You only have to look at all the postings on Y/tube to see many MMA guys disrespecting trad MA...comments like - I'd knock him out in 5 seconds, or Try that in the cage, or I'd choke him out, come on it's all over the place.
Maybe you don't but sadly many do...it's just proving their ignorance.
I know some Teachers and students would get their asses whipped in a real scenario on the street.
But when you say 'proper testing under resistance', now you do make me laugh.- WuShu Kung Fu!!!
Do you REALLY think the guys posting on youtube are MMA students? Now you do make me laugh! I would say a VERY small percentage of the troll comments are from MMA students. As I said before, its most likely armchair warriors writing it.
Kito ryu was the main influences in Judo in terms of practice and technique and was heavily studied by Kano the founder of Judo, the other was fusen ryu in its grappling department which is also partly originated from Kito Ryu and another unnamed Chinese art from Gen Shu Han which has its origins in the late 1700s. all documented and written down by Japanese and Chinese sources. Jujutsu n judo didnt just come out of nowhere.
@ironmantis3 Qinna is also accredited in the development of Jujutsu. It is stated in numerous Japanese and Chinese documents, that Chen Yuan-Yun (Chin Gempin or Chen Yuan-Pin; 1587-1674) was the first to introduce Chinese ju techniques (柔道 Rou Dao) into Japan during the early to middle 1600's. One such Japanese document is “Collections of Ancestor’s Conversations Volume 2."
Honcho Bugei Shoden written by Hinatsu Shigetaka in 1716 states Chin Gempin came to Japan and stayed at the Kokusa monastery, where he met three ronin: Fukuno Hichiroemon, Isogai Jirozaemon, and Miura Yojiemon. Chin Gempin told them that in China, there is an art of seizing a man. Chin Gempin taught only whatever he remembered. Upon hearing this, the samurai further researched this art. Once achieving a degree of skill, the samurai founded the Kito-ryu school of Jujutsu.
Did Matt actually say he didnt like the Gracies techniques? I VERY much doubt it because it would seem kind of stupid seeing as Matt is a black belt in BJJ himself. If he didnt like the Gracies techniques, why did he learn Gracie Jiu Jitsu???
I dont know ANY MMA students or fighters who disrespect traditional martial arts but I have to say that the techniques are more refined today though....In most cases.
And through proper testing under resistance, we have found what really works and what doesnt. We kept the useful techniques and refined them.
Fighters today as a whole are just more advanced in every almost every aspect.
The haters of Trad M.A are just internet warriors....NOT MMA students/fighters.
Beautifull Thank You :)

Those pictures have been verified as to be dated after the Japanese brought Judo to China. This is not chin na, its not even kungfu.

@ironmantis3 It looks like a mix of Chinese china na and Judo. The only real judo techniques were the collar strangles and a few others.

All MMA students who knock Trad. M A prove how little they know about actual Martial Arts!
Look at this vid/pics and see how many techniques you call modern techniques.
There are few if indeed any...and from my experience none.
MMA does pressure test these techniques, or many of the watered down ones as they are too dangerous to use.
I have fought Full Contact and therefore do have some idea what I'm talking about. I believe this book was printed around 1930.
nuff said.
