PMI doesn't publish the passing score or if you must pass all Process Groups.
The purpose of this video is to show how you might get a higher score by focusing on certain Process Groups while NOT ignoring the rest. You're initiating a project here, and the deliverable is PMP Certification. You're constrained by time, aptitude, money. You as a PM must manage them like a real project to ensure success. How do you optimize and get the most under the constraints?
Failing one process group equals failing entire PMP exam. It does NOT matter if one passes Initiating, Planning, M&C, and Closing process groups. Percentage does not matter. One must pass the exam by showing at least average knowledge in each process group.
@activeuser2009 on my understanding, having the percentages shown here is good so that we focus our study on the most critical points, for example, if the exam grade is 700 points (70%) we would study both most valuable process and then put less effort on the others. By your statment, you mean each process is 100% and each of them must be aced or at least we have to get 70%? - Well I dont know how it is structured if you have further info it will help.... thanks!
@activeuser2009 This is incorrect. Not sure how passing is measured, but if you obtain "Below Proficient" in one or two areas, you are still able to pass.
@watcher211 I received my PMP few months ago and all I can say now is that you have to be average in all areas. If you are below average in any process group, you will fail the exam no matter if you had aced in rest of the exam.
@activeuser2009 You may have passed with average or better in all areas, and kudos to you. Not about to give specifics, rest assured that after passing the exam yesterday I am able to report to everyone that is preparing for this exam that avg or above in all areas is not required. Your feedback regarding the experience you encountered is still appreciated. The more people we have reporting back in, the better the chances we have of figuring out how this test is measured. -Thanks
