciate the class I have with my style of dress. I mean young 20 somethings and those in their early 30's especially the pretty-faced ones. They don't appreciate a man with class in this style of menswear.
this song reminds me of my parents (both are now gone) they had the most devoted love for each other. they loved each other all the way both between the good and the bad - never giving up on each other. lost my father in 1995 and my mom in 2007. i miss you both but will see you again.
@MrPrender82 No, I'm sorry. My dark sense of humor comes out when other people openly share extremely personal feelings. I don't want to be reminded of sadness. I mean, that's why I listen to Frank--to forget about the world even for just a few minutes.
What made Frankso good is that he understood music and knew what to do with it.Unlike today's singers, he always had a pleasant expression o his face, where many of the modern singers look like they're in pain agony and look like they are trying to swallow the mike rather than sing into it.
Maybe the most beautiful love song ever!! Sinatra at his best. By the way...Sinatra wasn't very religious but wasn't an athiest!(Not that it matters) Truly a great song and performance!!
As strong an interpretation of a song as one could possibly produce. It is simply phenomenal in its emotional depth and sonic breadth, something that 99% of songs are NOT.
Consider yourself lucky to know this song and always hold it in your heart for those times when you need it.
I'm 17 years old, have loved Frank's and all the classics The Beatles, Mozart and have been a strong advocate of all these modern day music "artists" have a seat and listen to the majesty of Frank's voice and learn a thing or two! So many of these rappers and the rest of the commercial crap have no idea how to sing or just be classy without incorporating inane amounts of sex, sex, sex. Thumbs up if you agree.
Reply to "TheSonyVaio94" ~ Thank you, you made my day worthwhile, it is so refreshing to read young people's comments such as yours, you simply proved there is hope, always remember : Life IS beautiful, and these kind of songs only help to remind us we all have a purpose in life. It's great you enjoy them and I wish you all the best in your endeavors. Actually, later groups such as Westlife refreshed some of those melodies, and with great talent may I add
BEEN AROUND FOR 70+ YEARS AND WILL NEVER GET OVER THE FACT THAT EVERY GENERATION THAT COMES ALONG, THINKS THEY INVENTED MUSIC AND SEX, WELL BOTH ARE OLDER THAN US ALL, AND AS WE LEARN AND EXPAND, THEY JUST GET BETTER AND MORE VARIED WITH AGE. TRUST ME, THE BEST IS YET TO COME
@looknback2340 I wish I was as optimistic about the state of music as you are, but personally I haven't heard anything in the past 40 years that even comes close to this and this, as good as it is and it's great, wasn't Sinatra at his best to me.
@Nocaro The problem with that is that those who incorporate the past with a modern flavor, will never hit the mainstream.. Modern quality artists are truly diamonds in the rough, waiting to be discovered in order to shine.
@bahhhmeran One could today have a marvelous voice right there with the best of them, but if you don't have any new music to sing then it's for naught. The art of songwriting has died and has been dead for many, many years. I haven't heard a single, original, distinctive MELODY in the past 30 or so years that compares in quality to a thousand I heard just in the 60's much less the years before that.
I'm sorry you feel that way. While it's certainly true that music is much different than it has been in the past, there are plenty of artists, even some in the mainstream (though generally not), with just as much ingenuity and brilliance as the artists of the past. Of course, there will never be another Sinatra, but that's the way it should be.
I think all artistic movements have their Golden Age. I pretty much stopped listening to new music past the 80s, in English anyway. I'm wondering if the golden age of electrically-amplified popular music has passed. Don't get me wrong, there will still be good songs written. I'm just wondering about the uniqueness of the music itself. For example, orchestrated pop music with jazz chords like Sinatra, synth-based pop music such as Depeche Mode, blues/folk-based rock like Led Zeppelin etc
@Nocaro Thats just not true, I could think of hundreds of examples from the 70s, 80s, and yes even the 90s and 2000s. You just gotta find the good ones.
.LOL, music is a very subjective area, but since you seem to think there are "hundreds" out there, give me an example of what you think is an "original and distinctive" melody, one that you could hum and most people could identify without the lyrics written after 1980. I can think of maybe a dozen, but there were that many being written every week during the 1960's and before.
@Nocaro That's because it's the final days. See the movie The 7th Sign and the dead Kentucky Derby horses predicted in the Revelations Book of the Bible. The slaughtered mustangs are the next to final sign. I wash my hands of Washington's innocence. Then watch the movie Earthlings narrated by Joaquin Phoenix who says animal-cruel humans will reap what they sow. Then look up the Phoenix UFO sightings on youtube. Then listen to By The Time I Get To Phoenix.
@Nocaro Somebody decides what to present us with. I see comments on youtube from young people and they often say things like "OH this was when they had music," which looks like they would prefer something else to rap crap,
@looknback2340 i'm 45, came around to Frank in the early 90's but from it felt like home from jump. i put on these tracks , mostly the Capitol years, and i get it all, or maybe i just think i do. who cares, this is a meeting of all the best that music has to offer. maybe it will come around again and that will be great. if not then we have this forever and that is just fine with me.
@looknback2340 Who are the "They" in "they just get better & more varied with age?" If the best is yet to come (on this earth), I fear it! We have spiraled into such moral depravity - hopefully that's not what you meant by "as we learn, we expand". We want to fill this vacuous hole in our soul with endless sexual relationships, only to leave us dry & depraved. Yeah, sex & music is older than all of us, but only Jesus can fill that hole.
@thetruthis24 I always love the encouragement I get from the atheists! Ok, every thing we see, hear , touch & know just accidentally came into existence, and my cereal this morning was "magically delicious". If Frank was an atheist, he's regretting it for eternity, and that's a long bleepin' time!
@looknback2340 Music doesn't get better with time. The 'music' of today is rubbish. Music reflects the times in which we live. Do we live in great times now? I don't think so.
I recall Frank saying once, on TV, that he only appreciated the songs that told a story and everyone can understand them. Coupled with his amazing tone and timing, it's such a gift we had. I agree, the younger kids need to know about this to love it. Heck, this song would probably help a few more people stay married, if nothing else.
Thank you so very much for sharing your catalog. And i hope that the younger generations will discover the quality of the entertainment in those days, far beyond what is produced today...
Love this. This is real music. Our parents had it right when they said that today's "music" is nothing more than "noise," shallow and meaningless. There is such feeling and depth and honesty in a song like this. I am 20 years old and love to drive around with Sinatra turned all the way up!
@aowdw3 i think you have to realize the talent in music, this is great. and thats saying something cuz im a death metal fan. its not just noise to you because you dont like it. of course its very different, this now a days is classic. people still write music about what they feel and love. you wont like all the music out there.
@theternalrose I totally agree im 15 too THUMBS UP FOR 15 :D but true words my man
... its a cinda sad story... when my dad was little his dad died when he was 3 years old by a broken drill who made him get 10 000 volts through himself and before that my dad, my uncle and my grandad always used to listen to Frank Sinatra, and one day i was listening to Frank my dad came in to my room and almost cryin and then he told me this story and my dad never cries...
@theternalrose I was a teen just like you when I learned to realy appreciate Frank Sinatra. Not to mention his style of dress. I follow his wardrobe style.
This is my favourite Frank Sinatra song. Beautifully executed by both himself and the instruments. I'm think I'm exceptionally fortunate to have parents who raised me with this and much more classic, emotive, truly inspirational music. So many of my generation (16, 17, 18 year olds) reject this as 'old rubbish', claiming THIS is not real music. They wouldn't know real music if it smacked them in face.
@JettIgnacio7 Hahaha I am 16, I absolutely love his music, my favorite singer! Two years ago I used to listen to the real rubbish (rap), and one of those days I slapped my self in the face and asked myself "Wait a second, this song keeps repeating the same thing over and over again, this isnt real music, how can I express myself with this crap talking about money and cars, when I need a song to tell me that 'you are nobody till somebody loves you' and something that made my 'Fly me to the moon'
I absolutely love this song. I'm 20 years old and my generation is unfortunate for missing out on music like this. I'm a HUGE Elvis fan and it just makes me mad that my generation would rather listen to Kesha instead of the classics.
Hey thanks for doing this work of love, Nocaro. I was looking for an appropriate song to post with some words memorializing my Dad's death one year ago last Tuesday and this so sums up his love for my mother and his sense of style. It took me 40 years to "get" Sinatra's greatness, his phrasing, and 50 years to appreciate his style.
There are plenty of singers with better instruments, more range and stronger pipes. But Sinatra's vocal secret was that he sold his emotions, soul, character and personality through his voice. He made you think and feel that he meant every word he ever sang. And no one else has been able to convince us since.
Frank helped me get past some difficult times with just his music and words. oh and by the way I'm 19 and been a fan since I was I think 12 or something. On last fm I'm the biggest fan.
Music brings forth all aspects of human emotions and thought. I am a fan of most musical genres. I'm finding it extremely unfortunate that most kids my age don't appreciate such great American classics. Frank Sinatra is the man.
This was our wedding song 12 years ago,,, a sundow cruise aboard The Enpire Sandy,, on Toronto Harbour July 2nd 1999.. The best day of my life!!!! And yes I am loved All The Way!!!
"....who knows where the road will lead us, only a fool would say. But if you let me love you is for sure I'm gonna love you all the way, all the way...". This is one of the best songs ever written and sang by one of the best singers God gave us.
I love this song, particularly the part where it goes "through the good and lean years/ and all the in-between years". That's so true. It's easy to be there in the good years, and relatively easy to be there when your loved one has a hard time or when you do. It's the in-between years that make so many people lose interest in their relationships. If you still need your loved one and they need you, even when nothing in particular is happening, that's when it gets good.
Frank Sinatra always had an amazing voice! im 15 and i love this song! Its one of my favorites in my entire list! i only wish more people my age would listen to the classics of the 40s-80s and some 90s, but Kesha and other artists are taking the spotlight away from people like this!
Young people have the misfortune of lacking the foresight to perceive that a prolific catalog of amazing music might just exist beyond their local radio station's playlist.
@TrueNegro And you have hit upon the very reason I have created this YouTube Channel. I probably won't be around much longer but hopefully this channel will be and my kids and grandkids can always go to it and have a listen to what most radio airwaves won't play anymore. I just wish YouTube could allow me to post it all, but right now they can't. Thanks for the great note....Lanny (Nocaro)
@Nocaro im with DrBubbs on this im 16 and i know that the 50s had some of the most brilliant music so to all you who had the great fortune to live thru this era there is hope and no doubt that this music will never die :)
It may be of interest to some that Sammy Cahn, co-producer of this song, was an admirer of Sinatra and always requested that Frank record his music.

@Nocaro (to all really) May I say, my 3 music idols are Frank Sinatra, Sara Bareilles, & Rob Thomas.
Now I'm a just starting singer/songwriter & to me, those three are my biggest influences.
You see, to me Sinatra is about heart/fire/passion. To me, wearing a tux, snapping fingers, & all
that is nothing more than a Vegas side show act. It isn't what you sing but how you sing it.
For what it's worth... check out the other two I mentioned above. The "modern" Sinatra is not a Diana Krall...

Love this. This is real music. Our parents had it right when they said that today's "music" is nothing more than "noise," shallow and meaningless. There is such feeling and depth and honesty in a song like this. I am 20 years old and love to drive around with Sinatra turned all the way up!
aowdw3 8 months ago
@aowdw3 i think you have to realize the talent in music, this is great. and thats saying something cuz im a death metal fan. its not just noise to you because you dont like it. of course its very different, this now a days is classic. people still write music about what they feel and love. you wont like all the music out there.

I'm 67 yrs old,. Loved driving around with Sinatra turned up all the way on the radio and still do!
All of his tunes are the best!
He enunciates every word with passion and with so much feeling...
Really, no one else can ever compare ~ he gives it his all!
And goes "All The Way!"

The grass in the fields didn't seem quite as green,
And the birds outside my window sang the saddest songs i ever heard.

JettIgnacio7 10 months ago 8
@JettIgnacio7 same here, i was 4 and dady make me listened to frank, now im 27 and still love the dude
NoTraiciones 10 months ago

AngiePansy1 11 months ago
Hey thanks for doing this work of love, Nocaro. I was looking for an appropriate song to post with some words memorializing my Dad's death one year ago last Tuesday and this so sums up his love for my mother and his sense of style. It took me 40 years to "get" Sinatra's greatness, his phrasing, and 50 years to appreciate his style.

There are plenty of singers with better instruments, more range and stronger pipes. But Sinatra's vocal secret was that he sold his emotions, soul, character and personality through his voice. He made you think and feel that he meant every word he ever sang. And no one else has been able to convince us since.
goodoldazed 11 months ago
Frank helped me get past some difficult times with just his music and words. oh and by the way I'm 19 and been a fan since I was I think 12 or something. On last fm I'm the biggest fan.

Music brings forth all aspects of human emotions and thought. I am a fan of most musical genres. I'm finding it extremely unfortunate that most kids my age don't appreciate such great American classics. Frank Sinatra is the man.

TrueNegro 1 year ago 77
@TrueNegro And you have hit upon the very reason I have created this YouTube Channel. I probably won't be around much longer but hopefully this channel will be and my kids and grandkids can always go to it and have a listen to what most radio airwaves won't play anymore. I just wish YouTube could allow me to post it all, but right now they can't. Thanks for the great note....Lanny (Nocaro)
