  • Bring Derek D back!!

I can't wait for Fast Lane Daily to be back to normal.

  • AWSOME

  • wow that was fucking insane!!!

  • What car?

  • Hey guys please HD this!

  • how many RED signals?? WOW, but the sound was way ahed of the speed

  • this film reminds me of the game midnight club 3...

  • not only this, he also says they decided to make this movie that day, that morning!

  • the driver/director says in the making of he used people from his team to block some parts of Paris and prevent him from oncoming traffic, the Merc was used because it's smooth and he wasn't alone in the car, there were 2 more people going along

  • u should watch a short movie like this onboard a Peugeot where it climbs Pikes Peak like a maniac, it's a competition but as crazy as this.

  • I did. It was epic!! Thanks for the reference.

  • no problem, if u like driving like this, look for a lap of the Nordschleife in the RUF Porsche 911, it's as good as Pikes Peak, maybe even better cuz it lasts longer and it's on tarmac, there's a site called Racing Underground where you can find the complete video, it's worth it, trust me!

  • OH..MY..GOD, GOD ALMIGHTY!

That was insane! he hit a million birds, almost hit a bus head on and an old lady. lol. All for a blond chick. She must have had some good pu**y.

  • OMG, when they got to the round about, that was terrifying........ Would love to try that in my car!!!!!!!!!!!! Where the h3ll are the police, was this planned with the city?????????????

  • no in the intro they say there were no trucage as in no planning or effects...

  • in France there's almost no police controlling the traffic and this was surely done at like 5am ro something

  • A British show called the Fifth gear recreated this (Driven by vicki butler henderson). This was shot in regular speed. The video was played faster and the sound track was added to it. Come on FLD get you facts right.

  • classic, an early Christmas present, thank you!

  • At University I was told by my lecturer that it was a Mercedes-Benz but they overlaid audio from a Ferrari engine....

  • the video doesnt sound right...it does kind of sound like it was overlaid. i like the getaway in stockholm videos better. the one with the cosworth and the supra is just sick. just cuz it was first of its kind doesnt mean it was the best.

  • haha anyone count the red lights?

  • Lelouch's Ferrari 275GTB which was used for the sound. car driven was a MB. saw this flick in film school. Reminds me of Ghost Rider in europe the dark mysterious motorcycle speed demon.

  • motorcycles back then in the 70's never went this fast or even sounded this loud....

  • anyone know when you could find short films like this and if I could get them on DVD?

    thanks

  • Funny side note to this movie: Claude Lelouch, the director of the movie and the driver of the Mercedes (and not Ferrari) had planned his course ahead and put a helper at his only blind spot in the movie (5:23 min) This man would warn him if there would be traffic while crossing the intersection after the tunnel through a Walkie-talkie. After the shooting the man declared that the radio device was not working.

  • i own the spirit level film c´tait un rendevous (french for: it was an appointment) for years, and everyone of my friends was totally stunned. the sound is from a ferrari 250 gto, but the cars ride was not smooth enough to serve a nice picture, so lelouch drove the track twice, the second time with a mercedes 600 sel. thats why sometimes the sound of the engine doesnt fit the picture.

  • Rendezvous - This is "the film that started it all!" Kevin Beard of PILOTI shoes turned me onto this film in the early '90's and he played it in his booth at all the events they attended. AWESOME STUFF!! And yes, you can own your own copy this very film on DVD!

  • Alright .. some say Mercedes-Benz, some say Ferrari, some even say it's a motorbike ... FLD said it's a Ferrari.. So.. I think I'm just gonna go with Ferrari...

  • Motorcycle with dubbed car sound!

  • Last part... b4 he goes to the gal. Door open, door close..

  • this is how we drive in jamaica.....this seems kinda slow to me ....sounds like some of the taxis i've been in lol

all that for a hug......she had better be naked at the end of all that....gas aint cheap

  • if u ppl liked this...then you are going to love pakistan...cuz ppl here drive like this all the time, i mean any day, any time any where ...not just in the mornings....heck, you'd see ppl driving like this in rush hours with cops, pedestrians and all!

ppl living in this part of the world wouldn't be impressed by this...im not even kidding!

gotta love third world countries.....as far as craziness is concerned!

  • thats some smooth ass driving raaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • I think he hit 75mph at one point. Why dont you geys check out the gost rider STI videos. Now that is some fast driving. But thats cool this is the one that sparked them all. Thats a good reason to make the drive ;)

  • It doesn't even look fast, oh... it must be in KM. LOL!

  • My 8 year old cousin fell in love with this vid

  • y didnt they just use the 275?

  • what kind of car was that? 911?

  • Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 (W116). The sound was taken from the director's Ferrari 275 GTB/4.

  • Thank you...this is the correct information...

  • omg, paris is like a video game.

just get in the car and drive all over!

  • That's CRAZY!

What was that, like 3 green lights, and the rest were red? I have a hat.

  • getaway in Stockholm is much better. and there actually going fast.

  • its a mercedes. thats not the sound of the engine or the tires. the sounds come from a ferrari. they were dubbed over the video. Its also an illusion that hes driving that fast since the camera is very low to the ground it enhances the sensation of speed, but he was still speeding just not as fast as you would think.

  • Ferrari 275.

  • Thanks for posting an old favorite Derek. I had one hell of a sad and somber weekend and finding this when I logged on to catch up on some FLD really helped my Sunday evening. Thanks.

  • awesome shiftin BTW.... xD

  • well i really want to chat i have pics too so ..

  • Lelouch must be The Stig's father.

  • ok well that was dumb all we see is road but that chick is hot ha and what kind of name is lalush that is a dush name lol

  • I thought it was either a hot hatch or a very heavy car because there was virtually no oversteer and quite a bit of squeal during higher speeds. The engine note threw me off the heavy car idea but then I read the wiki page... Trumped again!

  • Good driving nevertheless!

  • Nissan copied film this with the 350z when it first came out

  • ya i've seen that one, it doesn't compare

  • paris looks like a ghost town. wasnt like that when i was there this year.

  • The term "car porn" needs to chill a bit..

  • This.

    I totally agree

  • it's a Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 dubbed with the sounds of a Ferrari 275GTB

  • Will you muppets stop bitching about this video? Either sit back and enjoy or STFU & GTFO!

  • Stop it with it being a car already!!! It's a damn motorcycle!! 7:05 proves it as he squeezes through a truck and the sidewalk. And also notice how the camera tilts as he makes turns. Obviously we are being misled. Audio was dubbed. Shame on FLD for the wrong info. Do your research guys!

  • No thats a car. if you have ever seen the first person view in motorcycle races its almost sideways on really sharp turns. but it doesn't happen on any of really sharp turns in this video. So your telling me the director diffed physics in the rest of the video?

  • motorcycle. check it again.

  • when does the camera tilt when he's making a turn?

  • DD said its a gyro mounted cam

  • Dude it's a fucking car... Listen at the door open and door close at the ending...

  • motorcycle. dubbed sound remember.

  • It doesn't tilt anywhere...research my ass :) "He was arrested after his 1976 film, C'était un rendez-vous, featuring a Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 being illegally driven at high speed through the streets of Paris, was first shown publicly.

Recent claims made by the director himself, however, suggest he drove his own Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 in the film and dubbed the sound effects of a Ferrari 275GTB."

  • Great old video. But don't put Getaway in Stockholm in line with it, GIS is for real pussies, no imagination and no traffic.

Check out my only video for real street racing, a little bit of traffic chess.

I'll upload some more subbed vids for your liking later.

  • the guy driving through Paris, that video has the right amount of awesome, and i can't believe that there were no cops chasing him

  • cops were probably like fuck that even if we had chuck norris we couldnt catch him

  • Good ol' BOB. Bob needs his own show.

  • orgasmic engine sound,i hope it is a ferarri or lambo :D

  • That exhaust note is heaven.

  • That's the engine note ;)

  • @fredPods haha, yeah your right I just couldn't think of it at the time so I just said exhaust.

  • Danielle's Taxi xD Nice thing ^^ not realy awesome. but nice ^^

Fast Lane Daily is a great show ^^

  • Funny thing is that it's a Mercedes 6.9 that was driving :D

  • COW COW COW, let me be COW. sucks. and the merc sucks. i liked thikining it was a ferrari more. let it be red. not silver

  • best fucking movie ever and the directer has balls of steel/nice driving skills too, honestly that movie could've been done in a Geo and it'd still be just as good(with the same audio of course lol)

  • What car were they driving in that short-film?

  • ferrari daytona im pretty sure, i own the movie since highschool and the guy at the peterson auto muesiem told it was a ferrari daytona :)

  • hey Derek, i think you guys should go to the Detroit auto show because its the best one and the most prestigious in the world!! so yea just saying Detroit is the way to go.

  • doesn't seem like he's going that fast.......just a loud engine hahaha...i could be wrong tho....but it sure does seem kinda slow for a bumper cam...iunno..what you think?

  • its true, if you find the behind-the-scenes video he explains how he made it, it was actually with some mercedes or something with a ferrari sound dubbed over it

  • i <3 car porn

  • what did this film start?

  • kind of sounds like a 599 and 430gt together i dont know though

  • MIND=BLOWN

  • they say daily funny. like. daley.

  • OMG!!! that was fucking epic... even if the audio was dubbed the driving was fucking awesome... and did you notice around 4mins all the red lights he shot through LOL Top Gear should try and cover this story lol

  • You can tell its dubbed because at 8:16, if the car was that loud that lady crossing the street would have been moving much faster out of the way.

  • The dude rlly can drive. no shit...

And what is it with all these retarted kids in the comments thinking they all know it better than one another... Just accept the fact that's it's a big mercedes with dubbed sound. Keep your opinion for yourself, nobody gives a shit...

And thx for the upload FLD.. love your car porn! xD

  • i thought this was gonna be the first fast lane daily vid i like....but i was wrong. sounds like you're driving a lambo....looks like you're driving a fiat 126p [1/5]

  • dear fastlanedaily, that would be sweet if you went to the boston auto show (dec 2-6), the boston auto show is actually pretty sweet it has alot of nice cars. also i will be there cause i live near boston.

  • what spartans said. also, did they add these noises on?

  • yea they did if you listen from 3:10-3:20 in there they messed up a bit and the sounds overlaped

  • i think it change changed gears

  • also i didnt knowtice anyone in the video actually look at the car and if the car was that loud then someone would have heard it coming especially the woman(i think) who walked right infront of the car

  • @c0c0asauce they used sound from a race car and synced it to the video...pretty amazing, tire squeel added lol

  • @c0c0asauce i also seem to remember that they used some standard car like a peugot or citroen to shoot it

  • what car is this!!!!!!

  • if u watch till the end they say its a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9, but the audio is a Ferrari

  • dude can drive

  • lol no he can't. he was driving at speed limit in a big Mercedes-Benz. all they did was sped it up to make it look like he was going fast.

  • Are you a retard look at th cars around him and the things they are doing such as the slow moving blinkers and the bus slowly taking its corners.

  • after lookin closely at it I'm man enough to say u r right. The sound kinda throws you off , that definitely sounds like a v 12. probably a non fuel injected

  • That movie was so French! And that's good in my book. Just a beautiful piece of art. It reminds me of Driver 2 some how.

  • totally love the dubbed in tire squeals lol

  • OMG they used my bicycle!!!

  • Youtube asks another film like that. But please, with nobody on the streets!

  • Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 Liters, the dubbed sound track threw me off a bit, thought it was a race spec'd car.

  • I wished that was real :-/, why did you tell me differently?

  • Motorcycle. 7.05 he sqeezes between a truck and sidewalk. Can't fit a car there! Umm, and the plot? Beat as much red light as you can because you'll get whooped by your bitch if you're late - lol

  • sounds like a car door at the end thoe?

  • sound dub.

  • he drove on the sidewalk to avoid the garbage truck...

  • @Skyline329 ... the redlights.... (o_0) OMG

  • Not...if he did the camera should have tilted.

  • i have been looking for this video ever since i heard about it in Alex Roy's book "The Driver". it is absolutely marvelous

  • 8:16 he almost hit that woman holy shit

  • That was ALMOST as fast as Lance Armstrong

  • Ive seen this vid a few times, and i still love every single rev of that engine. Though there has been a lot of comments about the supposed fact that the engine noise is dubbed over the top. Not sure if it is true, but I have a sneaky feeling it is. As ToyotaGT1Racer points out, it revs like mad but doesn't really seem to go any faster. Still though the film is a treat to watch and the blipping of the throttle as the driver downshifts sound immense.

  • sounds fake. its just trash video. the engine is revving like hell but the speed looks the same.

  • So Cool

  • lol that makes sense that it was a big Mercedes. It passes a few 2cvs and I noticed that it wasnt going much faster than them

  • The first movie short I've seen with a similar style was "The Run" back in 2002 or 2003 featuring the Nissan 350Z around the streets of Prague. "The Run" was awesome, and so is this. LOVE that engine sound. That has to be either a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. Great driving and lovely technique by the driver. The ending, however, I... no comment. And by the way... Paris, France is one of my favorite cities in the world. So it makes this video double-awesome. Thanks for the note on the car's engine.

  • at 5:25 you can hear the bumper smacking into the ground! nice!

  • are you serious??? are you fucking serious?????? A Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9??? wtf man wtf...could at least rented a ferrai shit man

  • it IS a ferrrari dumbass

  • @rafoman101 no its not reatard its a Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 Liters.. get ur freakin facts straigh!

  • no stupid it derek said that they used a ferrai noist to cover it up form the real sound

  • and who gives a fuck about spelling as long as you know what i ment it doesnt matter at all

  • what is he driving??

  • Thanks FLD for doing the homework on this film. Heard many stories about how this was shot using a moped and so on... Thanks!

  • did anyone else keep grabbing your game controller while watching this

  • Did you guys see how empty the arc de triumph was? He must have done this at 5 in the morning new years day when everyone was passed out drunk. Those crazy crazy french

  • loved the film, so part were clooose, he was lucky to make it without any incidents or finding too much traffic to go around

  • Benz Represent !!

  • Hmm. Something tells me that the car sound don't match with the video footage. But nice clip anyways.

  • you're right, the car is Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 which was only available with a 3-speed automatic , so video is dubbed with noise of Ferrari 275GTB

  • watch the video... the whole thing... derek explains that

  • yeah, now I see that, didn't watched the whole thing, cause I watched this video a long time ago...

  • oh :p

  • I think he missed the turn(cause by a bad entry of a corner) @ 7:58. n make for it @ 8:14. anyone?

  • 70's vintage wood.

  • wow

  • No man is a Lamborghini Miura .I know how it sound like that.

  • it was clear from the location and title what the movie was about, but no better 10 minute film without sound has ever been made, haha, nice

  • I want to be in the 70's and drive through Paris like that using a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. Not only can't the police catch me but It would leave the people on the streets with their jaws dropped in surprise =P

I feel the chills just watching this. Imagine doing this using a Jaguar XKR or a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and at night.

  • or better yet a veyron

  • But wouldn't it be a bit hard to drive it through Paris? I know it's a good car but It's not the sort you'd take when being chased by bad guys especially in the streets.

I prefer not too much power with superb handling and great engine sound. Either the LP560-4 or 458 Italia would be enough.

  • @mondeost2202008 you do know this was filmed in 1976, right?

  • What car is he in??

  • Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9

  • yeah no wonder the sound and the car didnt match! anyways ledouche or whateva killed a few birds on his way to Blondie... have a great weekend all you FLD junkies!!!

    Malaysia

  • this guy is mobbin. its like an early Ghost Rider.

  • The new song has grown on me..the end

  • End - *Tear

  • lol i automatically start singing snow patrol when i see this lol

  • i wondered why is the sound so crazy but the car so "slow"

  • NOT ONE COP, I just drive for 5 freaking minutes in CA and i see at least 3 cops... and all hungry for the minimum tickets that they need to pay their freaking high salaries... THAT's it lets all go to paris!!! or the poor side of Africa where police don't have cars...

  • In 1976, LA police didn't give a shit either. How times have changed. Los Angeles is horrible. I had to go a dentist's appointment in Beverly Hills last week. It took me 45 minutes to find a parking spot on Wilshire Blvd., and even then, the meter ran like $7. Lot parking was $3 more.....

  • Comment removed

  • I've seen the end of this before but this is the first time I have seen Rendezvous in its entirety... holy sh!t

  • Sounds like an old Carrera, or old Ferrari with sequential gearing.

  • Wikipedia link in description doesn't work ...

  • Actually Fifth Gear had recreated this segment in present time in Paris but time has changed...

  • Comment removed

  • Holy boner. yeah that genre of videos is so awesome. see also the Getaway in Stockhom series. those are badass just like this.

  • where police not invented at this time in paris? lol

  • Yea seriously how the fuck did he get through all of France without seeing one cop?

  • In 1976, police didn't give a shit...and it's early in the morning. You should watch getaway from stockholm movies, it' modern interpretation of this

  • fld shirt bdw

  • WOW WOW WOW. amzing driving skills. but i still dont know what tiype of car he was driving

  • In the words of frostyboy

    "Often licked, never beaten"

  • What time of day did this take place? There was almost no one on the road in the middle of a huge city. Lucky bastard.

  • Anyone else find it ironic that they showed the lamborghini booth?

  • When was it?

  • during the l.a. auto show thing. lambo wont be there this year.

  • what a beautiful city!

  • all that for pussy. lol

  • i figured it was like a Porsche or sumthin
