My yard is always full of bobcats looking for somewhere comfy to settle down for the day, as well as coyotes and mountain lions. They know a house means people, but where AREN'T people these days? One of the biggest dangers of taming a bobcat is that there has been a surge of rabies in this species in North America. A pregnant female can pass the virus along to her cubs before she dies. Abandoned cubs are the likeliest reason for people taking in bobcats. People who play with them will likely be scratched and nipped. Even if the kittens were vaccinated on the way home, the virus may have taken hold with no symptoms yet. By the time a person shows symptoms, it's far too late. 100% fatal.

Hey, as long as I can afford to buy food, I do not feel the need to kill anything more than paper.

I have seen the results of a dog attack, and a local "tame" cat once went after my 3 year old son (pouncing on him out of a clump of bushes), I know what even a small animal can do.

Having such an animal around would have me nervous but I would not use deadly force unless I believed that there was a real risk, but if need be, a .22 round would be more than enough...

@exitre, no bobcats and housecats are mostly not friends, especially when meeting in the outdoors; bobcats actually kill housecats. However, kitten bobcats have been raised in captivity alongside housecats. There are YouTube videos of 'Big Cat Rescue' staff at work where you can see this very thing. However, bobcats as the saying goes, are 'another breed of cat'...rather aggressive and dangerous, though very beautiful.
