I think nick is forgetting the nature of this "God" in question. if hes supposed to love you so much then why would he send you to hell. well because God is a perfect God and hes is the antithesis of things that are bad, and if a bad person comes into his presence, well then he is no longer perfect is he. An "ungodly thing" sunch as a person cannot come into contact with the God because that would deny Gods nature.. therefore making truth untrue.

Huh, imagine that, historians find evidence to support the religion they were brought up on. There's also plenty of historical evidence that disproves much of the political facts (I assume you aren't talking about the mythological aspects of it.) of the bible.
By mythology I mean Christ's resurrection (has to do with Sun worship and a continuation of the Osirian legend), parting the "Red" Sea, Adam and Eve, miracles et al. By political facts I mean the histories of the wars between nation states and the prominence of Jerusalem as a political power for example, stuff that is still used as propaganda to justify Israel's reformation in the modern world.
Actually we can't create matter at all, it's called the Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy. Nothing can be added to the universe only changed in form. This does lead to a problem with religion though as scientifically there is no creation except the creation of the universe, everything else is just reconfiguring. Which leads to if God created the universe then what created God and if God just appeared why couldn't the universe have just appeared. No answers anywhere.
It is my understanding that the Higg's Boson theory if proven true would account for the mass of particles, however the overall closed system of the universe (as we understand it presently) would still contain the same amount of mass/energy. As far as I know Einstein's theory still holds up.
Okay but would you at least admit that not being able to create matter is a human limitation and that in a different region of space far more developed beings or perhaps our selves in a future time their may be some technology that can generate matter.

Wanting to believe in a higher power/greater purpose/afterlife is a supremely easy thing to do in order to make it bearable that you will die and that your loved ones have died. I'm not sure if you've personally had someone very close to you die but compare thinking that they are gone forever with thinking they are in a "better place" and see which one your mind would choose to gain comfort. It wasn't a dying man that created God but a man who had experienced the death around him.
